One guy I want the Colts to look at is:

Cedric Reed, DE, released from Buffalo Bills - http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=119568&draftyear=2015&genpos=DE

Anyone else you guys have in mind?

Tim Jennings was let go from Chicago.

I am pretty happy with our CBs right now, but you can never have too many at that position and he could be an upgrade to our depth.A

Otherwise, I don't really see any names that jump out.  Maybe we'll have better pickings after the next round of cuts.

Any half-decent Guard, but I would be surprise if any is released before the cuts on Saturday.

BTW, word on the street is that a team starting with C cut a Guard today that could be half-decent, if he could stay free of injuries. We might pick him up during the season for at low cost if needed. :peek:

Tim Jennings was let go because he's bad. He did his best as a zone corner in a pretty good Cover 2. The Bears are now going to be a man coverage defense, and he doesn't fit.

Just say NO to Tim Jennings.

It's not that he didn't fit they went younger actually and when he was here he sucked in Zone he went there and actually played man and became known so I wouldn't mind the depth as long as he's not in zone he wasn't bad in coverage last year just had 1 pick in 16 games

I'd bet Tampa picks him up.

Him helping give up 21 catches to Brandon Marshall is reason enough to not bring him back. That was one of the worst games by a CB I've ever seen. That said he's played pretty good since but we don't need him anyway.

They played zone when he was good. They just had a better front than the old Colts, and they didn't put him in 8 yard cushions every down. It was still Tampa 2. Marc Trestman and Mel Hunter ran some variations and blitzed more the past two years, but it was still base Cover 2.

After a while a lot of those where short yardage catches where they were just forcing the ball to Marshall.....  also the other dbs in the game included Lacey, Powers, Silva, Bethea, Bullitt, and Hayden playing in soft cover 2 that still produced a win, and Jennings had an interception in the game.

Not saying sign him, just saying it was far from his fault.

I see Derrick Lott was cut from the Titans.  A lot of people on this forum wanted us to draft him before the draft this year.

Not saying we definitely have to pick him up, but I noticed the name.

Ahh okay thanks yeah that cushion definitely makes the difference between theirs and how ours was in the past

Why didn't this team just draft L Collins in the late rounds?  I will never understand that...     at a position on paramount need?

Once Luck is paid this team is going to have to take chances on iffy playfers.     or ....   it they just wont get over the hump.   Not nearly enough young talent on this D.      And OL for that matter.

Oh well...

Typically, if a guy is cut in this round he's not very good but I would not mind if the Colts signed J.D. Walton.  After being a 3rd round pick, he was a three year starter for the Broncos until a dislocated ankle and than an infection that kept his rehab going.  But last year he was a 16 game starter for the Giants and he's only 28.

He could be a more solid back-up center than Harrison and he could also be a good back-up guard as well.

    • Year two is where we should really see him hit his ceiling. We are going to have to have a little patience with him this first year until everyone gets used to each other. I think he will be good this year bur 22 is where it should really click.
    • I simply don't know how much authority he ever had.  I'm not sure anybody does.   It sound like he was simply a guy who was plucked out of a job In Philly, maybe having narrow duties, but did not have the managerial instincts and NFL connections to be able to assemble a non Polian staff.    Still, did Irsay help him in this aspect or just let him sink?   It always seemed like a weird authority structure.  Starting right off with Irsay handling the PM situation, deciding to draft Luck, wanting a 34 defense, not allowing RG to fire Pagano, and I wonder who made the call to either keep Arians or Pagano after the ChuckStrong campaign but the team flourishing under Arians.  Not that there was a real choice, but I always wondered if Irsay and Grigs had a talk about that after season 1 and what each thought about each coach and why.
    • We were in a great spot to trade up for Herbert. But we only had two teams we could of traded with. The giants and I believe the lions.  They may not have wanted to trade. Then that means we Would not of gotten Buckner. I think Herbert would of been able to win right away with this team. Character wise he was the perfect fit too.
    • One thing that stuck out was he said he didn’t have a good supporting cast around him helping him make decisions. Irsay would of given him anything if he asked. This is why Ballard is so good. He surrounded himself with great people who keep him accountable. He even said the assistants and scouts at the end of the season get to review his job performance as a GM. He said they bust his balls lol.
    • This is obvious to many.  Since he could not fire Pagano, I'm not sure why he did not bring in different OCs.  Of course, I'm not sure if that quick passing game was in vogue at the time he was here, and I don't know what OC candidates would have implemented it.  Seemed like the candidates were just a bunch of old school retreads at the time.   The west coast offense was known for exposing its QBs to injury, so that shorter quicker passing offense was not the answer.   Can only hire what the market produces.
