Reggie Wayne Visiting Patriots Today For Physical [Merge]

Recommended Posts

What makes you think the Pats won't win this year. I think they win their division and they have an excellent chance to return to the Super Bowl. You have to be honest and overall, the Pats just have better players than most of the contending AFC teams.

Except they don't.

Plus Brady is suspended.

I love Reggie and I'm fine with him playing anywhere but with the pats.....but it's not up to me, he's a grown* man and makes his own decisions.

But the pats? REALLY? Maybe he'll show them how to have some class.

Pretty sure New England is more interested in Reggie, than Reggie interested in New England. Take that with a grain of salt or not, it's just the overall willingness to win at all costs scenario that the Patriots exude year in and year out. Hope I'm wrong. However, judging from history, tells me otherwise.

It just seems to me there are 30 other teams and choosing New England is a real slap in the face of Colts fans

Still a Legend as a Colt but this is a bitter pill to swallow

I think it's more of a case of the Pats choosing him. He wants to play, doesn't seem like any other offers out there. :dunno:

hoodie is a great judge of talent,if he thinks reggie has more and  he does, hoodies win, grigs loss, nfl players are hired guns to the highest bidder.thats the reason I don't like draft picks, when they finally become good many of them sell to the highest bidder.i don't root for players, I root for the team, players are just chess pieces, great gms can put the chess pieces together. the way the nfl is set up players play for the money, not the team

You guys are acting like he signed with the Pats...

Why would he be having a physical with them if he wasn't interested? He basically is committing himself to the Pats, assuming he passes his physical, otherwise what's the point of him taking the physical in the first place?

He has other scheduled visits.

I'm surprised no one has signed him yet anyway.

Of course he wants to sign with the Pats. They have a top class QB and the best HC in the game. They are a winning franchise and the most succesful in modern times, and despite losing some key players, they're still gonna be in the mix. I Reggie feels like he can win another Super Bowl there, then I wont fault him for going there. If you a shot at the title, NE is where you go. 6 times there, 4 times winning it. Man, I wish we could be as succesful...

I have seen the error of my past, I don't care what the players names are now, just some chess pieces, meet the new me in the present nfl system, team rooting only for me, wont root for players

And I'm sure many teams are willing to pay him a LOT more money than New England will, yet he went with New England, so that excuse doesn't fly with me.

Yeah, I'm sure teams are lining up to sign a 36 yr old receiver coming off an injury plagued year. And even if he did have many offers, who cares if he signed with the Pats? He doesn't owe the fans or the colts anything.

Say it ain't so, Reggie.   :argh:     :hairout:   :argh::panic:  :hissy:  :hairout:

okay, I got that out of my system.   Calmer now, and as much as I would hate to see this,  I can't really say I blame him.   I know he wants to play, and I know he wants to have one more good year.   So hey,  give it your best shot Reggie.    And,  Thanks for the Memories here.

I feel the same. I want to scream and yell and go nuts.

Then I say relax Jules relax.......

It's just like..........torture. My rational and irrational side are fighting with one another.

What makes it even worse too is this whole offseason has been centered around a certain scandal involving air and balls.

Reggie needs to go to GB that's the best place for him since Jordy Nelson is out for the year most likely.

Not sure Wayne is the answer for replacing Jordy, but if any 35+ receiver could do it it's Reggie.

Not really sure what Green Bay's options are but I think they're going to roll with what they have.

I'm a HUGE Reggie fan and it's called business!!! I don't have any hard feelings toward him if he signs with the Pats or ANY other team. This was the possibility after he made it clear he still wanted to play. Remember folks the Colts cut him!! If it was up to Reg he would STILL be here. Whatever team he plays for I wish him well but against the Colts on that Sunday he will be the enemy. I'm sure at this point the chance at another SB will be a key factor to whatever team he picks but his options might be limited anyway.

Technically, Reggie is a free agent and can sign wherever he pleases. But please, Reggie, not New England!

Unless he's going there to gain the trust of Belichick and Brady, and then plans to expose all the cheating they've been hiding [maniacal laugh]!

I thought the same thing. Wouldn't it be great if that was secretly his intention?

Everyone whining about the possibility of Wayne signing with New England needs to take it down a couple notches. You guys had no problem with the Colts signing Adam Viniatieri a few years back, and also didn't mind the Colts signing Andre Johnson this year. This is no different.

The Colts didn't cut Reggie.

That's blatantly false.

Actually it is different.

No one is saying that the Pats shouldn't be happy with Reggie. I remember Pats fans being a little mad at him for going to the Colts. Of course, the rivalry wasn't quite what it has become.

Getting Andre Johnson from the Texans isn't quite the same either as the Colts/Texans hasn't really been more than a divisional game.

    • Keep in mind Leno was a 7th round pick in 2014 but didn't start full time till 2016. He signed an modest extension in 2017, but then made the Pro Bowl in 2018. Had a bit of a down year in 2019, but rebounded for a good year in 2020. He graded better than AC. IMO, he's the best and healthiest option left of the FA OTs. He hasn't hit 30 yet. Fisher is injured and 30. Okung is 33. Given he's the youngest, healthiest, and rates over 70, he'll be in higher demand, as there are still several teams looking for a LT. If he wanted 9M a year for 2 years, I'd take that in a heartbeat. I just doubt he'll be OK with that.    Keep in mind the Bears pretty much had to cut him as they couldn't afford to keep him. They were negative cap. It's why they drafted Jenkins. And Denver, who is one of the few teams to have more cap space than Indy, is highly interested in Leno.   Fisher coming off that injury is a big dice roll. That will impact his market value. Healing at 30 years old is tough for some guys, especially big uglies.   I don't see Leno taking less than 3 year / 30M. I don't see Fisher taking a one year deal at all. Worst thing he could do is do a one year after an injury, look meh this year, and he's done. He'll want 2-3 and some guarantees. He'll take less per year, but he'll want some security.  The team will have most leverage with Okung in terms of $ and duration.
    • The Paye pick makes a lot of sense but the Dayo pick surprised me. I wanted a left tackle and thought that there were a couple of guys who would have made a lot of sense.   Ballard and co know way more about those players than I do, however, so I'll continue to trust their judgement until they demonstrate that I shouldn't.    I'd rather have two good pass rushers than one good pass rusher and one bad left tackle.
    • I like the breakdown and agree although i caveat with this:   I don't think Leno or Fisher was 2-3 year deals unless they get what their market is before being cut.   And I do not think CB is going to big against himself to do that.   Leno basically made $8M-$9M each year ($8.8, $5.0, $8.1, $8.1) and was slated to make $9.0M this year before cut.   If the Colts are going to offer him $8-$9M a year I think he would gladly take a 2-3 year deal. But if the Colts are bargain shopping then I think he and Fisher will both be happy to take 1 year deals and prove their worth and re-enter the market next year when there is a lot more money to go around.   Fisher probably won't go for a 2-3 year deal unless he is making $10M+    I would actually ideally like to see us give one of them a 2-3 year deal where we have cost control on a decent contract for a year or two beyond this one.   I think that is a big win if so. More likely scenario has us giving one of them a $6M-$8M deal for a year and then having to either try to extend them if it works out or let them walk if it doesn't.
    • Best option if healthy - Fisher (will still likely want 2-3 years)   Safest option - Leno (likely wants 3 years min)   Most expensive option - Leno   Cheapest short term option with a level of safety - Okung (PFF predicts a 3 year deal, which I don't see).   IMO, if you don't grab one of those guys, or other quality FA, you'll end up starting Tevi. If you start Tevi, before long you're moving Nelson to LT.... Ballard likely doesn't want to give Leno 3-4 years and high dollars. FIsher comes with risk. IDK...
    • Here's what PFF says, and how they rank them in terms of FAs available.   In short, Houston had the worst pass rush graded year of his career, but still was top 10 in pass rush win rate. Kerrigan on the other had a career worst year all around, was really lousy vs the run, while many expected a bump up in production per snap due to the reduced role.   If Houston would take a one year deal, I'd rather give him 10M than give Kerrigan 5M.     Don't forget we lost 2 (Autry and Houston) and added 3 (Paye, Dayo, Rochell). So even if Dayo takes longer, we're still even net/net with the addition of Rochell.    I agree he could start over Banogu. As long as Turay is deemed healthy enough to play, he'd be a better passing downs rusher than Kerrigan. Kerrigan wouldn't play on running downs at all for us. He'd be a rotational or depth pass rush specialist at best.
