Colts @ Jaguars Game Day Thread

Recommended Posts

Happy Holidays again and also Happy New Year to everyone here on the Colts Fan Forum! :) But not as entirely happy to all Colts fans today as our Indianapolis Colts conclude their disappointing 2011 NFL regular season, in the beginning of another calendar year in 2012 , and in New Years Day as they are in Northeast Florida to play the Jacksonville Jaguars. :jags: Colts are well rested after playing their last game in Indianapolis ten days ago back on Thursday Night, December 22, and hope to end their season in a florish by winning their third straight game over the Jaguars. A win over Jacksonville today would also mean defeating each of their AFC South rivals in their last three regular season games in a two-week period, have earlier defeated the Tennessee Titans 27-13 on December 18, and later the AFC South Champions Houston Texans 19-16 three nights later, both games played at LOS.

Colts are also competing with the St. Louis Rams for the #1 overall pick in the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft in late April. However, a Colts win over the Jaguars, and a Rams loss to the visiting San Francisco 49ers could mean the Rams would instead be awarded the top overall pick instead. In that scenario, Rams might not draft Andrew Luck since they already drafted Sam Bradford in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Jaguars defeated our Colts in the earlier meeting at 17-3 at LOS back on November 13. Colts defense must try to contain Pro Bowler Maurice Jones-Drew again, as he rushed for 114 yards in that game, and is also leading the NFL in rushing with 1,437 yards, despite the Jaguars owning the leagues worst passing offense.

Jaguars are also playing their last game in front of original team owners Wayne and Delores Weaver, who brought the team to Jacksonville in 1995. Shahid Khan will take over ownership of the Jaguars beginning on January 4.

Colts however still leads the all-time regular season series over the Jaguars 15-6 entering today including 7-3 record as the visitor ,a rivalry that started when Indianapolis defeated Jacksonville 41-31 in the Jaguarsinaugural seaon back on December 10, 1995. But the Jaguars also defeated the Colts in their last regular season visit to Jacksonville 31-28 back on October 3, 2010. Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell also has a 3-2 record over the Jaguars, and Jacksonville has yet to sweep a season series over Indianapolis.

Spero Dedes and Steve Beuerlein will announce for The NFL On CBS, seen regionally, primarily in Indiana, Northern Kentucky, both Jackonville and Gainesville, Florida, and here at Indianapolis at WISH CBS 8 live on HD.

Bob Lamey, our 'Voice Of The Colts,' and Will Wolford for the final time this season will also announce the live radio game play-by-play and analysis, along with sideline reporter Kevin Lee simulcast on Colts flagship stations WFNI ESPN SportsRadio 1070AM, and WHNK Country 97.1FM, and the Colts Radio Network.

Local weather conditions at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, for this afternoon's 1:05PM Eastern Standard Time kickoff is great with Clear and Partly Cloudy skies at 70 degrees, with 10% precipitation, 57% humiditiy, and southwest winds at 7 miles per hour.

Visiting Colts will dress in their matching white road jerseys and pants, while the host Jaguars will wear their teal jerseys, and white pants.

My pleasure both starting the Colts game threads, and also participate in-game with the rest of the registered users this season. Colts have an opportunity to end no better than a 3-13 season, and it was unfortunate Peyton Manning's neck injury, and his absence on the field also affected his teammates, his fans, and this seasons won-loss record. Colts even had an opportunity to host their own Super Bowl in Super Bowl XLVI had Peyton and the Colts as a team were also healthy. Interesting to see what the upcoming NFL Draft and the offseason will bring for the Colts before training camp this summer in 2012.

NO injuries and also silly penalties on the field today. Finish the season strong for yourselves and your fans, to both end your season, and begin the New Year in a positive mode, and GO COLTS!!!!! :cheer:  :1colts::colts::coltslogo::coltshorse::coltsfb::helmet::blueshoe::D

That was a fast quarter.

We will be the first to halftime again. it seems like all of our games are the first to half and the first to end

And to further the point, Mathis deserved a Pro Bowl spot over Freeney. Not that I'm not happy for Freeney, but Mathis has had a good year.

Is Brady playing? I know he was questionable.

He has to be out. No way the Bills would be up 21.

I like the field announcer's comment before that 4th down play:

"Caldwell is on the sideline staring at it."

I don't think he meant anything by it, but it made me laugh.

Dolphins were up 17-0 at one point last week.

Oh, not really like Brady.

Thanks MP Nation. Wonder how his shoulder is. They're playing for the #1 seed.

    • I feel like we just drafted our next iteration of "Triplets"....   Honestly, Eason was drafted appropriately.....1st Round arm talent....4th Round pick because its based on 'projection' and 'potential'. If we are honest with ourselves and understand that he was the number 1 Pro Style QB coming out of HS in 2016, had a solid Freshman year at Georgia (in a Pro Style offense), got Wally Pipp'd and essentially didn't play for 2 full seasons while injured and in the transfer protocol - one could see why his mechanics and progressions weren't as consistent as they were his Freshman year.    He should have stayed one more year, however, if he did I don't think we could have drafted a better QB next year either - let alone have a shot at him. He will Redshirt here for at least one year, maybe 2 at tops and then put up a very solid career for us. Rivers is a good role model to learn from AND he sat for 2 years behind Drew Brees......so he can teach and relate to him!   Michael Pittman is a polished receiver with a positive attitude, works hard on his craft and will put in the work to get better. He is a hands catcher, high points the ball and has good RAC abilities - those talents are God given. He needs refinement on his breaks and route running, but that is something that can be taught.    Jonathan Taylor, what needs to be said? Bellcow RB who runs thru or around would be tacklers, blocks well, catches well, durable. Would likely be the exception to the one and done contract for Ballard's RB's.   Add in Patmon (who I think we stole in the 6th Round), TY, Pascal and Campbell and I think we've got our top 5 set for the next several years.   Blackmon is kind of a wild card to me......he used to play corner but now plays safety. Hooker, if allowed to play true CF I think would be a game changer - PFF thinks he is already even though the Colts and a lot of fans don't. So do they keep the younger version (Malik is still only 24 I believe) and don't re-sign Hooker.   That leaves us with Blackmon and Willis as starters with Odum as the only known commodity as a back-up.....retaining Hooker WITH Blackmon (and Willis and Odum) would allow the coaching staff to use him as the chess piece they think he is.   Just my $0.02....
    • Going to a small school can have a lot to do with it. When you go to a small school (GS or HS or College), you have to learn more and do more. And if you're physically gifted, and you go to a small college, that's a bigger double dip and they're going to use you all over the place....... Especially when your a 4.4 guy... And when you're 4.4 and decent height, of course you're going to play WR and likely return.... It's not like he had to learn a bunch of positions. It's pretty darn common for WRs to return, no??   Didn't you go to small school 500ish? You should know...    BTW, I played 7 different positions on O and D in GS, returned, punted, and kicked...... It was because I went to a small school, and learning all that was a necessity. That changed in HS (similar size to PCHS)
    • He could be a factor
    • Going to a small school has nothing to do with what I said      Somewhere in his formative years a mentor or coach taught him to do multiple jobs       It was somewhat mandatory in my formative years         Every position group could play anywhere in that group           The only guys who didn’t were the QBs and if we had a Kicking Specialist              I knew every spot on the OL, the duties of every position on the Front 8 and could Long Snap
