I agree he "should" come in and be an impact player....     Who does he have to beat?

Finally DL and a nice pick....      Go Colts

Instant starter.

Stanford guys are being drafted big time in rounds 2 and 3, it seems like

I was just kidding, Miles is a good dude.

Alright my bad for not realizing. I am not defending Miles one way or another I don't know much about him and/or if he eats grass haha. I just don't think he would stick his neck out there and risk being wrong with a situation like this that is all.

Half of Werner's "splash" plays came against BAD teams...      But everyone liked his "motor" ...    It's not over for him...  just out of position.

Let's be honest. We have no clue until they actually play.
I thought Werner was going to be a monster.

hmmm.... Weaknesses

Slender legs, tight hips and boring feet. Feet will stall at contact when squared up against the run. Initial punch by an offensive lineman will jostle him. Lacks power to play inside. On the ground far too often. Must improve hand usage as pass rusher. Can be blocked by tight ends. Benefited from team-oriented defensive scheme. Doesn't gain much ground with initial steps as pass rusher. Relies on hustle sacks and lacks counter moves.

Yes. Those are some troubling negatives aren't they? The kind that seem difficult to overcome.

If they could somehow come away with Grady J, Clemmings, or Dawson tommorrow  I will be really liking this ...

I thought we'd be taking a RB in the 4th....

Now I think we'll be taking a safety and a RB in the 5th...

That's just my hunch....   But wouldn't Clemmings be nice in the 4th?!?

He's well-known for being a little. . . off-the-wall.  Crazy like a fox.  And yes, he likes to graze a bit during games.

Seems like it, states even if he bulks up he still may not be very adequate at a pro level from the sounds of the NFL draft analysis.  Still it waits to be seen.

Mayock and other seemed to like the pick though.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic.....

Sources Tell Us "He plays hard like Trent Murphy did at Stanford, but Murphy was a better athlete. He's not explosive enough to be a reliable pass rusher and I don't see him as a run stuffer." -- Pac 12 regional scout

Bottom Line

Data driven teams will be intrigued by Anderson's stuffs, impact tackles and total pressures, but the tape doesn't validate his potential to produce these numbers on the pro level. The body type screams 3-4 defensive end if he can bulk up and add power, but he might lack the balance and toughness to make it there. Anderson might just be a "tweener" without a clear NFL position fit.

That's a less than stellar review.

They also said JJ Watt would slide inside "on occasion" to rush the passer. Old scouting reports are fun to read.....

It sounds like he is not athletic and has a narrow base. Not the kind of body type I prefer for the Dline.

Was talking about college tape genius...

OK...      Oh and compare BjW's stats against all "pass rushers" taken that season...

JUST saying....  First round picks are far from guarantees of success.     FAR FROM IT.

You mean splash play

We are talking about C Carter's kid now....     he is NO guarantee..      1st pick was a stone cold wake up call to him.

Griff will show up and out work him ....  can he out play him?    I hope so..      Carter's just an entitled name ...  thus the Dorsett pick.

GW will probably be the odd man out

    • One of the great things the NFL does is getting people to believe they aren’t rich.   The league made 17 billion dollars in 2021 in revenue.  The average NFL team is worth 5.1 billion dollars.  These guys aren’t broke or strapped for cash.  They can afford these things.     For what it’s worth Holder is reporting that the Colts made the decision not to go after Sneed and then gave that money to all the guys they re-signed last week and had they gone after Sneed it would have been as the expense of some of those guys, specifically Kenny Moore and perhaps Grover Stewartt which tracks with Kenny at least being the last of the group to re-sign.  Physical money wasn’t the issue.  The Colts simply made a choice.
    • Who has the best RAS score?
    • Frankly the whole Grigson era turned me off of making all the bold moves people want.  He would and they almost always blew up in the Colts faces.  He was saved by the fact he had Andrew Luck and he was just too good to be bad.  Ironically I think if Ballard had had Andrew Luck for his whole time as GM we would be looking at another golden era of Colts football and it would be have been interesting to note both came with the philosophy of build through the draft and reward your own.  Oh well if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we’d all have a Merry Christmas.
    • In 2015 the Colts were considered winners of free agency. Granted there were a few good signings, but we haven't been the same since. Ever since then, I've been completely fine with not signing free agents. 😅
    • Feels like a good time to issue a reminder.  Two years ago, J’Ville spent a fortune in FA.   That was the year they surprised the NFL giving the little WR, Kirk 4/72 which had incentives into the $80’s.   And J’Ville went on to have a good season.    Many here showered the Jaguars with applause and wondered why can’t the Colts do that?!   But here’s what they forget….   In the 10 years BEFORE that one, no team spent more in FA than the Jaguars.   $1.4 BILLION dollars.  That’s billion with a B.  And I think they had one post season appearance to show for it.  So most years Jacksonville “won” free agency and they had almost nothing to show for it.    So when @GoColts8818 says the “winner” of FA typically doesn’t have a very good season, he is correct.  It was his comment that triggered my memory about Jacksonville’s lost decade.  Thanks, GC!
