They why is owner running around saying we are over the cap? This isn't the first time he's said this either, he said earlier this year on twitter to explain why we didn't go after Gurrard. BAV I know you probably understand the cap better than any of us here but is it possiable something changed with the new CBA? Like I said earlier though I always thought he point of a hard cap is that you couldn't go over it. Which is why I think most of us are trying to figure exactly how the Colts can be the 8 mil over the cap Irsay says we are.

As for Manning the bonus is prorated some how becuase the 28 mil number that is being thrown out there is what it would cost us to cut him. I've read several places this year his cap number next year we keep him is closer to 17 million I think. I could very well be wrong about the 17 million number but i now it was less than the 28 mil.

You can be over the cap for future years, you just can't be over the cap for the current year.

We can (probably) save $21M against the cap next year easily.

Irsay said the 8 million is THIS year, CS also said that under the new CBA you can do that now. I don't know but it sounds like something changed under the new CBA. Maybe it's a one year thing because of the new CBA with the shortened off-season I don't know and can't really explain it. Like you I always assumed a hard cap ment just that, hard as in you can't go over it. Irsay keeps saying we re over the cap this year though so either Irsay is wrong or something has changed.

Also Mannng would cost $17 mil next year if we keep him I found this

Forget that, the first person to talk after they replayed the intervew was Sanders and the first words out of his mouth were the Colts can't pay Peyton Manning 28 million next season and they had to cut him and draft Luck and start over. Everyone else on the panel clearly watched the interview and said they would keep Peyton (if healthy) and regardless of Peyton still draft Luck.

I wouldnt listen a word from Deion. He is a big time Manning hater.

He always finds an opportunity to bash Manning.

Another jealous dude with a big mouth.

Like was said earlier, you know your cap stuff. I'm more than happy to defer to you. But I could have sworn that there are cap exceptions for teams with players on IR. I might be confusing the NFL with the NBA, like others obviously are.

There you go! Can you imagine how dominating the left side of the line would be with Castanzo at guard and Kalil at tackle?

If we did draft Kalil which I wouldn't be opposed to IF PEYTON IS HEALTHY, Castanzo would move to RT not guard. He is not a guard & is way too tall to be a guard at 6'7. Also is not the greatest run blocker for guard.

    • The roster page has now been updated, Ogletree is no longer listed as on the exempt list. So my bad, Holder was right.    Good news.
    • Was that the only good receiver taken in that draft? And did they give up multiple picks?
    • Yeah, I have no beef with MHJ as a prospect (I think some are pumping him up a little too much, and there's some name recognition probably influencing the way he's talked about). It would be awesome to have him on the Colts. But just like every other draft prospect in history, the possibility exists that he will not live up to the pre-draft expectations.    But during the pre-draft process, fans and media start falling in love with players. Terms like "generational talent," "future superstar," etc., start getting thrown around. And now we're talking about a prospect as if he's a lock for the HOF before he's even played a game in the NFL. That's fine, it's fun, we all do it. But that's different from actually scouting, setting a board, and making decisions for the team.   Each of us can point to a previous prospect that we loved and raved about and had them fitted for a gold jacket, but who bounced out of the league within 3-4 years. And the same is probably true for NFL scouts and decision makers. Which is why Ballard's comment today -- there is no such thing as a perfect prospect -- is so important to remember. I'm not against the team identifying a guy they really want and going up to get him, but I hope they're not just doing it with stars in their eyes.
    • Would Cincy have made the SB without taking Chase at #5. I got the answer, and it is easy, it is a FAT NO. They would have never got by KC as great as Burrow is. Giving up next years 1st round pick isn't the end of the world to land a generational WR. We still have picks in rounds 2-7 if we did that.
    • Definitely was, but essentially all of them received the same punishment initially.     Just thought it was curious, especially right before the draft. Has to put the CB spot for the Eagles in limbo.     Been wondering if Jontay Porter's NBA lifetime ban had any play in the decision.   Rodgers did bet on his own team.
