any update on reggie wayne?

Recommended Posts

Chargers I heard because of Telesco

Telesco is one reason, the other being they were looking to pay more for Andre but he chose the Colts over San Diego. The speculation is Reggie might be a back up plan for Telesco, but in honesty the chargers have made no moves towards the Wayne camp yet to indicate interest.

I'd say if he is signed at this point, it will be as a teams emergency choice.

Reggie Wayne is a New Orleans native. He has even said he grew up watching Eric Martin play for the Saints.

If the Saints signed him, I will forgive them for the recent moves of pure insanity they have made in the last week.

He will always be one of my favorite players I wish wore black and gold, and a very likable guy off the field.

I can't imagine he'd want to sign with a team that is cleaning house and potentially rebuilding but I could be wrong.  It'll be interesting to see where he goes or if he retires.

Since Reggie is still recovering from injury I'd highly doubt he gets picked up very soon.  He is gonna have to prove that he can still play (possibly go to some try-outs).  I mean we all saw how much he regressed last year.  With that tricep injury he could barely catch the ball at times.   I'd say no way he comes back to the Colts at this point.  After they went and publicly said that he won't return, he won't be coming back.  No matter how thin we get at the position.

If anyone signs Reggie it will probably be later in free agency after the dust settles some.  It would have to be a contender who needs a WR that didn't get one in free agency or the draft.

....you're probably right....I keep looking for news on him and there wont be any until after the draft at least

I hope when FA is more or less done, the colts see they have 6M$ left over and sign him to a 1 year 1M$ deal. The man deserves another ring

Were already looking at a receiver getting cut. Most likely whalen. Adding reggie would probably get moncrief or carter cut and stunt the wr corps growth. And theyre probably going to get a receiver this year's.

Are you so sure? In 2014 we had 8 WR on the active roster: TY Hilton, Reggie Wayne, Hakeem Nicks, Donte Moncreif, Griff Whalen, Josh Cribbs, Josh Lenz, and Ryan Lankford.

As of right now, we have 8 WR on the active roster: TY Hilton, Donte Moncreif, Griff Whalen, Andre Johnson, Duron Carter, Josh Lenz, Ryan Lankford, Kadron Boone.

I think we could cut one of the last 3 to make room for Reggie Wayne. The problem is not finding room for him on the roster, it's dressing him for games.

I think Whalen will be our PR/KR this year.

Also, why the FACK woud we cut last years 3rd round draft choice (Moncreif) or a guy we just signed (Carter) Do you realize we have players on the team other than starters? Guys for depth, guys for when TY gets tired. Guys for when we go into 3 and 4 wr sets? Suggesting that we would cut Carter or Moncreif if we sign Wayne is ridiculous.

Yes you are right, my bad. Last year, we had 6 WR take the field, Hilton, Wayne, Nicks, Moncreif, Cribbs, Whalen.

This year so far it will be, Hilton, Johnson, Moncreif, Carter, Whalen and ???

Wayne is possible, just unlikely.

Cribbs was primarily a PR/KR. Really only five wrs

Yes I get that, but he is listed as a WR, and he's gone/we haven't replaced him. I suppose a RB could be a PR/KR, but it will likely be a WR, like Griff Whalen. We dressed 6 before, we will likely dress 6 again.

    • https://www.nfl.com/news/bill-tobin-longtime-nfl-executive-dies-at-age-83   He drafted some all time great players like Harrison, and of course is famous for his verbal match with Mel Kiper. RIP!
    • Then begs the question. Do u want to say draft a MJH at 4 and turn around in 4 years or would u say draft Turner and pay him 30mill in 4 years? All day every day for the franchise rush end. I am not a big believer in 30 mill for a wr. Reid is a fantastic coach and look what he did with Hill.
    • I literally just posted that clip, it's where the conversation about QBs started.
    • Funny you brought this up.  I just listened to an interview Ballard did today with Rich Eisen.  He asked him if he has given any thought on how many quarterbacks will be taken before our pick and how many does he think.  He said sure we go through those evaluations.  It helps us with for planning purposes.  He asked him how many.  4 or 5 or 6?   He laughed out loud at 6.  He said Rich if it’s 6 we will be so excited.  Let’s hope so.  He also said the draft board is not yet set.  Won’t be until the night before the draft.  He also said he has had multiple conversations with other GM’s concerning the draft.  Preparing themselves for opportunities that could take place.  And they will continue up until the draft starts.  He said trade conversations won’t really materialize until you are within three picks of any trade.  Giving you time to finalize it.  Interesting interview.  Oh he pretty much ruled out moving up for Harrison.   Going up into the top of the draft would be very costly for him he said.  Thinks he’s a great talent but he thinks he’s pretty much out of our reach.
    • I personally wouldn’t touch Williams with a 10 foot pole. He seems like a distraction and cancerous. He may be Uber talented but I don’t feel like he is a winner, and don’t feel like his heart is in it. I think he gets the bag and just sets it on cruise control. There is absolutely nothing to base this off of aside from my gut feeling.  Maye Daniels  Penix Nix McCarthy   Maye is your prototype passer and I think his deficiencies are easily fixed with good coaching.   Daniels seems the most limited to me, proficient and will be very dependent on where he goes.    Will always have a soft spot for Penix, he throws such a pretty deep ball. His 40 time should have opened some eyes.   Nix is probably the safest pick IMO. I think he’s got the tools to fit nearly any offense. Has the athleticism, arm talent and I think he’s got the between the ears to excel in most offenses.   I see the appeal with McCarthy, he was as unselfish as they come allowing the run game to shine instead of checking to pass plays. I think his ceiling is a solid game manager.
