Andre terms from multiple sources

This goes to show how badly guys wanna be around Andrew Luck.

Chargers reportedly offered Andre Johnson more money than he got with the Colts

These contracts are all pretty easy to get out of. Looks like each guy can be cut with (relatively) little dead money after 2015.

So for dead money. That would be the guaranteed money divided by the length of the contract?

Not quite. Signing bonuses are spread out over the contract and if cut before the end you get that dead money from other years. The colts have not been doing big signing bonuses. Instead we have been doing things like guaranteeing the first year or two of base salary and guaranteed roster bonuses which are not spread out. So that means after a certain year in the contract almost all the guaranteed money is in the past and you can cut them no problem.

Adams cap hit is probably $2.45m in 2015. Those incentives sound like they'd be LTBE.

Okay, so Grigson has added $36.45m to the 2015 salary cap since the end of the season.

We're pending a resolution on Trent Richardson, and probably will be for a while. Potential cap casualties at this point include Donald Thomas and Gosder Cherilus.

And unless details change, the projected 2016 payroll is around $113m.

I'm assuming with the Irving contract now done (not sure of details yet)  but I'm guessing of a cap hit round $2.5 Mill,  that would put our cap hit added number right around $39 Mill.      (Taking your figure and adding my guess to it)

Is that roughly what you have?

Would you say we're done with Free Agency unless we find a veterans minimum type of player?

I like this, tremendously. He's been the modern day Barry Sanders @ WR, in terms of epic talent marooned on a island of incompetence. This dude wants a SB bad, more than a few million bones. That's impressive.

Unless we do something with Cherilus and/or Thomas, or the Richardson grievance is resolved quickly (which isn't likely), yeah, we're probably done. Unless, like you said, a minimum type of player.

Nate Irving details: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/indianapolis-colts/nate-irving/

2015 cap hit of $1.25m. Goes to $2.75m, then $3m. There are per game roster bonuses that total $750K over three years, and then another $500K in (I assume) offseason roster bonuses in 2016 and 2017. So it's actually three years, $7.25m, not $9.25m. Unless there are incentives that aren't reported on Spotrac, which could be the case.

So Grigson has added $37.7m to the 2015 cap. Projected cap in 2016 is under $116m.

then take lucks 20plus, and hiltons 9, that puts us close if the cap raises to 150...This needs to be our year.

That's not really how it works. I doubt that either Luck or Hilton have cap hits that are very close to their yearly averages in 2016.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/indianapolis-colts/cap/

Per Spotrac, with adjustments and filling in a gap for Deveron Carr's contract, here's where the Colts stand capwise:

Total active contracts: 72

Total cash output: $132m

Adjusted 2015 salary cap, including 2014 rollover -- $152.4m

Total 2015 cap obligations, including dead money and projected draft picks -- $150.7m

Top 51 2015 cap obligations, including projected draft picks -- $142.5m

Adjusted cap space -- $9.9m

We have 9 draft picks, and we still have to make roster space for UDFAs (which is usually at least 15), so we probably have 6-10 players on the roster right now that won't be on the roster a week after the draft. None of this will have a big impact on the offseason cap number, which only counts the top 51 contracts against the cap.

However, accounting for future adjustments, it's unlikely we make anymore significant additions with that extra $9.9m we have, at least not now. The projected cash number is already at $132m. That will be adjusted down once the roster gets thinned out, and some vets might not even make it to camp. But if you assume that Hilton, Allen, Fleener and Castonzo will be getting new deals, their signing bonuses will push that cash number up further. We had a low cash number last season ($112m), so that will be offset this season.
