Who will replace DQ and Toler? We can't just cut starters that contribute without having a solid plan. I'd still like to hear who's better than Toler at the #2 cb spot.

Let's sign Revis for $2 mil a year isn't an answer.

If you are going to cut guys, especially ones that made a pro bowl (laugh all you want).  You need to have an idea on who you are going to get to replace them.  Who do you think we are going to get to replace these guys?   Are we going to get every free agent target we want for the money we have to spend?

I am so glad the posters on forums aren't real front office folks.

We have enough holes to fill without creating more by cutting Toler and DQ. I mean it isn't happening. We just need a ILB who can cover TE's and RB's playing next to DQ, and they'd be a solid duo. And Toler was really good this season.

Dont you realize that we are going to replace all the cuts with All-Pro rookies and sign the best free agents at every position at discounted prices?

Kind of the notion I'm seeing from 80 percent of the posters on here theses days...

no more cuts except donald and trich

Yep...and I sure hope they DO cut Donald Thomas....more so even than Trent.

A slimmed down Trent could be OK as a backup.  Thomas is just an injury waiting to happen...as soon as we need him he will be back in the shop for an extended stay.

Yeah just wait till you see the Colts RB core also with Adrian Peterson, Demarco Murray, Frank Gore, Tevin Colemen, Melvin Gordon, Amir Abdullah, David Cobb, Herron, Bradshaw and Ballard. They can all split carries and I'm sure the Colts will make enough room on the active roster for all of them. Maybe even throw on Reggie Bush for the heck of it.

I would also keep Trent Richardson as the 12th string back just encase of injuries.

Grab Luck a RB.

And another reliable WR.

Tweak the OL and watch him light up the scoreboard.

Good. If we sign McPhee and get Mathis back we can have Werner and Newsome as backups. No need to pay Walden over 5 million to be a backup.

Walden 5 million? Backup? You lost me. Walden was our best OLB this year. He had 6 sacks from the strong side and played the run well. He is making 4.25 million. Do you think McPhee is going to be cheaper? Mcphee play rush LB and he didn't have more sacks that Walden. Also, Mathis is going to be a big question mark coming back from that injury. He's aging and those types of injuries typically will have a pretty substantial effect on a players speed and quickness.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't look at McPhee, I'm just puzzled at why you and a lot of others here, think that Walden isn't worth his 4 million salary. $4m a year for a vet that is very solid all around player is not over paid. I could understand this if Walden just didn't produce but he has and then some.

By comparison, Paul Kruger, who most people were saying we should sign two years ago has an 8.2 million cap hit and had 11 sacks last year. Walden is not overpaid.

    • I think teams are going to give up the run and force offence to march down the field on a 10 play drive and score. They are going to take away the big play and make Richardson throw intermediate and short passes. The defense believes that he will throw up a pick and/or the offense will stall.  Although,  I dislike the cover 2 defense, it is perfect against a guy like Richardson. The Colts have not shown that they can put long drives together. It is early and it is up to Richardson to make teams attack more. If they continue to run with success and Richardson makes those easy plays.  Then it is a different ball game and it opens up everything. Quite simple actually, lol.  If Taylor is pounding the rock against 4 man fronts because Richardson has improved his accuracy.  Then the D will have to pick their poison. Do you play up to stop the run, short and intermediate passes? Or do they play back to stop the big play? Richardson's evolution, if it happens, will stress the defense probably like no other qb because of his skill set.
    • I think the way people have been talking about him, it makes it seem like he's incapable of making those throws at all. There's a lot of sensationalism about his throwing right now.
    • I think the most surprising thing about this list for me is that Addai isn’t any higher than he is.
    • Lol. Sure, I meant he ALWAYS makes those mistakes. I think you’re smart enough to know that I meant he’s made those mistakes enough that it’s kind of alarming to me. If you’re not alarmed, cool.
    • They do need an offensive mind, though. I said from the moment he was hired there that it was a move that was dead on arrival. Pairing a QB like Fields (and now Willams,) with a guy like Flus wasn’t productive for either side. Both of those QBs would benefit far more from having an offensive guy at the helm than a defensive one. A defensive coach needs to have a strong offensive staff in place to help those young QBs and Flus did not.    Fields is the perfect case in point: he landed in Pittsburgh with a defensive minded head coach who had a strong enough offensive support system to benefit him, and his career is starting to turn around for it.    Think of our own history, did the pairing of Andrew Luck with a defensive guy like Pagano do him any favors? Not really, and in the end it’s probably a big part of the reason that story turned out the way it did.
