Baylor RB ruled ineligible by NCAA for accepting benefits while homeless

"A few months before enrolling, a close family friend approached me and said they didn't want me sleeping on floors and wondering how I was going to eat the next meal," Nacita wrote on his @Salsa_Nacho Twitter account, "so they insisted on putting me in an apartment and helping out with those living expenses.

"Because I accepted that offer instead of choosing to be homeless, I am no longer eligible to play football and pursue my dream. I had no idea I was breaking any rules, but I respect the decision of the NCAA."

 

Don't know if there is more to this story other than this but this makes the NCAA look pretty bad.

NCAA is way too interested in regulating every aspect of their player's lives.  

 

Like it's amazing some of the rules they have.  If you are walking home from practice in the wind and snow and your coach decides to give you a ride so you don't get freaking frostbite. . . Oops NCAA violation

 

If you don't have any money for food and your coach or his family or FREAKING ANYONE (but your immediate family) tries to buy you some food. . . Oops NCAA violation

 

I mean I don't like to listen to college athletes complain about how they don't get paid except for 4 or 5 of free tuition because I think it's bull that they want to get paid more then that.  (Although I do think the scholly's should be guaranteed for 4 or 5 years as long as you follow the rules)  But they have a very good case with things like this.
