Have no idea how this wasn't posted yet.

As far as I can tell,  this wasn't posted because this is the first time it's been reported.

Pagano made no mention of it yesterday in his end of the year media session.   And he was asked about Trent.    So,  while I like Howard Balzar,  I'm not ready yet to accept this as fact.      And just to be clear,   I expect us to cut Trent and eat the dead money.     I'm not defending Trent.

I just haven't seen this anywhere else....

Whatever his family situation is or was good luck overcoming it, but you won't be wearing a Colts uniform next year. I wish you good luck in your next endeavor outside of football Trent.

At this point, Richardson is old news to me. Time to move on & past this story already. JMO.

I heard JMV bring this up on the radio and he and his producer inferred that they have heard a few disturbing rumors about Trent and that if true, would shed new light on this situation. They wouldn't go into it though, meaning it could be nothing but more could come from it.

So you really think the Colts are going to eat over 3 million dollars?

I heard his mother was dying and was in the hospital. That was being talked about last Sunday in the Colts live chat room. I haven't heard anymore on it since then. It could be all nonsense, who knows?

I think that was all just a rumor. Dre Kirkpatrick had tweeted that he talked to Trent's mom after the game.

Why not?   does it make a difference whether you keep him and pay him 3 million to be third string and sit on the bench,   or just pay him the 3 million and cut him and free up the roster spot for a player that may perform?

I mentioned yesterday in another thread that Joe Staysniak on 1070 the fan said he  heard that Trent was kicked out of the facility either Friday or Saturday, what for he did not say.  He was escorted out of the building is what  they said.  They thought the "family emergency" was nothing more then Trent trying to cover his tracks and not make himself look bad. If he really had an emergency why didn't he just pick up a phone and let the team know?

Am I the only one that is wondering if Trent made up the story about a family member being ill?  I hope that isn't the case, but something is really fishy here.

At any rate, so long Trent, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Not the only one.  The whole dying relative thing while potentially true sounded just a touch too convenient.

Same thing with Nixon's car trouble excuse.

The way I take it is like this:

After earlier in the season when Boom started to get more reps, Grigson finally accepted that Richardson was a bust and it was made apparent during the playoffs that they couldn't start him.

If you watch Trent's face on the sideline during the Bengals game, you can tell how upset he is. I think he got frustrated and this perhaps led to some behind the scenes issues.

In all I think this is really a clever way for the Colts to release him, without Grigson looking like he made a bad move. Now they can play the "character issues" card and make it seem like it wasn't because of his bad play. I have no love for Richardson, but I'm a little disturbed at how badly Grigson and Pagano have played it, and tried to cover their tracks. Grigson is the first to say that'd he'd make the trade over and over again. Looks like that was a lie.

I am a Grigson supporter and maintain he has done very well. But under no circumstance will the Richardson trade not be deemed a complete failure. Your fairy tale of how they can release him now due to "character" does nothing to change that. It does not come close to helping Grigson get out from under the trade. It happened. Did not work.

I suppose it could be, but I don't see it that way.

Hind sight can offer illumination, but it can also open a situation up for conspiracy theory.

I believe much of what you said did happen, I just don't necessarily believe the intent you imply. It's convenient, but I'm not certain it took place.

Grigson and the trade? Say that you'd do it over again, under the circumstances at the time, if much different than admitting that this one didn't turn out as we'd all hoped. Giving up a 1st round pick, maybe not the best choice. Picking up a promising RB, great choice. Just didn't work out.

No I agree. I think it's a bad trade regardless. I just think all the stuff with Richardson is  way for Grigs to write off a trade that was a bad decision to start with as "character issues". For him and the staff it'll be that "T-Rich blew his opportunity away himself", instead of "we spent a 1st round on a bust"

IDK, I'm mostly speculating but it seems too convenient. I'm not saying they set out to sabotage him or anything, he self destructed with his own terrible play. But from analysts, NFL players, to fans, everyone knew Trent was playing bad and the Colts should move on. But Pagano was never going to say it. Seems like they waited for the right opportunity and now they have their ammo. Not that I'm upset, good riddance to Trent, hope he does well in his future endeavors. I think us fans will always know the true story though, which Is all that matters I guess.
