Patriots being investigated for Deflating footballs.....(Mega Merge)

Recommended Posts

If this is true, I have absolutely 0 respect for that organization. Purely disgusting. Once a cheater always a cheater.

Breaking: A league source tells me the NFL is investigating the possibility the Patriots deflated footballs Sunday night. More to come.

I'm told at one point the officials took a ball out of play and weighed it. Should hear more tomorrow on this subject.

Told if a league investigation confirms deflated footballs it will result in lost draft picks. Stay tuned.

If they find out they deflated the Colts defesive line then we might be on to something.

On a serious note this didn't impact the game the better team won and hats off to New England but there is so many stories like this where of the Pats aren't flat out cheating they walk right up to the line of it that it just gets old. The sad thing is they don't need to do it. They are a darn good football team without all the shady stuff. They make a great heel wrestling villain because they cheat not because they have to but because they can.

Weird but regardless if the balls were messed w or not it has nothing to do w our ability to stop the run.

Disgusting. If this is true, I hope they get demolished next week and I hope Brady gets injured. Yeah i said it. Torn ACL.  Karma's a b*tch.

Yeah because Brady was on the sidelines deflating the balls...again, wishing injury on someone, you 12 or something?

Nah, just upset that Pats always gotta cheat in some way. Not saying its the reason Colts lost, but it is really disgusting. No other NFL team does this.

I remember them throwing a ball to the sideline once. Thought that was odd

"Hey, deflate this bad boy before the bearded guy in the #12 jersey takes the field"

It doesn't change the running game and those scores, which were enough to beat the Colts easy, but it does call into question the passing game considering the rain slicked balls would be easier to grab if they had more give.

Make no mistake, it likely wouldn't have saved Indy's hide, as nothing really could. It's just a huge disgrace if they are doing these things.

Um yea it does. If luck throws the ball, it doesnt have as much power. Carrying a deflated ball is less prone to fumble then when its fully inflated..

Some type of suspension of coaching staff would also seem appropriate if this is true.

Loss of draft picks would probably be the punishment. But then again, you never know with Mr. Goodell

You'd have to suspend Belichick at this point. I just think you'd have to. You can't suspend Payton for bounties and then let a guy cheat twice and not take it to him. I get that one literally endangered people, but Belichick would be a repeat offender.

But I digress. We don't even know that the league will arrive at the conclusion this happened.

You know if this is true the Pats would be a miltipal time offender under the rule of Goodell. You want to punish the Pats suspend BB for a while, it won't happen but I'd rather see that than a loss of a draft pick.

Not that it would have changed anything about the game likely, but it shows you again how petty the Patriots are to do anything they can to gain an advantage.

Thanks for that peril of wisdom. I would have never figured that out.

If this is true, then they should tell them that they can't play in the super bowl !!!  hahaha.  Or play the game over, except this time in Indy !!!  But they definitely need to be fined and/or suspended and draft picks taken away if it is true.

Perhaps he did?

or was the deflated balls just for the Patriots?  For them to grip the ball better?

So the power Luck puts on the ball has anything to do w our ability to stop the run? Foolish post.

    • Here's how I look at it. It's very rare for a team to win a SB with an average QB. Typically their QBRs are pretty high. I saw a graphic or tweet IIRC that only one team in the modern era has won the SB with a QBR under 50. And that was Manning in Denver. Talk about the perfect game manager (with declining skills) on a team with an elite defense. Their O was still decent/average (ranked 16th). Their D was #1.    JB's QBR now is like 47, and that's with one of the best OLs in the league. Our D (pts per game allowed) is like 16th. Even if our D gets back up to like 10, that's still not a SB winning combination. I also ask what is more likely, finding a QB that will be top 10ish (60 or higher QBR), or creating a #1 D to offset a sub 50 QBR. IMO, finding a 60ish QBR guy is probably the easier road.   I really love JB as a person. Awesome guy, hard worker, etc.. I'd love for him to improve and become that guy. I just see several very "fundamental" limitations to his game, that I'm not sure will improve all that much over the course of a season (or even two). My biggest fear is that we get stuck in a fog of mediocrity, trying to make things work for a few years. Purely my opinion, but if I don't see significant improvement by the last quarter of the season, I'm probably moving on.
    • Did Campbell have injury issues at OSU?   Is it too early to say bye to Lewis lol
    • To the OP, to answer your question it is because he plays for Alabama. Most loved Fromm before last week  , he lost with a stacked team vs an unrated SC team. Fromm also ranks very low when throwing completions in the air down field 10 yards or more. Tua is no Andrew Luck, lets not fool ourselves.
    • This is right on point. If for some reason they can’t play we are going to have to go with a very vanilla and basic scheme. Won’t be able to confuse Watson either. Losing our two starting corners in this game would be bigger then not having our safeties against KC.  Especially with the Texans offense. They spread the ball around a lot. Having Desir out means Wilson plays on the outside which limits packages and looks. If Moore can’t go we have another rookie in Taylor in the slot. So Eberflus would keep it simple.
