With the 29th pick in the 2015 NFL draft the Indianapolis Colts select...

Thank you lol. I'm tired of all this "Take Jaelen Strong in the 1st round, he's BPA". When you have a defense that lacks play makers like we do, that is thrown out the window.

Grigs would be crazy to pass over a Carl Davis, Nate Orchard, Jordan Phillips, or even Michael Bennett for another receiver. I'd be okay with O line too if the right guy fell, but this needs to be a defensive based draft.

He would not be crazy to pass over Nate Orchard.

First we need a couple impact players in FA.

Sign Byron Maxwell at CB and Devin McCourty at FS

Next, take a Defensive Lineman in the 1st round. Dante Fowler Jr would be a dream, but he has quickly risen up boards. I would be very happy with Eddie Goldman or Danny Shelton at DT, then Jake Fisher with our 2nd rounder.

Free agents are just band aids to cover a need. Top notch free agent linemen are very expensive. Most who hit the free market are either past their prime or have some other problems. Good linemen are kept because they are hard to find. JMO

Hey, after thinking about it, OL (unless a very good OT drops to us like Castanzo did in 2011) and DL take time to start producing, we have enough years of data to know that. OL, I still believe continuity and coaching is the issue. After a few years of OL picks, it does come down to coaching, continuity and schemes. Those need to be looked at closely more than anything else.

We either need to go with secondary or BPA based on who drops, IMO. If it is WR, so be it.

As much as liked what Herron did this season, he is not an NFL starting RB. Richardson ( and it kills me to say that) has to go, Bradshaw has to go because I'm sick of him only being able to play 25% of the games, Ballard is damaged goods and you count count on him to stay healthy. What impact players will be left at the bottom of the 1st rd ?/

Herron does a nice job with catching out of the backfield and as a change of pace. I think he's a nice complement RB.

During the season, everyone says we need a better defense and then when the  draft gets here, we immediately think offense.  We have to go defense hard and heavy either in the draft or in FA.  We couldn't do anything to stop the Steelers, Cowboys, and Pats and these are the teams we have to get by to make the Super Bowl.  Pagano was right.  Run the ball and stop the run.

Nothing wrong with "band aids". FA is just as important as, and similar to, the draft. It all comes down to smart decisions.

D'Qwell Jackson and Arthur Jones was smart decisions, and improved our team significantly this season. I'll take that any day.

Hopefully Gordon or Gurley. I completely agree with the argument that we have bigger needs, but if we have a shot at a potential workhorse every down back I think it would be silly to pass up.

Looking at the big picture every free agent rb has a big price tag and mileage. The Colts are still a very young team they should build, not buy missing pieces. Save the cap $$$ do address oline and defensive needs, not to mention if Wayne retires signing a veteran wr will be a must.

Lets hope not ... drafting a RB in the 1st would be a horrible move for us.  This board will melt down if Grigson drafts a RB in the 1st round.

All of my friends who are Colts fans are saying they want a RB in the 1st round. I seem to be the odd man out. That position should just be a plug and play once the O-Line is solid. I say we go D-Line in the 1st, O-Line in the 2nd, & RB in the 3rd.

1. Vic Beasley/ Dante Fowler/ or Eli Harold

2. AJ Cann/ Laken Tomlinson

3. Ameer Abdullah/ Jay Ajayi/ or Tevin Coleman

I had a weird dream that I was in charge of the Colts draft, but it was over the computer like fantasy football. I had to step away for something super important, and the computer auto-drafted a quarterback.

I'm losing my mind.

Well don't fall asleep while you're sleeping and you wouldn't have that problem.  Duh...

Denzel Perryman ILB Miami. or Ogbuehi OT I have seen him rated as high as the 2nd OT coming out then seem him slip out of the first round in some mocks. I still love Collins OT from LSU.

I really hope Grigs doesn't take a running back in the first round or even in the first 2 days. They just aren't that hard to find if you have a line that can open holes.

We can keep Boom at a cheap price the fumbles and dropped passes should assure we get him back pretty cheap. We sign a FA Helu, Spiller someone who can come in and handle part of the load or take over right away. We bring in a late round pick and a couple of UDFA's.

We still have Tipton can't imagine Trent coming back at this point although I guess we don't know what the story was seems like a headcase at this point.

I got bad news for all of us Ballard fans he is going to have a hard time making it back.

We've got OG and WR covered now as Grigson has once again raided the CFL for their finest.  Well, you never know.  They could pan out.

Our needs are: OL, DL ILB, RB, #1WR, Safety.  Can anybody tell me what we're doing at Center?  Harrison was a bust.  At least one penalty a game and a bunch of missed blocks.  If Khaled Holmes is the answer, then why was he not starting until very, very late in the season.  Don't tell me he was hurt because he went out in first series of first game with a high ankle sprain.  He played some guard in spot duty from about mid-season on as well.  I couldn't figure out what Pagano was thinking at this position all year.  They need to draft a Center just to make sure Harrison doesn't have to take the field again. B.J. Finney of Kansas State or Brandon Vitabile of Northwestern would do the trick.  I like my OL, especially my Center to be both smart and athletic.  Finney was pre-Med and Vitabile was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.  They'll know their assignments and the snap count.

    • @2006Coltsbestever @NFLfan   Kirk has been treated much better and with much more respect than Wentz was treated in Indy. And was showed with Love and truckloads of money in Minnesota, and was defended constantly with much more ferocity by Vikings fans than people defending Ballard in Grievances thread.    it'd be crazy to think of injustice against Kirk for a few minority who criticize his play.    We're Going back and forth on Kirk debate which will go on for eternity, but I struck Gold when I saw recently @Superman explaining how he felt watching Wentz playing with other teams before he got to Indy and how it felt watching him play for Colts when you're emotionally invested with the franchise.    There's no other way to perfectly describe Kirk Cousins' career and his QB play.   For every fan around the NFL, especially for fantasy football fans, Kirk will be a hero. But, when you're emotionally invested in your favourite franchise and Kirk plays QB for your team, you wouldn't come close to understanding how excruciatingly frustrating his play and smartness and game awareness, that all contributes to team missing playoffs many years and even when they qualify, no one sees Kirk as a threat in playoffs. Ever.   Anyway, happy to pass on that frustration over to Falcons fans, they'd know soon. First of all, Kirk takes at least a season to trust his OL, even if you put an elite line and weapons around him, and it's all in his head. I'm going to sit back and read Falcons forums for Fun in 2024 Season! Good Times!
    • I have no idea how it will all shake out, but I have my popcorn ready.
    • There are no owners in the NFL that are perfect people. Some owner's demons are more public, some not so much, but they all have them. There's much more to the free agency issue and the Colts than most are aware of. There are a lot of intangibles most will never consider. That said, there is more to almost every aspect of any organization that most will ever be aware of. Those are often the things that matter most.
    • You can't measure what is "right" in a vacuum, or just by "feel". It takes so much more than that. The Colts front office performance is judged in relationship with all the other teams in the NFL. Just trying to objectively align the different perspectives of the scouting and coaching staff requires more sophisticated evaluation methods than what we saw in the video.   It doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling, but I understand this is the way a lot of organizations work.
    • https://www.stampedeblue.com/2024/4/1/24118330/i-pity-the-fool-mock-draft     Trade Colts 2nd round (440)   For   Packers pick 58 and 91 (456)   Packers select Zach Frazier C West Virginia 6'2 314lbs Logic: Packers replace Jon Meyers who gave up 5 sacks and had a pff grade of 55.8   Colts trade pick 58 and Kwity Paye   For   Saints Marshon Lattimore CB 27 years old and a conditional 2025 4th (depending on snaps could be 3rd) From Over the cap The team trading for Lattimore would take on his contract as is. They would have the decision to either pick up the option to defer the cap charges or to simply take all of the hit in 2024. Here is the cost on the cap if the team picks up the option in the contract:   Year Salary Cap Charge Dead Money 2024 $15,000,000 $12,000,000 2025 $18,000,000 $0 2026 $18,500,000 $0 2027 (void) $0 $0 Lattimore has no guaranteed money in his contract after 2024 so there is nothing that would lock a team into him beyond this year. Colts Logic: We wanted some experience in the secondary. We wanted a shutdown corner. So we give the Saints a offer they can not refuse. In the first 2 rounds we address most of our defensive woes. Saints Logic: Saints are switching to a 4-3 defense this year and just let Michael Thomas walk. They have always been cap wizards but this may be the year to start a new with the changes listed above. Lattimore has only played 17 games these past two seasons and even though he's a top 12 CB when healthy he has been dinged up. Kwity Paye can start at DE until Chase Young is healthy.
