Richardson didn't travel with the team to New England (Merge)

Recommended Posts

Certainly did not need firing but.......................................................

the BLIND FAITH in TR for nearly 2 years was kinda ....       "puzzling" ..

Good for them .. they (INDY) figured it out..........

FINALLY>

That was my point, Pagano does not deserve to be fired over TRich.

If we're stuck with his salary (no team willing to trade), then I'm fine with keeping him around next season -- at least through camp. He wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination but he had a few decent/good games and wasn't terrible like last year.

He still has some utility in pass protection and when getting the ball in space. He'll be in a contract year next season. If that doesn't motivate him to lose significant weight and work hard in the off season then he's probably done. I'd be curious to see if he can show anything in camp if he's able to lose ~20 pounds and in a contract year. However, I don't think there's any chance of him being with the Colts after next year.

They are stuck paying him if he reports to camp no matter what, but unless he came in on fire then I would cut him a check and have him escorted from the building. His roster spot would have more value then what he brings to the table.

Best case scenario is he is so mad about being benched that he just acts a fool and quits. Then you don't have to pay him.

Maybe the Colts should have someone get in his ear and suggest such a move. Tell him that it would be better to take a season off then to be treated poorly and benched while he has been playing such great football.

They have tipton. Trent is home doing laundry

LOL...I just posted my comment about him not having clean underwear without having read this thread and you posted that just before mine....man what a weird coincidence.

Furthermore...I bet this weird coincidence translates into a Colts win right? I mean I don't know how you can't see it that way right ???

We should have all seen this coming, but a lot of people were fooled. The writing was on the wall though

1. He came out of the same system as Ingram who has been a bust as well

2. Huge holes at Alabama+got a billion carries

3. Jim Brown said there was nothing special about him

4. Had a low YPC with the Browns

5. Got 25-30 touches a game his rookie year

6. Browns have a pretty good O-line

He was probably never that good to begin with. People need to stop with all this "He's not a fit here" and "He catches and blocks really well". Trent just isn't that good, just like Jamarcus Russell wasn't good. He is a "bust" in every sense of the word.

I don't see how he'll be back on the roster next season.

While he is a bust, i almost always saw a positive play out of Trent any time the ball was dumped off. I dont see why we couldn't use him more as a feature back role, hes awesome in open space. Thats about it though

EDIT: thats not to say im a Trent supporter, just think we could have done a better job at looking at his abilities and getting the most out of that horrible trade

Geez, it's not the end of the world. There are first rounds bust just about every year of the draft. That is why it is said a draft really cant be graded till year 2 or 3 after the draft. Grigson took a gamble, it didn't work out. So what? Move on and be glad the larger part of the players drafted did work out. Crying over spilled milk does no one any good.

That spilled milk must taste pretty sour now in the front office over this one.

On a side note...did anyone post a thread about Xavier Nixon not traveling either...not sure why there.

But back to TRich... I still think he will be on the roster next year... as what I have no clue... I just don't see the Colts cutting him but I guess it all depends on what they can conjure up in terms of draft and free agent signings.

Maybe TRich makes the "comeback player of the year award" next year...maybe as a Fullback, maybe a Tight End...or maybe an offensive lineman haha.

He has the second worst ypc of any back with 500 carries since the merger.

Now you could find other backs with poor stats and say this guy did this or that worse then Trent, but the fact remains that Trent has the second worst ypc.

Ypc might not matter every game, but over the course of a season it matters.

Name a running back with a low ypc who helps shift momentum in a game or who can help control the clock when needed. There aren't any.

I guess you didn't read my post.

One name on the list is Leroy Kelly of Cleveland.     He's a Hall of Famer.

And just like that,   the list is dust......

You are a TRICH LOVER     admit it.

No seriously though, definitely one of the worst trades I've seen...if it was a second round pick we dealt it' would lessen the blow but indeed missing that first round pick hurt us for a quality depth or potential starter player.

1.Wrong, Ingram had a good year this year and has stayed pretty healthy

I'd be interested in what the personal reasons were, Its very very doubtful that he did not travel with the team just because he sucks, I wonder if it has to do with the interview he gave just a few days ago or something morehttp://www.indystar.com/story/sports/2015/01/15/trent-richardson-its-never-going-to-happen-again/21820391/ .

He did kind of get the shaft this year in 3-4 games where he was running well if you look at it objectively, He was well on his way to a good running day but for various reasons we quit running him. I know he has been awful though the majority of the time here so this is not one of them defending Richardson post.......I think most here know where I stand on the matter.....But there was games where we just quit on him he was running well where he could have gained confidence......He clearly has none at this point

Just my thoughts

TRich did not travel because he's upset that he was going to be left off the active roster when he just publicly promised it wouldn't happen again.

ESPN's Mike Wells called it....  "sulking"....

He's hurt and embarrassed.

Nixon's case is also interesting.....   the team told him to stay home....   he probably offered to fly himself to Boston to be there even if he was going to be inactive....    but the team said to stay home.....    that's not good for his future....

Will be interesting to see how these play out....

Leroy Kelly has a career 4.3 YPC and won the rushing title twice.

You're argument is pretty awful when you have to exclude arguably the most important stats for RBs out of the equation. That's like going "Oh you think [blank QB] is inaccurate?, go ahead and make the argument, but don't bring up completion%".

Your post, much like Trent Richardson, was awful.

Hey,  you're the one who provided the list with a Hall of Famer on it,  not me...

Like I posted in the Nixon thread.

Trent stayed behind to get all the tables and chairs and beers for the championship win party when the Colts get back home. With such a low average yard per carry and the amount of chairs and beer that's going to need to be brought in it'll take Trent awhile to get this done.

Nixon stayed behind because Trent needed someone to give him emotional support and cheer him on during the setup process there...

It happens? So what now? Not every pick or trade works out. I think there is a lot more to think about with what's in front of us now. The T Rich story is old news at this point. It has been hashed out and worn out for a while now. Move on.

Did he have better options? End result is a trip to the AFCCG

Clearly he did have better options. Maybe if he would've let the other backs who were capable of averaging over 3 yards per carry last season get more touches they would've developed more confidence and chemistry with the o line and we go all the way instead of having luck throw 45 plus times per game

Bradshaw carried the ball a lot before his injury. The staff must have felt that boon and tipton weren't ready. They are now, and just in time for the AFCCG

its not like it gets any worse than trent. it was just a terrible judgement call and says a lot about him as a coach.

You better believe it that it's so played out with the 41 pages of everything Trent-Don't thing recall so much posting for a player before.
