Patriots 17 vs Colts 3 -- Halftime

Well the Colts played great football for 25 of the 30 minutes. Then Tom Brady found out the Colts defense's weakness and just picked them apart. They scored 2 touchdowns in 2 and a half minutes.

On offense, Dan Orlovsky started out hot, completing his first 7 passes and was really moving the ball. He got them all the way to the one, but a penalty and bad protection cost them. As the half went on, Orlovsky got worse. The running game has been mediocre at best. Joseph Addai has done nothing special, and Donald Brown has done nothing either. They really need to get going if they want to have a chance at winning or even scoring points. The protection has been pretty bad. The Patriots sacked Dan Orlovsky quite a few times, one of which was on a 3rd down. They need to give him protection so he could make his reads and hit his targets. He's been pressured and he's rushing his throws, two of which were nearly intercepted. Better protection = better quarterback play.

On defense, they played extremely well for the 1st quarter and for the 1st half of the second quarter, but then it started dying. Tom Brady just picked them apart, and made it look easy. He completed a lot of passes to Wes Welker and Deion Branch. Later in the half, there were a lot of blown coverages. They have been pretty good against the run, not allowing any big runs, and besides the Green-Ellis TD, the RBs have been pretty silent. The pass defense is becoming weaker, and that's due to the pressure by the Colts D-line. The D-line generated great pressure early on, but as the pressure died down, the pass defense got weaker, and Tom Brady just picked them apart. They need to step it up and play consistent. If they play like they did in the 1st quarter, they could win.

The special teams have been good. Pat McAfee is playing well and Adam made a field goal. The Colts got their longest punt return of the season. That's pretty much it.

The play-calling has been obvious at times. They need to mix it up more, instead of just going run heavy, then pass heavy. Make it unpredictable. Not bad thus far, but they need to win back the momentum. GO COLTS!
