Theyre looking at him because he is the best young free agent available. They obviously dont have much faith in t-rich. Bradshaw cant take more than 15 carries before hes hurt. Leshoure gets signed after week 1 ends up starting week 5. Count it

I love when people say "count it" or "book it" Especially when there is zero to base it on. What ramifications are involved if you are wrong? If the answer is, nothing, then the "count it" portion of the post is nonsense

So Donald Brown is better than Barry Sanders? Because he ran just fine.

Brown had some fantastic runs but that does not mean he ran fine.  Brown did not give the Colts any sort of consistent running game either.  Especially after he got move to the starting position.  Just unlike Richardson who would turn a 0 yard gain into a 0 yard gain and a 5 yard gain into a 6 yard gain, Brown would turn a 0 yard gain into a 0 yard gain but a 5 yard gain into a >20 yard gain.

And I'm a Brown fan and was happy that he finally got to run behind a man blocking scheme of which I long thought he would excel.

Jvan1973 how you say i can nothing to base it on.. how about t rich averaging under 3 yards per carry in the preseason or the fact that bradshaw has been hurt every single season hes played(most seasons with multiple injurys). Lastly, leshoure is meeting with the team. That alone is enough to base a signing statement. This is a football form, talk about football. Dont troll

1 lots of running backs averaged under 3 a carry in the preseason. They usually do.

2, untrue check your facts. Also many rbs miss time throughout the season. They get hit a lot.

3. Him meeting with the team does not mean he will be signed much less be the starter by week 5

I have to wonder sometimes with people on this forum if they actually watch the games or watch the ball or just look at stats?  Our O-Line is very bad, teams know this and stack the box on run obvious run plays, last season we used mostly passing formations when brown was in the game which led to a lot of 6 man boxes leaving holes to run through, when Richardson was in the game we saw a lot of 8 man fronts and on his first step there were defenders behind our line.  I am not necessarily a huge fan of Richardson however he is NOT the problem our O-line is, just look at the beating our QB takes week in and week out.  Until we fix our line our running game has very little chance of being mediocre at best.

All that said, with the passing game we should be able to put forth we should be able to compensate and set up the run via the pass which is essentially today's NFL anyway.  However again our passing game suffers due to constant pressure on our QB.  I realize it takes time to put together a solid O-line there are very few good ones in the league if you look around, we ARE getting better but we are not there yet.

I am hoping that with the new attitude it seems Pep and Pagano have i.e. not pretending to be a power running team. we have a chance to be much better than the last two years.

Play to our strengths that is what we need to do and I think we will finally do this year.

Many  may disagree with this post some will agree but the proof is on the tape and the eye in the sky never lies, all those complaining about our RB situation go watch the game and focus on the defensive fronts and who is in the game.  I think you will see some things and agree although TRich hasen't been great he is not to blame on most plays.

GO COLTS

At least one person is paying attention. I really hope you are right and Pep gets it and plays to our strengths.

The one player that turned that around, I could have drafted him.

So Hilton, Allen, Fleener and the other draft picks that have made the Colts don't count? So you think all the GMs of the NFL do a better job that Grigson? So do you think that all the GMs but Grigson pick players who make their team ? I think you are way too negative and your post show that.

    • I think teams are going to give up the run and force offence to march down the field on a 10 play drive and score. They are going to take away the big play and make Richardson throw intermediate and short passes. The defense believes that he will throw up a pick and/or the offense will stall.  Although,  I dislike the cover 2 defense, it is perfect against a guy like Richardson. The Colts have not shown that they can put long drives together. It is early and it is up to Richardson to make teams attack more. If they continue to run with success and Richardson makes those easy plays.  Then it is a different ball game and it opens up everything. Quite simple actually, lol.  If Taylor is pounding the rock against 4 man fronts because Richardson has improved his accuracy.  Then the D will have to pick their poison. Do you play up to stop the run, short and intermediate passes? Or do they play back to stop the big play? Richardson's evolution, if it happens, will stress the defense probably like no other qb because of his skill set.
    • I think the way people have been talking about him, it makes it seem like he's incapable of making those throws at all. There's a lot of sensationalism about his throwing right now.
    • I think the most surprising thing about this list for me is that Addai isn’t any higher than he is.
    • Lol. Sure, I meant he ALWAYS makes those mistakes. I think you’re smart enough to know that I meant he’s made those mistakes enough that it’s kind of alarming to me. If you’re not alarmed, cool.
    • They do need an offensive mind, though. I said from the moment he was hired there that it was a move that was dead on arrival. Pairing a QB like Fields (and now Willams,) with a guy like Flus wasn’t productive for either side. Both of those QBs would benefit far more from having an offensive guy at the helm than a defensive one. A defensive coach needs to have a strong offensive staff in place to help those young QBs and Flus did not.    Fields is the perfect case in point: he landed in Pittsburgh with a defensive minded head coach who had a strong enough offensive support system to benefit him, and his career is starting to turn around for it.    Think of our own history, did the pairing of Andrew Luck with a defensive guy like Pagano do him any favors? Not really, and in the end it’s probably a big part of the reason that story turned out the way it did.
