Colts Vs. Saints Preseason Game Night Thread

Recommended Posts

Greetings for another Colts NFL Game Night, Colts fans!  :)   A rematch of Super Bowl XLIV (44) as our Indianapolis Colts are featured in primetime, hosting  the  New Orleans Saints, at the LOS.  :nfl: Saints though defeated our Colts 31-17 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami back on February 7, 2010.

Saints and Colts are also playing a preseason game for the first time both at LOS, and at Indianapolis since 1991. tonight's is also the 13th preseason meeting, with the Colts leading the series 7 games to 5.

Saints though also lead the all-time regular season series 7 games to 5, with the Colts last win back on Opening Week in 2007, when the Peyton Manning-led  Colts defeated the Drew Brees-led Saints 41-10 at the Hoosier Dome, back on September 6, 2007.  Saints also outscored the Colts in those previous 12 regular season games by 282 points to 261 points

Colts are also seeking both their first preseason win in 2014, but also their first home win at LOS tonight.

Brooklyn Nets and New York Jets preseason TV broadcaster Ian Eagle, along with former San Diego Charger QB Dan Fouts, are announcing the live TV game play-by-play and game analysis, along with sideline reporter and interviewer Jenny Dell, for The NFL On CBS, televised nationally thoughout the USA, including locally on WISH CBS Channel 8, live on HD.

Our 'Voice Of The Colts,' Bob Lamey, and Jim Sorgi are also announcing the live radio game commentary, along with sideline reporter and interviewer Matt Taylor, simulcast  on flagship stations WFNI ESPN SportsRadio 1070AM, and WHLK Hank Country 98.1FM, and The Colts/Vectren Radio Network.

LOS roof should be closed for tonight's 8:05PM Eastern Standard Time kickoff, to both keep everyone inside dry, and the crowd noise inside, because outside in Downtown Indianapolis, mostly cloudy skies at 81 degrees, feels like 81 degrees, is the local forecast, along with 83% humidity, 20% precipitation, and mild east/northeast winds at 4 miles per hour.

Saints are wearing the white jerseys, and gold pants, while the host Colts are wearing their home blue jerseys, and white pants.

NO injuries to all the players as they continue to audition for roster spots for the upcoming regular season.  Both the Colts and the Saints, and all NFL teams. must reduce the rosters from 90, to 75 players, in the first mandatory cut down.

Continue to stay both Colts Strong, and Chuck Strong, throughout your 2014 NFL season, and in front of a national TV audience, and GO COLTS!!!!    :cheer:  :coltslogo:  :colts:  :1colts:  :coltsfb:  :coltshorse:  :helmet:  :blueshoe:    :coltslogo:   :cheer:  :D

Amped for this one.....or is it nerves.....anyway, I wanna see what we got. They giving our 1st unit (or we earned) a top 5 overall DEF ranking so far this preseason, then they backhand us by saying Jets and Giants are trash. Tonight.....there will be no excuses. When we lock up NO's run and get in Drew's face, then they can run and tell that.

I do hope to see the saints get destroyed in this game just because surely all of you remember what the saints did to our colts back in 2011 in NO 62-7 the saints need a piece of their own medicine tonight and its payback time.

Interested to see if our D is the real deal. They've been great the first 2 games, but that was against the Jets & Giants... not quite two power house offenses. Should be interesting. No injuries please!

GO COLTS!

Does anyone know what the average temp inside the stadium is? Kinda wondering what to expect at a night game. Rain is going thru the area, so the roof should be closed tonight.

Getting pelted by high winds, lightening and rain here in Indy. Sure hope my power doesn't click off.

    • Didn’t know this guy.  Sounds like a good Round 6 shot...  Nice find!
    • Do you remember who won last year T?    Always a fun contest so thank you for doing it again.    34 A-Denzel Mims, B-Jordan Love, C-Trevon Diggs 44 A-AJ Terrell, B-Brandon Aiyuk, C-Jacob Eason 75 A-Anthony Gordon, B-Terrell Lewis, C-Justin Madubuike 122 A-Davon Hamilton, B-Antoine Winfield JR, C-Matt Peart 160 A-Darrell Taylor, B-James Morgan, C-Charlie Heck 193 A-James Robinson, B-Harrison Hand, C-Colby Parkinson 197 A-Saahdiq Charles, B-Jordan Fuller, C-Derek Tuszka
    • You keep saying things like this (I've seen you say it for 3rd and 4th round qbs as well) but that really makes no sense.   1.  By saying not to draft a player because there is a similar player on the roster is a short sighted view of things.  Kelly is an ERFA after the 2020 season, so it makes no sense to forego a long term plan because there is a short term solution.   2.  You are assuming a 3-7th round QB will not be better than Kelly.  Which is a ridiculous assumption under any circumstances.   3.  I can guarantee that Chad Kelly has absolutely no bearing on the Colts draft board.
    • One of the benefits of a large group of excellent WRs is that you can get a good starter in round 3. In other years.....  these WRs would be drafted in round 1 or 2   It wouldn’t surprise me if Pittman and or Claypool (or 2-3 other Excellent WRs) will still be on the board when we pick in round 3   If Mims is on the board, I’d take him at 34......   If not..... I’d wait and lean more on BPA for  the 2 picks in in second round   This OT class is said to be really good,    Austin Jackson, Ezra Cleveland may still be on the board at 34 / 44   Why OL so early?   Starting OTs especially LTs are very hard to draft.   We also have ZERO quality depth at OT. Zilch, NADA.....   We dodged a bullet by overall health last year..... it would be foolish to think that would happen again.   I believe either of these guys COULD be our starting LT for the next 12 years   We will have to spend draft capitol .....  why not now, when the value may be great?   As said earlier, there are other positions that they may look at at 34...   With 2 FAs at CB coming on board, why consider a CB at 34?   We end up with 5 DBs on the field (Nickle ) a large amount of the time   Trevon Diggs would fit our scheme like no other CB in this draft. 6 foot 1 inch, 205 lb press corners with long arms, that can tackle seems to be a great fit   If we get a starter in round 3 at WR, and possibly a starter at TE in round 4 and a future starter at OT and CB.....   Four years from now, when all 4 are main starters for us, we will be happy that we we went this way.....   It’s about building the long term team, not just filling immediate holes     But, with my ability to pick Colts draft, we will probably get 5 OGs with our first 5 picks.
    • He played nearly exclusively out of the slot last year which that and having Burrow at QB is why he was so successful. I do have a full on write up on him i did back in February if you care enough to take a look. Granted A.J Brown was mostly in the slot at Ole Miss but he had flashed on the boundary enough to make me comfortable thinking he could do it in the pro's, but I did not see that in the film with Jefferson. He has incredible hands but we need a true X receiver and with the likes of Higgins and Mims still on the board i would 10/10 have them over Jefferson.
