Round 1

 

1^st Overall Pick – Atlanta Falcons (from Houston Texans)

Jadeveon Clowney – Defensive End – South Carolina

Clowney is a freak athlete who could change games in one single play. He’s an instinctive player who will read plays and running backs very well. He’s a rare defensive player that you may only see once in a decade. Teams will be trading up for him.

 

2^nd Overall Pick – St Louis Rams (from Washington Redskins)

Sammy Watkins – Wide Receiver – Clemson

Watkins is one of the best receivers to come out of college in the last few seasons thanks to very good athleticism, explosiveness and flawless receiving skills. He need to work on his fundamentals, especially his route running, but this guy is probably going to be a star at the next level, and Sam Bradford could use an all around threat to throw to.

 

3^rd Overall Pick – Jacksonville Jaguars

Teddy Bridgewater – Quarterback – Louisville

Bridgewater is a very technically sound quarterback who makes some very good reads with the football. He has the ability to become a franchise quarterback for almost any team. The Jags desperately need a QB and he, in my opinion, is the best one on the board, despite the iffy pro day.

 

4^th Overall Pick – Cleveland Browns

Blake Bortles – Quarterback – UCF

Bortles improved his stock with a great performance at the combine, and he could be the guy the Browns need. He’s a big-bodied quarterback with a strong arm that can stretch the field. He’d be the perfect guy to throw Josh Gordon the ball.

 

5^th Overall Pick – Oakland Raiders

Khalil Mack – Outside Linebacker / Defensive End – Buffalo

Khalil Mack has been receiving a lot of attention, despite the fact he’s from a small school. Mack is an athletic, lean athlete with very good explosiveness and bend. He’s agile and can get around the corner with quickness and with ease. He’s going to be a very good player at the next level and should be in a few pro bowls.

 

6^th Overall Pick – Houston Texans (from Atlanta Falcons)

Johnny Manziel – Quarterback – Texas A&M

Believe it or not, I think Johnny Manziel is less of a risk than Blake Bortles, but Bortles could end up being the better QB, which is why he goes ahead of Manziel. However, Manziel is one of the best dual threat QBs to come out of college in the last few seasons. He has a very strong arm, and has extremely quick feet. He’s going to be a very good QB in the NFL.

 

7^th Overall Pick – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mike Evans – Wide Receiver – Texas A&M

Having Mike Evans as the number 2 receiver shows just how talented this receivers class is. The Bucs traded their current #2 receiver Mike Williams and they have no one slated to compliment Vincent Jackson. Evans is a big bodied receiver who saved Johnny Manziel on numerous occasions during his career at Texas A&M. He could be the huge playmaker they need to get their offense to the next level.

 

8^th Overall Pick – Minnesota Vikings

Aaron Donald – Defensive Tackle – Pittsburgh

The Vikings lost the Williams wall over the last few seasons (Kevin this season), and now they have a hole up the middle. Aaron Donald impressed everyone with his amazing combine and he put together a solid 2013 campaign to back his combine. He has very good potential and could start from Day 1 for the Vikings.

 

9^th Overall Pick – Buffalo Bills

Greg Robinson – Offensive Tackle – Auburn

It may seem crazy that a guy like Robinson falls to Buffalo. The fact of the matter is, if St Louis doesn’t pick him (which I think they shouldn’t), then the 8 teams above won’t need to pick him as offensive tackle isn’t a need. For Buffalo, offensive tackle is a very big need as their QBs were sacked 46 times last year (in the top 4). Robinson could come in and dominate from Day 1; he’s that special.

 

10^th Overall Pick – Detroit Lions

Justin Gilbert – Cornerback – Oklahoma State

The Lions lack a consistent and strong secondary. Rashean Mathis was their top cornerback last season, and although he didn’t play badly, his career is almost over and he’s a free agent. They need a cornerback desperately. They have a great front 7, but they need a secondary to complete that defense and make them a playoff team.

 

11^th Overall Pick – Tennessee Titans

Anthony Barr – Outside Linebacker – UCLA

Anthony Barr is now in 2^nd place in the Barr vs Mack race, but it doesn’t mean he’s not a good player. His stock has fallen a bit in the last couple of months, but he’s still a very athletic player who’s learning the position. His potential is endless and he could be a stud in the Titans’ new 3-4 system. Shaun Phillips isn’t going to be around for much longer and I don’t think Wimbley is a 3 down starter. Barr is the guy they need.

 

12^th Overall Pick – New York Giants

Eric Ebron – Tight End – North Carolina

I’m not a big fan of drafting tight ends early, but Eric Ebron is a rare tight end. Ebron completely tore up the combine, and had a very productive season with UNC. He could be the perfect playmaker for Eli Manning.

 

13^th Overall Pick – St Louis Rams

Taylor Lewan – Offensive Tackle – Michigan

I see Lewan as the number 2 offensive tackle, and his only weaknesses are minor ones that could be corrected. He has the ability to be a top 5 left tackle in the league, and if drafted by the Rams, could start out playing the right side, and has the run blocking skills and strength to be a good right tackle (to start out his career, before making the switch).

 

14^th Overall Pick – Chicago Bears

Ha’sean Clinton Dix – Safety – Alabama

The Bears haven’t had a good safety in several years. Major Wright was one of the worst starting safeties in the league last season. Clinton Dix was a playmaker with Alabama, and could be the perfect piece for this defense.

 

15^th Overall Pick – Pittsburgh Steelers

CJ Mosley – Inside Linebacker – Alabama

The Steelers regressed on defense last season and that’s because they didn’t have a presence up the middle. Timmons was decent last season, but they need someone with a bigger impact. Mosley is an instinctive, athletic linebacker who can make plays and the read the field. He’s someone to watch for in the defensive rookie of the year race.

 

16^th Overall Pick – Dallas Cowboys

Kony Ealy – Defensive End – Missouri

The Cowboys are still trying to get comfortable in their 4-3 system, and they need more playmakers on that defense. They can add a big piece to their defense by drafting Ealy, a difference maker who can come in and play right away.

 

17^th Overall Pick – Baltimore Ravens

Jake Matthews – Offensive Tackle – Texas A&M

The Ravens don’t have many tackles on the roster, much less good ones. They have Monroe at left tackle, but they don’t have anyone slated at right tackle and the current guys on the roster aren’t capable of manning that spot. Matthews is one of the most consistent players in the country and can have a huge impact on any team.

 

18^th Overall Pick – New York Jets

Darqueze Dennard – Cornerback – Michigan State

The Jets lost Cromartie and Revis the year before, and although they did draft Milliner last season, they need someone else in that secondary, because it’s a mess. Dennard is one of the best players available and was a stud on the best defense in the country. He read plays perfect and has the great athleticism you look for in a cornerback.

 

19^th Overall Pick – Miami Dolphins

Zack Martin – Offensive Tackle – Notre Dame

The Dolphins spent big money on Brandon Albert, and he’ll be the left tackle, but the Dolphins desperately need a right tackle, and Martin is a talented tackle. He’s one of the best in this draft. Drafting Martin would shore up the majority of their offensive line.

 

20^th Overall Pick – Arizona Cardinals

Ryan Shazier – Outside Linebacker – Ohio State

The Cardinals spent a lot of money on offense this offseason, and now it’s time for them to improve their front 7. Their defensive line is very good, but they lack edge defenders. Shazier is ridiculously athletic and had a huge impact for the Buckeyes. He would become the Cardinals starting OLB and have a big impact over time.

 

21^st Overall Pick – Green Bay Packers

Calvin Pryor – Safety – Louisville

The Packers get a bit of a gift here in Pryor. The Packers lack a presence at safety and only have 2 safeties on the roster. Pryor is a good all around safety and could give the Packers a dangerous advantage on defense.

 

22^nd Overall Pick – Philadelphia Eagles

Louis Nix III – Defensive Tackle – Notre Dame

It’s hard to have a successful 3-4 defense without a strong nose tackle. The Eagles have built a decent defense, but they need that big body up the middle, and that’s exactly what Nix is, he’s a big guy who can plug up the middle and cause problems.

 

23^rd Overall Pick – Kansas City Chiefs

Brandin Cooks – Wide Receiver – Oregon State

Brandin Cooks is my favorite prospect in the draft, and have been saying that since early October, where he was dubbed a 5^th round pick. Cooks is a slightly undersized receiver who plays much bigger and has all the intangibles you expect from an all pro. He could be a star at the next level and he’d be the perfect compliment to Dwayne Bowe.

 

24^th Overall Pick – Cincinnati Bengals

Bradley Roby – Cornerback – Ohio State

Roby is a very instinctive cornerback, who surprised me at the combine, putting together one of the best performances amongst the defensive backs. Roby can come in and have an impact right away and could be the perfect player to compliment Leon Hall.

 

25^th Overall Pick – San Diego Chargers

Jason Verrett – Cornerback – TCU

Verrett is one of my favorite defensive backs, as he’s extremely athletic and has great instincts. The Chargers could use a playmaker next to Eric Weddle in their secondary.  The Chargers need some secondary help and he could help right away.

 

26^th Overall Pick – Cleveland Browns (from Indianapolis Colts)

Odell Beckham Jr – Wide Receiver – LSU

Beckham is a talented receiver who made a lot of noise at LSU. He’s good all around player (must work on his route running) who could have an impact from Day 1. If the Browns draft a quarterback, expect them to give that QB some (other than Josh Gordon) weapons to work with.

 

27^th Overall Pick – New Orleans Saints

Kyle Van Noy – Outside Linebacker – BYU

The Saints got rid of Will Smith and essentially have no consistent players on the roster to man one of the edge defenders spots. Van Noy is an underrated prospect that has been consistently good for the last few seasons. He could start for them right away.

 

28^th Overall Pick – Carolina Panthers

Lamarcus Joyner – Cornerback / Safety – Florida State

The Panthers lost some key players in their secondary this offseason, and have done very little to replace those lost players. Joyner is a versatile player who can play both safety and cornerback, but could provide a lot of help at cornerback.

 

29^th Overall Pick – New England Patriots

Timmy Jernigan – Defensive Tackle – Florida State

The Patriots lost Wilfork last season to injury and had a lot of trouble trying to fill his hole. He’s back this year, but has probably one good year left in him. Jernigan is a big defensive tackle who was the anchor of the Seminoles’ front 7 and made a ton of big plays in the latter portion of the season. He could start right next to Wilfork from Day 1.

 

30^th Overall Pick – San Francisco 49ers

Stephon Tuitt – Defensive End – Notre Dame

Justin Smith is creeping closer to retirement, and they don’t really have anyone to replace him, or to rotate in right now. In short, they lack depth on their defensive line. Tuitt is a very big, relatively athletic force who did a very nice job while at Notre Dame. He could end up being a star with the proper coaching and training.

 

31^st Overall Pick – Denver Broncos

Chris Borland – Inside Linebacker – Wisconsin

Borland is a smart linebacker with above average intangibles. The Broncos desperately need an inside linebacker after losing Wesley Woodyard. Borland could come in, make their front 7 respectable. Borland could start from Day 1 and have a big impact next season.

 

32^nd Overall Pick – Seattle Seahawks

Dee Ford – Defensive End – Auburn

The Seahawks lost Chris Clemons and Red Bryant this offseason and have a bit of a hole at defensive end. They do have Avril and Bennett, who are both starters, but they have no depth and they have no long-term answer. Ford had some monsters games this year as well as a big Senior Bowl, and could surprise many next season.

 

 

Round 2

 

33^rd Overall Pick – Houston Texans

David Yankey – Offensive Guard – Stanford

Yankey is a versatile offensive lineman who would provide great help to the Texans interior o-line, who have a hole at guard with Wade Smith departing.

 

34^th Overall Pick – Washington Redskins

Ra’shede Hageman – Defensive End – Minnesota

The Redskins need some help up front, and although adding Jason Hatcher was good, they need a guy to compliment him on the other side, and Hagemen is fully capable of playing in a 3-4 and is perhaps the best player available on the board.

 

35^th Overall Pick – Cleveland Browns

Jimmie Ward – Safety – Northern Illinois

The Browns need someone to play next to Donte Whitner, and after spending two picks on offense; it’s time to give the defense some love. Ward is one of the best available here.

 

36^th Overall Pick – Oakland Raiders

Marqise Lee – Wide Receiver – USC

Lee drops a bit here and is a perfect fit for the Raiders who could use another receiver to play with James Jones. He’s one of the most dynamic receivers in this class.

 

37^th Overall Pick – Houston Texans (from Atlanta Falcons)

Jace Amaro – Tight End – Texas Tech

This pick makes sense. Amaro is one of the top players on the board and he would give new QB Manziel a big target to throw to (with Graham) at tight end.

 

38^th Overall Pick – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Xavier Su’a Filo – Offensive Guard – UCLA

The Bucs got rid of Davin Joseph and they need a new guard to come in and protect McCown. Su’a Filo is arguably the top guard in the draft.

 

39^th Overall Pick – Jacksonville Jaguars

Cyrus Kouandjio – Offensive Tackle – Alabama

The Jaguars could use another tackle to compliment Luke Joeckel because they don’t have a good one on the roster. Kouandjio has great size and potential in the NFL.

 

40^th Overall Pick – Minnesota Vikings

Derek Carr – Quarterback – Fresno State

A team will definitely trade up to take Carr in the middle of the first round, but I don’t want to start predicting trades this late, so because of that, Carr, falls to 40 in a minimal trade 1^st round.

 

41^st Overall Pick – Buffalo Bills

Tre Mason – Running Back – Auburn

The Bills always like to have depth at running back and with Fred Jackson very close to retirement; it leaves them with almost no one behind CJ Spiller. They’ll need a guy to replace Fred Jackson and Mason is the best running back in the draft.

 

42^nd Overall Pick – Tennessee Titans

Kyle Fuller – Cornerback – Virginia Tech

The Rams could use some help at cornerback as Finnegan is gone, and Janoris Jenkins doesn’t seem like a good fit as a #1 cornerback.

 

43^rd Overall Pick – New York Giants

Scott Crichton – Defensive End – Oregon State

The Giants could use another pass rusher to play across from JPP and Crichton is an underrated defensive end who can start from Day 1.

 

44^th Overall Pick – St Louis Rams

Pierre Desir  – Cornerback – Lindenwood

I know the Dolphins just signed Finnegan, but he’s not a very good option, and the Dolphins did lose Nolan Caroll in the offseason. Getting Desir gives them a long-term option at cornerback.

 

45^th Overall Pick – Detroit Lions

Davante Adams – Wide Receiver – Fresno State

The Lions added Golden Tate, and they obviously have Megatron, but they could still use another receiver to give Matthew Stafford some options. They need to give him more options other than Megatron.

 

46^th Overall Pick – Pittsburgh Steelers

Joel Bitonio – Offensive Tackle – Nevada

Bitonio was a great player at Nevada, and is a very clean prospect. He has very good athleticism and is smart. He could be the perfect player for the Steelers, who need an offensive tackle badly.

 

47^th Overall Pick – Baltimore Ravens

Daquan Jones – Defensive Tackle/Defensive End – Penn State

Jones is a big-bodied defensive lineman who was very good at Penn State. The Ravens lost Arthur Jones this offseason and have not done anything to replace him.

 

48^th Overall Pick – Dallas Cowboys

Kelvin Benjamin – Wide Receiver – Florida State

Robinson has some technicalities that he needs to fix up (catching with his body and explosiveness to name a couple), but he has great potential and is a playmaker.

 

49^th Overall Pick – New York Jets

Austin Seferian Jenkins – Tight End – Washington

The Jets only have Cumberland, and he hasn’t done much in the last 2 years. They have no depth. Seferian Jenkins would add a big target to an offense that has done their best to try and rebuild.

 

50^th Overall Pick – Miami Dolphins

Bashaud Breeland – Cornerback – Clemson

The Saints are doing a lot to fix their defense. They added some players to their front 7 and they added Byrd to their safety duo. Now, they should add Breeland to their cornerback group and he could have an impact in his rookie year.

 

51^st Overall Pick – Chicago Bears

Dominique Easley – Defensive Tackle – Florida

The Bears lost Henry Melton this offseason and lack a big presence up the middle. Easley would help fill that need and play extremely well next to Allen.

 

52^nd Overall Pick – Arizona Cardinals

Bishop Sankey – Running Back -- Washington State

The Cardinals only have Ellington and don’t have a good change of pace back. Sankey is a great, quick running back who could end up seeing the majority of the loads by the end of the season.

 

53^rd Overall Pick – Green Bay Packers

Donte Moncrief – Wide Receiver – Ole Miss

The Packers lost James Jones this offseason and now they are starting to get short on receivers. The Packers love to draft receivers, and Moncrief is one of the best players on the board and can contribute from Day 1. 

 

54^th Overall Pick – Philadelphia Eagles

Allen Robinson – Wide Receiver – Penn State

The Eagles could use a receiver to replace Desean Jackson. He won’t need to be relied on from day 1, and could be developed into an animal.

 

55^th Overall Pick – Cincinnati Bengals

Jimmy Garoppolo – Quarterback – Eastern Illinois

How many years does Andy Dalton have left? He only has one on his contract, and who knows if he’ll be back. Garoppolo is an underrated QB who with the right development can be a starter in this league.

 

56^th Overall Pick – San Francisco 49ers (from Kansas City Chiefs)

Demarcus Lawrence – Outside Linebacker – Boise State

Lawrence is a talented pass rusher who could surprise many in his first year. With Aldon Smith’s future being hazy, getting a guy like Lawrence early on can be a big positive going forward.

 

57^th Overall Pick – San Diego Chargers

Marcus Martin – Center/Offensive Guard – USC

The Chargers need to do whatever they can to improve their offensive line. It got much better last season, but they need a little more help inside. The Falcons did a pick like this a couple of years with Peter Konz and he worked out pretty well. The Chargers should do the same.

 

58^th Overall Pick – New Orleans Saints

Keith McGill – Cornerback – Utah State

McGill has a rare combination of size, athleticism, explosion and arm length that teams look for. He should help out the Saints at a postion they need help at. McGill could be their longterm starter.

 

59^th Overall Pick – Indianapolis Colts

Deone Buccanon – Safety – Washington State

The Colts need a safety very badly. Even Coach Pagano said that they’ll look to the draft for a safety. Buccanon has very good size and arm length. He was also one of the top performers at the combine and is great in coverage.

 

60^th Overall Pick – Carolina Panthers

Antonio Richardson – Offensive Tackle – Tennessee

The Panthers need a right tackle very badly and Richardson has the ability to be a starting right tackle from training camp. He’s one of the best players on the board and would make perfect sense for the Panthers.

 

61^st Overall Pick – San Francisco 49ers

Stanley Jean Baptiste – Cornerback – Nebraska

The only weak spot on the 49ers defense is their cornerback group. That group has regressed over the last couple of seasons and they need to add some young talent to that pool. Baptiste has great size and strength to be good in press coverage.

 

62^nd Overall Pick – New England Patriots

Troy Niklas – Tight End – Notre Dame

The Patriots have no good tight ends behind Gronkowski, and if he goes down, they’re in trouble. Niklaus is a big, pass catching tight end who has great potential in the NFL and can be a very good option for Brady.

 

63^rd Overall Pick – Denver Broncos

Jerry Attaochu – Outside Linebacker / Defensive End – Georgia Tech

Attaochu is not a perfect fit with the Broncos, but as we’ve come to learn with the Broncos, they don’t mind too often. Attaochu is a great pass rusher, and can be a good player to compliment Demarcus Ware.

 

64^th Overall Pick – Seattle Seahawks

Gabe Jackson – Offensive Guard – Mississippi State

The Seahawks lost Paul McQuistan in the offseason and their interior offensive linemen aren’t great. Jackson would be a good option for them, and he could start in his rookie year.
