That's because you guys realized all too well that the Irsay's would move. You guys made them all very rich .

They were already very rich. It also made retailers and hotels in the downtown area a lot of money as well. Pretty simple economics really

Not on the busts, but under the franchise. These Hall of Famers like Unitas , Mackey , and Lenny Moore wanted a seperate Baltimore Colts section. It makes no sense they are thrown in with Eric Dickerson.

Everywhere I have seen the franchise is referred to as Colts. With Baltimore (1953-1983) Indianapolis (1984-present). And for anyone who played for Baltimore it specifically says Baltimore Colts.

Are there plaques that have HoFers by franchise and the Colts plaque only says Indianapolis Colts? Because almost everywhere puts Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts.

You guys have a nice city, I go there all the time. I'm not blasting you for building a stadium , it was just a bad economic time with bad politicians in Baltimore in the late 70's and early 80's. The economy is better today , but the politicians still stink.

its my general feeling that the biggest majority of politicians stink

When I was there last, they had all the franchises listed with the Hall of Famers under them. This, under Indy Colts banner, they had a list of the Baltimore Colts under it. I know most on Indy thinks it's fine because of the franchise argument, but most of those old Colts would prefer a seperate section. They don't hate Indy, they just never played there.

And now there's a reason to go downtown. Companies all over the country come to our city because of the attached convention center that was part of the project. Then of course there is the money and prestige that came with hosting the Super Bowl.

Yeah, Irsay got richer. But so did the city of Indianapolis.

You have much better ones in Indiana than we do on Maryland. For the life of me, I never understood why Hudnut moved and retired in Maryland. He must like high taxes ! Maryland is pretty nice except for the taxes and politicians.

It is true. I just wish they had gotten a new team name back in 1984, but that is all water under the bridge now. Like I said, I like Indy, and you can't deny the impact of an NFL team.

too bad they were just players and not owners. Then it might matter what they think.

They were paid to do a job. That's all

When I think of the 81 curse I think of losing 14 consecutive football games in one season. for some reason it rears it's ugly head every decade

year  w-l    year before w-l

1981 2-14 1980     7 -9                    -5

1991 1-15  1990    7 -9                    -6

2001 6-10 2000    10 -6                   -4

2011 2-14 2010    10 -6                   -8

you know what? I am not looking forward to 2021!

I guess that is the way life is . You have these old Baltimore Colts like Unitas, Mackey , and the others , that earned everything they ever had, and were totally honorable guys. Contrast that with a current owner and how he let down an entire city for a second time. Maybe it's the right time for the HOF to do the right thing. They don't answer to the owners , so they could set up a seperate Baltimore Colts section.

i don't see why that is necessary. The team belongs to irsay. Not the city. The colts are the colts.

This is for the Hall of Fame. Maybe the franchise belongs to Irsay, but he doesn't own these players or careers, and they have the right to be represented in the Hall in the manner they want to be displayed. For most of these guys careers, they played for Rosenbloom, not Irsay. They played in a different city, which is not a knock on Indy , or it's current team. It's about presenting the facts about one's career in the HOF correctly.

    • Sounds good. I'm a computer/tech ill* (my own word, supposed to sound like illiterate), I'll try not to screw it up when draft time comes.   Only disagrement I have with your Colts needs is I think we need a clear alpha WR or TE to take the next step, so I'd put that in the Primary slot. Otherwise, I see it the way you do for the most part.
    • His teams with real quarterbacks is 21-11. At least be realistic with your bashing. Otherwise, you just look like you are picking a fight you won’t win. Team had more all-pros on the roster last year than everyone but the Packers who had the same amount. Don’t be a tool
    • Yes, it's been a long time since they were the Cardinals AAA affiliate.  In 1982, A. Ray Smith moved the Springfield Redbirds to Louisville as the Cardinals AAA affiliate in the American Association.  This is when I became a St. Louis Cardinals fan, because I could go see future Cardinals as they were working their way up to the majors.   The Louisville Redbirds played in Cardinal Stadium, which was the former home of the Louisville Colonels (Red Sox affiliate) and also the home of the University of Louisville football Cardinals.  The Redbirds enjoyed great success in Louisville and in their first season broke many minor league attendance records.  In 1983, they because the first minor league franchise to draw over 1 million fans during a season.   In 1998, the Cardinals switched their AAA affiliate to Memphis and Louisville became the AAA team for the Milwaukee Brewers.  They were still the Redbirds in 1998 and then changed their name to the River Bats in 1999.   In 2000, the team moved to their new downtown ballpark, Louisville Slugger Field.  That year, they also became the AAA Affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds and continue that affiliation now.     Have you been to a Cardinals game before?  Busch Stadium is really nice and the view of the Arch beyond center field is a great backdrop.  Hope you can make a game there...I am hoping to do the same later this summer.     I had a great time!  Sorry, I can't give a final score, but when I left at the end of the 6th inning, the Indians led 3-0.  It was getting late and I had to work today.   Interesting that the Reds were wearing the Cincinnati spring training jerseys, but the Indians were wearing the Columbus Clippers uniforms, so it was kinda strange.   The players are most likely going to be AAA and AA players this year, but there may be a couple that get called up due to an injury to a major league player.   It was still baseball and the first time I've been to a game since mid-summer of 2019, so it was a very pleasurable evening.  Tickets were cheap and seating was general admission, so you could sit anywhere in the designated areas.  They limited ticket sales so everyone could be spread out.   Here's a view from my seat behind home plate.
    • Here's a link for team needs (I don't agree with all of it, but it's pretty good overall) https://thedraftnetwork.com/team-needs   It's tiered into primary, secondary, ancillary, and "don't need". Colts example below from TDN.   Colts Primary - OT, CB, WR Secondary - IDL, EDGE, LB, TE Ancillary - QB, S Don't need - IOL, RB   It's up to you if you want to follow it, and how you want to weigh need vs PBA.   IMO, the Colts needs are more like the below, which I would personally follow. And even with that, depending on BPA, I might not follow the tiers.    Colts Primary - Edge, LT Secondary - CB, WR, LB, TE, S Ancillary - IDL, IOL Don't need - , RB, QB   You'll have a set time for your pick, so only need to be on for 15 minutes at most.
