Who We Need Most In This Draft

Recommended Posts

So who are your guys we need most on this team?

Mine are as follows...

CB Morris Claiborne (He reminds me a lot of Darrelle Revis with how good his coverage skills are. With us likely going away from Tampa 2, we will need good man coverage corners, and pairing him with Powers will drastically improve our secondary)

QB Andrew Luck (Only if Peyton is not healthy for next year of course)

OG David DeCastro (I still think we are one piece away from making this OL complete. A true dominant OG is needed)

NT Brandon Thompson or NT Dontari Poe (We still need a good NT to make our DL dominant. Having a true NT will free up Nevis, and our DEs)

S Mark Barron or Ray Ray Armstrong (We still need that SS to pair with Bethea)

Claiborune and I would double down with the Harris boy from Oregon. who is also a top punt returner...

A pick of Luck would be a waste because there's no chance Manning will be traded or will go free agent..or will not attempt to play in 2012....but a 2nd round pick of Kellen Moore would be shrewd..

I'd led the O-line go if we could get Thompson...a consistent run stopper.

DT and DB are our primary needs

I agree with it all

CB Morris Claiborne (He reminds me a lot of Darrelle Revis with how good his coverage skills are. With us likely going away from Tampa 2, we will need good man coverage corners, and pairing him with Powers will drastically improve our secondary) Agreed

QB Andrew Luck (Only if Peyton is not healthy for next year of course) <--added emphasis lol

OG David DeCastro (I still think we are one piece away from making this OL complete. A true dominant OG is needed) I agree about drafting a dominant OG but DeCastro is likely a first round pick and there are other dominant OGs that will go a little later. Either Keleche Osemele or Lucas Nix in the 2nd round or Kevin Zeilter in the 3rd round would be my pick for OG

NT Brandon Thompson or NT Dontari Poe (We still need a good NT to make our DL dominant. Having a true NT will free up Nevis, and our DEs). I agree and would love to have Thompson or Poe. Many also believe Jerel Worthy could play NT in our defense and if the powers that be agree then he or Josh Chapman are a couple others to consider

S Mark Barron or Ray Ray Armstrong (We still need that SS to pair with Bethea) TJ McDonald, Harrison Smith or Robert Lester are a few others that could be considered as well

My comments in blue. I also think we need to add to the LB core. I'm assuming Bracket most likely won't be back and I don't really have an opinion yet on whether I think Sims will be back. I'm not sold on the current starters but aside from that we have little depth. Personally I'd like to bring in an early round monster MLB in either Luke Kuechly or Manti Te'o and then, if we make enough deals and have multiple additional picks then I'd like to spend another pick in the 4th round on Nigel Bradham OLB.

    • Thanks for clarifying that you're not mad.   NFL contracts are mere guidelines. They're effectively "here's some money this year, and then we'll see". These contracts are NOT fully guaranteed. Also, when you read or hear that a player got $100Million contract, ask for how much is guaranteed because those big amounts quoted are nowhere close to what gets paid out for most players.   You can have your opinion, but what i'm trying to tell you is how the business works. If your opinion conflicts with the facts on the ground then you're going to run into problems. Opinions are like freedom of speech...they come with consequence. That's the silent part that many don't tell you. Saying a player shouldn't ask for a raise is all well and good except that player, in that so-called bad year, made it to the pro-bowl for the first time in his career. So again, the year you call a bad one wasn't viewed that way by the pro bowl. Okay, you're going to argue next that the pro bowl isnt worth spit....okay sure, that's a fine opinion to have except for the fact (facts keep interfering...) that in contract negotiations, those individual accolades (pro bowl, walter payton man of the year, all pro, etc) will absolutely carry weight. So again...it's fine to have opinions but facts matter. Do i think Moore played well last year? Meh, he had a so-so year especially early on but you'd best believe he's not arbitrarily asking for money, he has a legit case that's almost water tight. The ball is in Ballard's court. It's either we pay him or someone else likely will. This is business.
    • Heh, I don't know how to defend my "tone". I just posted every single post of mine here and there is one overlapping theme in pretty much every single one of them - level of play and whether it deserves a new contract or not.    No idea how much he gets this year if he were a FA. Based on how much other slots are getting... probably not as much as you assume. I didn't find a list of salaries, but I searched lists of best slot CBs and checked their salaries one by one. Kenny's was the highest. Now this might be missing someone, but I thought it was likely that I checked most of the better/highest paid slots. The salaries slot CBs get are very low compared to outside CBs. It was kind of shocking to see. Makes you wonder even more, how much exactly does Kenny want?
    • Thank you for your service!
    • First off, you mentioned a bunch of people that I wasn’t addressing, nor am I mad.  Secondly, I was genuinely asking what contracts are for, if not to honor them.  What is the point?  Thirdly, I can have my own opinion about if a player has a bad year and asks for more money, it seems like entitlement to me? Others have said other CBs around the league are making more money?  That sounds like entitlement to me.  Now if he played as well or better than previous years, it would make sense to me to ask for more money.  That’s just my opinion. Others may disagree.
    • This you??       There's a tone to these comments, and it's not all 'his play doesn't warrant a new contract,' either.   But when I mentioned the tone of the posts in this thread, it wasn't exclusively about your posts.     And how much would he get paid if he were a FA this offseason? Realistically speaking, probably twice as much as he's scheduled to make over the next two seasons, and at least the first two years would be guaranteed, or close to it. And that's even with his less than great 2021 season.   And that's all this is about. He thinks he has a market that's well above what he's being paid now. If you're right that he wants much more, then like I said earlier, I'd have to tell him no, and prepare for him to sit out for however long he thinks he needs to. Again, that's the business.    To the bolded, got a link or a list? I'm curious, because Spotrac doesn't differentiate slot corners.     Which is what Deshaun Watson did all of 2021... I don't see KM doing that, but it's worth mentioning.
