Pats and Colts

Just sitting here thinking how scary similar they are on O:

QB = Both have franchise QB's (although Brady is older and a lock for HOF to early tell with lLuck)

Both Lost their Best Offensive Weapon (Gronk and Wayne)

Both Have standout ROOKIE WR (Pats 2 are the best WR rookies with NE with Brady, and I know the colts two have done well as well just cant remember their names sorry)

Both O lines are decent, if not very good in pass proetection

Both do not turn the bal over a lot

So scary similar...

They're similar this year in that both teams have had to deal with their fair share of set-backs and injuries. And both have been bipolar, too, with respect to beating some of the best teams in the league and then losing some bad ones. Should be a fun game.

Defensive minded head coaches, and lots of familiarity between offensive coordinator and QB are two more similarities.  I saw an article that said this weekend has a lot of old vs. new counterpart matchups.  Luck is potentially the next Brady because he's never out of a game and is insanely clutch, understands the game well, etc.  Then you have Wilson as the next Brees due to good accuracy and similar sizes

Yet everyone here in New England seems to think the Patriots are going to stomp on the Colts. I can't wait to be at the game cheering on Indy. Patriot fans are so arogant it's not even funny.

It's not like it's completely unfounded arrogance. They have been the winningest team of the last decade. It is up to the other teams in the AFC to knock them off the king from the mountain. We have a great shot to do that this weekend.

they are really not arogant, they are a typical fan. you have fans like that in every city. im sure there are some colts fans who are like that. a lot of patriot fans here in texas feel it will be a close game and have said they would not be surprised if the colts did win as they are afraid the pats would lose if Luck had the ball in the final 2 minutes in a close game.

Pats fans forth most part have been pretty great additions to this board. They have every right to feel confident as their team has won a lot in the last 12 years. Regardless of the spy scandal, fans didn't do that.

I am glad there has been some Pats regulars on here.

Where the heck is JJ?

Dobson and Thompkins are standouts and the best rookies? Lol They're both bad.

LOL Again, they have outperformed any OTHER PAST patriots rookie WR with Brady is what I meant, Branch didnt explode out till his 2nd year with Brady... SO I as an optimist think next year with them back and just maybe if the stars align right a HEALTHY Gronk and these RB the Pats O be hard stop NEXT year.

You are correct, I was mentioning how the YOUNG guys have been so key for both teams this year (Ty for you guys just last week in the playoffs, Thompkins last second catch against the Saint, etc..)

I can agree with that!  Both teams are so banged up (I know the Pats lost a LOT of key personel early on especially on D and both Denard and Talib been playing banged up, which is what I heard the announcer say about the Colts starting CB as well last week)

And I love my team but I cant see ANY team in the AFC beating either Seatle OR SF in the SB.  doesnt mean I wouldnt cheer like hell for my team if they were in it but I am not expecting an AFC team topple either of those two teams (lol remember when their division was the JOKE of the NFL!)

"Everyone here in New England" huh...  Thats interesting, because all of my friends and family that follow football don't think that at all, so we don't fit into your "everyone" demographic.  You keep telling yourself that though, but just because you ran into a couple arrogant fans doesn't immediately categorize the rest of us into their mental state.  It could also just be in your mind... often times hatred can warp someones reality and apply context to something that isn't really there.

If this game was being played in Indy I would be extremely nervous.  I do like the Patriots chances at home, but that is not arrogance that is having confidence and faith in my team at home where they haven't lost yet this year.

The Colts are a good team, they aren't some underdog that has slipped under the radar and all odds are against them, they've beat the Seahawks, 49ers and Broncos... all 3 of those teams are currently in the divisional round.

Luck is a scary quarterback because he has the athletic ability but he also has a high level of intelligence to know how and when to use it.  He is always looking to throw the ball, even when he scrambles out he always has his eyes down the field and is looking to make a play with his arm.. but at any moment he can tuck it away and churn out 15-20 yards in the blink of an eye.

I can see a AFC team able to beat the niners or hawks in the superbowl. Colts have beaten both of them already and i think they can do it again. and out of those two the niners would be the tougher one to beat. at least with Seattle the super bowl is held in NJ and wont have to deal with the " 12th man "

Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins certainly both have tremendous upside and remarkable athleticism.  Certainly more talented as rookies then were Deion Branch and David Givens and even being injured half the season, have surpassed their production.  I know there are other talented rookie receivers that have been doing well, but KT and AD's ceiling in my personal opinion falls in the elite category and they both have that "it" factor that other rookie receivers across the league don't have.

    • Fries has proven to be a diamond find.  Figure our salary cap will determine how our OL future pans out. Starting WRs are some of the best in the league.  Can AR connect with them like Menshew done?    TE room wouldn’t mind adding Fannin but team needs devalue him as BPA.  Conyers is great in run blocking and can catch hoping falls to R4-6 range.    DL help is a major area of need agreed.  Think I had a Day 3 initial grade on NT Rene Konga but each week he has impressed.  Between Konga and Michigan’s Benny probably our two best choices for Stewart’s role.  See my recent Week 4 top 10-15 players posted especially for LB and DB options.
    • I would personally like to see more bootlegs, and more throws on the run. AR is SO good at that.   Especially since they love playing out of shotgun so much.
    • Army is playing mistake free football, very impressive so far. One of a handful of unbeaten Group of 5 schools.
