In Practice he would wear the (red Ithink) jersey for no contact so IF he got hurt means something didnt heal right or an injury was going happen anyways. MORE IMPORTANTLY it answers all the important questions for the colts before the draft:

1. Is his arm strength back

2. If he still has IT. 9which I doubt he lost lol)

Basically practice lets you know everything you need to know with limited chance of injury. Also worse case scenerio the Colts draft Luck and find out Manning can go. They now can trade Luck OR Manning for a butt load of Draft picks and possibly a stud D player needed at the time.

But his problem is not getting hit...

Except this is in my mind WORSE than those injuries, this is his NECK, so IMO you take all precautions necessary for his current and future health. Practice time will tell you everything you need to know without risking an injury that could be with him forever.

Playing a game shows them nothing more than what they get in practice PERIOD. Taking a hit really? he just had neck surgery for crying out loud 2 in less than a yr.

Of course he could. He could get hurt driving to the building. He could get hurt eating dinner. Or any other number of things that might happen.

But we aren't talking about that. We're talking about game time situations where the threat of injury is real. He's not taking hits in practice. He will be in the game.

There is no sense in risking it to go 1-15.

Peyton's not playing this year. Even if he did, he couldn't do squat about our plight right now. He can barely move his head and would be rustier than the Tinman on the Wizard of Oz. And if he gets hurt further in a meaningless game...then what? We are better off just riding this out with Painter or another of our back-up scrubs for the rest of the year.

0-16, 1-15, 2-14 What's the difference? This team is not making the playoffs, which means it's a failed season.

This defense has regressed immensely since last year and putting Manning at QB right now will not solve anything.

Colts have a long history of not playing starters in meaningless games. If they decide to reverse that to avoid 0-16 when they wouldn't reverse it for 16-0 I'd be EXTREMELY ticked.
