Da'Rick Rogers - All Bark No Bite?

Rob Lowe

Recommended Posts

Could it be that we were too which to jump on the Da'Rick train? He came out barking old, but we haven't seen him bite yet. Hardly even a bark. Might he not be the next Calvin Johnson/Jerry Rice? Could we be stuck with just another Roddy White/Crabtree/A.J. Green clone?

AJ Green is a stud WR, Roddy WHite and Crabtree are good WR in their own right.  If Rogers is in that company he would still be a steal as an UDFA.

In his first career game he caught 6 passes for 107 yards and 2 tds...Getting tired of people jumping the gun. Let the guy play a full season before you start questioning his ability. Besides White, Crabtree, and Green are all darn good receivers, so I wouldn't consider that a bad thing.

Our fanbase has some crazy expectations. If we expect an UDFA who has played two career games to carry our WR corps, could you imagine the pressure we would place on a first round pick?

Lets give it time folks. He didn't even go through training camp with the Colts and spent the majority of his time here running the competitions plays.

he's played 2 career games....Sure we were kinda quick to jump on the train, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the potential to be the next great one.

Give him a year if he stays with the colts which I think he will he gets a whole offseason with Luck then he could come out next year and be a really good player.

He could also be DHB in disguise. He dropped a whopper last Sunday. On the other hand........yep, give him some time for goodness sake.

Yep, he should get some time.  The drops are one thing, but if he has to learn how to sharpen his route running very soon.  IMO, he caused the INT.  No place or excuse for laziness.

I'd be happy if he turned into AJ Green or Crabtree or even Roddy White.  UDFA who we will have on the cheap for a while.  He's an exclusive rights free agent after 2014, all we have to do is offer him league minimum for a year and he has to accept.  Then he's an RFA, so we put a first round tender on him.  Although if some team is willing to make an offer we need to be prepared to match.

Can we please get this right? Cincy was not his first career game. It was the first game he had a catch. He was active in the Tennessee game, and drew a long P.I..

True, but Cincy was his first game getting significant snaps.

I am PRAYING he is a Roddy White/Crabtree/A.J. Green clone.... lol

They said it before the Texans game they want to get Hilton more involved... so the focus was transferred to getting him the ball last game. If Reggie is healthy for the start of the season next year, I wouldnt mind seeing Rogers on the left, Hilton on the right and Wayne in the slot  :goodluck:

No ... I think he's better than guys like Green or R White. He's just working the rust off.

1. I think we'd all be pretty happy if he eventually landed in your second tier.

2. It's not often that a WR is worth his salt in year one, or even two. Crabtree & Reggie being prime examples.

3. Um, some of us have tempered our enthusiasm for instant success on Da'Rick, even if only to contrast those overly enthused with immediate success (you being a part of that group). We're labelled 'haters', and it appears you may be swaying towards caution. We were never 'haters', just cautious.

Why is Crabtree mentioned with AJ Green and Roddy White? They're much better than Crabtree and are very much elite WRs.  Don't look at White this year, he was banged up, but he's done great the past 5-6 years.  If Rogers ends up like Roddy White I'd be very happy with that.

Can we not send this kid to the morgue, so quickly, like a lot of you guys did with T Rich?  Let's give them an off season, gees.

    • https://www.nfl.com/news/bill-tobin-longtime-nfl-executive-dies-at-age-83   He drafted some all time great players like Harrison, and of course is famous for his verbal match with Mel Kiper. RIP!
    • Then begs the question. Do u want to say draft a MJH at 4 and turn around in 4 years or would u say draft Turner and pay him 30mill in 4 years? All day every day for the franchise rush end. I am not a big believer in 30 mill for a wr. Reid is a fantastic coach and look what he did with Hill.
    • I literally just posted that clip, it's where the conversation about QBs started.
    • Funny you brought this up.  I just listened to an interview Ballard did today with Rich Eisen.  He asked him if he has given any thought on how many quarterbacks will be taken before our pick and how many does he think.  He said sure we go through those evaluations.  It helps us with for planning purposes.  He asked him how many.  4 or 5 or 6?   He laughed out loud at 6.  He said Rich if it’s 6 we will be so excited.  Let’s hope so.  He also said the draft board is not yet set.  Won’t be until the night before the draft.  He also said he has had multiple conversations with other GM’s concerning the draft.  Preparing themselves for opportunities that could take place.  And they will continue up until the draft starts.  He said trade conversations won’t really materialize until you are within three picks of any trade.  Giving you time to finalize it.  Interesting interview.  Oh he pretty much ruled out moving up for Harrison.   Going up into the top of the draft would be very costly for him he said.  Thinks he’s a great talent but he thinks he’s pretty much out of our reach.
    • I personally wouldn’t touch Williams with a 10 foot pole. He seems like a distraction and cancerous. He may be Uber talented but I don’t feel like he is a winner, and don’t feel like his heart is in it. I think he gets the bag and just sets it on cruise control. There is absolutely nothing to base this off of aside from my gut feeling.  Maye Daniels  Penix Nix McCarthy   Maye is your prototype passer and I think his deficiencies are easily fixed with good coaching.   Daniels seems the most limited to me, proficient and will be very dependent on where he goes.    Will always have a soft spot for Penix, he throws such a pretty deep ball. His 40 time should have opened some eyes.   Nix is probably the safest pick IMO. I think he’s got the tools to fit nearly any offense. Has the athleticism, arm talent and I think he’s got the between the ears to excel in most offenses.   I see the appeal with McCarthy, he was as unselfish as they come allowing the run game to shine instead of checking to pass plays. I think his ceiling is a solid game manager.
