Luck is not the answer anyway. All we would have is another (hypothetically) quality QB and still not have addressed the current problems. Fix the problems first then worry about the next QB.

Belichick or most coaches would never tank a season. Nor is it legal within the NFL rules (heavy fines).

Most players at least in ones in the past played for pride. I think most still do today although I imagine some don't. back in the day pride was more than $.

It's all about intersecting need and talent.

You don't just take a CB at a certain spot no matter what. The best prospects, or the ones we may have been hoping for at the top of the 2nd round, may not be there.

Also, some teams may not want to give up their picks for ours, though I'm sure the Dolphins will do everything they can to land Luck.

This is the NFL and you can't seriously believe that we are going to tank the rest of the year, let's get real. Anyone who athlete who has made it this far in his career has work to hard in there life's to tank a season. Especially when the average NFL career is only 3 years. Guys have to much pride and those that don't have know they have to play for there next contract, because other teams will be watching....

Basically four years, somewhere between $25-28 million, based on what this year's rookie deals looked like. (Cam Newton got 4 years, $22 million, fully guaranteed.)

In short, affordability is no longer an issue when it comes to #1 picks. This is the time to have a top pick.
