If You Were A College Qb, Would You Come To The Colts?

Recommended Posts

Agreed. If I'm a top 10 pick then one year on the bench tops. A QB beyond a top 10-15 pick has no guarantee of starting from day 1 anywhere so they don't have the options that a top 10-15 pick QB has, imo.

Here is the first time i agree with Jason. If we don't get the opportunity for Luck with the #1, by no means should we ever take a QB until we grind Peyton Manning down in his last 2 years. Might as well start building the Defense instead and try to aim to be a more balanced team once Manning is done for.

I think the top prospects (Luck, Barkley, Jones) will likely not want to come here if Peyton's recovery is going well. For one, we know that Manning likes to do everything in practice with the first team, so developing behind him isn't really going to be the peanut butter and jelly sandwich everyone is hoping for. Plus, any chance at scoring huge, mega money at the end of the rookie contract, or getting an owner/GM to build a team around the new kid's talents, would be very slim as he rides the pine for 4 years. Most of the players that make the Colts who they are will be gone by that time. If we didn't load up on picks instead of taking a top QB, we will have less talent going forward for whomever the new guy is anyway.

A guy from the 2nd or 3rd round would probably be fine with getting drafted at all. Then they will be getting paid, though costing the Colts far less money, to observe Manning and avoid injury. This would be far more akin to the Rodgers scenario.

the kid would still have talent by the time he plays. your forgetting we will have another picks to make talent for the future and its not like there isnt gonna be players for the kid to have like tamme, garcon, and collie would all be roughly 30 or so when he gets to play and also all the young talent we would get for him through the draft.
