Big time 26-20 win for the Cardinal... they physically hammered the Ducks and Mariota who has an MCL problem now.

Starting to look like a Bama-FSU showdown is on the way.

26-20 was NOT representative of the man-handling last night .... if not for the field goal block TD and an onside kick late its 26-6....   Id like to see Stanford vs Bama,

Oregon are frauds. None of these top 5 teams can beat Alabama. It's seriously sad

If Stanford played as hard and as tough as they did last night, they can beat anyone..That was some of the most hard nosed, old school football I've seen in a very long time. I'm not saying they would beat Bama if they played, but if that was Bama against Stanford last night..Bama would have gotten its butt kicked.

And think about this one..if Bama loses to LSU, its going to be a FSU/Ohio State Natl Championship..They won't take a one loss team over 3 unbeatens..(Baylor is playing lights out, but they could just be the South's version of Oregon)

Pulling for LSU this weekend to beat Bama id like to see Stanford and FSU or FSU and Baylor

I didn't get to see much of the game unfortunately. How did Ty Montgomery play?

He got a couple nice plays in..had a real nice end around..but it was mostly Tyler Gaffney, with 9 men on the line, ramming it down Oregon's throats..he ended up with the end around for 14 yards, and 2 receptions for 20 yards, and almost broke a return for a TD of 57 yards. Hogan only threw the ball 13 times for 7 receptions..Gaffney set a record with 45 rushing attempts...they ran the ball 67 times.. They just man-handled Oregon. Oregon knew what was coming on mostly every play and still Stanford just destroyed their D-Line, and their D kept Mariota and the Ducks off the field and wore them out all game long. That LB Skol was a beast on D.

I would have liked to see Oregon get that second onside kick. The would have had it with about 2 minutes left in the game. On the first Oregon TD not scored on the blocked kick, Oregon marched down, but then Stanford stepped it back up and made it really hard for Oregon, making them use a lot of clock, before they finally scored to make it 26-20. It was like everytme Oregon got in the red zone, they messed up..Thomas's fumble on the 3 really hurt them early..and Mariota had guys all over him all game.

I actually really like that Montgomery comes from the Stanford where they power run frequently much like we're trying to do. I would love to draft him and get him ready for Reggie's retirement.

    • Another part of the issue is that he has bet on some older TE prospects. Woods, Ogletree, Mallory…all older players.   If you have TE prospects who never really dominated in college and are already 23-25…hard to bank on potential occurring at the highest level. It worked with Doyle, but he’s a bit of an outlier.   Prob better off signing some mid-level FA who is in his mid-late 20s with a known floor than chase potential of a TE already in his mid 20s. Or at least have a combination so there’s a floor. That’s what is really missing from the room…a high floor player.    You also have to actually invest in the position, which typically means multiple Day 2 picks. Ballard didn’t even draft a TE for several years. And the only real draft investment was Woods in R3 and Granson in R4. I go back to that 2021 draft and still can’t understand how he passed on Muth, who was a perfect replacement for Doyle.
    • One of those big heavy winter ski type coats sometime in the late 80's
    • Look, I'm not trying to be arguimentive but Ballard is not a bad GM Irsay is not going to fire Ballard anything soon. Might as well either accept it or continue to whine.
    • My evaluation is irrelevant. I'm just a fan.   But on this forum, I don't see how else we as fans can evaluate the GM without looking at his past successes and failures.
    • How you evaluate a GM and how Jim Irsay evaluates him is on different spectrums. You evaluate strictly on wins and losses, and some owners may put a great emphasis on that, but it’s greatly diminishing the responsibilities of a GM in a multi billion dollar nfl organization.
