Manziel gets my vote..He has similar stats as last year and almost beat Alabama by himself again, and just off the eyeball test is the most exciting college player I have ever seen. i think the only way he loses is voters dislike for him personally which should have no bearing in my opinion..

Mariota-Seems to be a product of the Oregon system and I don't see him translating to the pros..

Bridgewater- A great talent, but never plays against top competition..

Murray-Great stats, but lost in the big games..

Gurly-Best RB to come out since Adrian Peterson, but injuries have derailed him this year...

Winston-My runner-up, great talent who would be the #1 pick if he could come out this year...Plays nothing like a freshman..I think next 2 years he will be the favorite and could win 2 years on a row..

Mariota can play in any type system. When he has to he can stand in the pocket, has a quick release, and is very accurate in both short and long throws. He has amazing stats, when you figure, he's sat for at least the 4th quarter in most of his games. Through Oregon's 1st 7 games, he has accounted for 28TD's, I've seen Mariota do things at age 19..that's right..19 years old, that many established QB's can't do. He's the right height in 6'4, and can run a sub 4.5 40. Out of 28 total TD's, 21 have come from passing, and still has yet to throw an interception. Like I've said for over a year...the kid is the real deal...and he's only going to get better, especially if he stays another year at Oregon.

There are a lot of good players, but they aren't going to beat Mariota, especially if he and the Ducks keep on winning and dominating other teams..They even have had their most explosive weapon in De'Anthony Thomas for the last 4 games.

Just remember, when you look at the stats, remember this..going into tonight's games, Mariota has played 80 less snaps than Manziel.

Mariota, I had Oregon as my Pre season National title pick last year and to this day believe they should have been in title game over Bama as their loss was in ot to a conf champ vs Bama's loss vs a good but not great Texas A m squad.  They would have run ND over as well.  This year they appear to be  clear #1 so far as no one has come within 21 of them. Mariota makes those teams go and is doing things no Oregon QB has done before be it Masoli,Dixon,Deron.   It DeAnthony hadnt gotten hurt it would have hurt his Heisman chances a bit because some voters would have sided with DAT and his explosive skills so injury may have helped Mariota get the hardware this season.

    • Yeah... Richardson needs players who can separate and who can get open deep. IMO "give the inaccurate QB a contested catch receiver with large catch radius" is one of the tropes that hasn't proven to work well. Contested catches have about 50-55% success rate even with the best of contested catch receivers and with relatively accurate QBs... now if you think AR's accuracy is not good, drop that rate even more. The best way to give a relatively inaccurate QB better chance to complete passes is to give him a WR who separates and and who is open so the QB would have more of a margin for error to throw the ball a little behind or ahead or a little higher or lower than ideal. (we are not talking about uncatchable balls here... those will be uncatchable for anyone really). In that regard, one thing I would agree about is - we need WRs who have good hands and have good ball skills.   And this is ignoring that AR has indeed been pretty good with his accuracy on passes at intermediate and long range. His biggest problem coming into the league was the short stuff and he was already showing improvements in that deparment before he got injured.    And Worthy is the WR who created the most separation from anybody in this draft :
    • Richardson  accuracy  on deep balls is his strength.  Hence why you pair an elite deep threat in worthy.
    • No.   You weren’t.   If you were the least bit sincere, we’d be having these conversations in private.  But you’ve repeatedly ignored my efforts to do that.  Your call.      Then you avoid me until I’m in an uncomfortable conversation with another poster.   You use that awkward moment as an excuse for you to come in with some sincere friendly advice.   The problem is, you’re neither sincere, nor friendly.  And you’ve been doing this for months now.  This is not new.   The pattern is clear and obvious.     And the shame of it all is that even with our different views on Ballard we have enough in common that we should be friendly.  Maybe not friends, but friendly.  You wouldn’t need to address me as “Sir.”    “Good deed going unpunished”.  You flatter yourself.     But your actions speak much louder than your words.   There’s no reason for me to trust you.  And here we are.  A real shame.
