Colts should re-sign Brown to 1 - 2 year deal

If we're only allowed to talk things about players we personally know. This board would be silent lol.

I would say there is a difference between just talking about players and assuming what a player is thinking. I think Brown has been playing better, but I'd be surprised if contract motivation had much to do with it.

It's unknowable either way though lol.

To say "he is motivated by a contract", or to say "no that's wrong he isn't motivated by his contract" is just speculation on both sides. Just because one assumes a positive doesn't make it correct or neutral.

It depends entirely on the price. I think Donald's worth bringing back, but not worth paying a premium to keep around.

I agree, it depends on how much he wants.  Honestly anything more then a million a year is too much.  You can get good backs in the late rounds that get paid NFL min.

I don't think its about money at all....they had Brown on special teams

We have a coaching staff that wants big, slow collision-style runners..

They don't see the need for his kind

Brown has 11 games to show Pagano that he needs a fast halfback..

I think Brown has shown already that we really can use a fast running back.

And, growing up on the NJ shore, where Brown and Knowshon Moreno went to HS (my school beat Knowshon's for the state title my junior year when he was a freshman, and his school took the next 3 -- and the reason Donnie wasn't first-team all-state was solely because Knowshon was in the same class as him) -- I can almost guarantee you that Donnie isn't just playing for money -- he is a class act, very good family, very humble, and I think he has put in his best effort since day 1 as a Colt.  I think this is just the first year that we are utilizing him the proper way.

Meh. Not against it, but there are of plenty of backs who can do what he does in late rounds of the draft or free agency.

Disagree. Brown has never had a decent run-blocking line, so to say there are "plenty of backs..." is really kinda baseless. I'll agree that he is not a great blocker, but other than that, he's a good back.

While he is playing better for sure, I'm not sold from what I've seen over the last 3 years as opposed to the last 3 weeks. It is time to move on after this year imo.

I think Brown is a better blocker than we give him credit for.  He has the "G'dangit Donald" video with Peyton and the sack against Miami... other than that, I don't really see many problems with his pass-blocking -- I am sure he has been in on at least 100 plays in his career as a pass blocker besides those 2 and I don't really recall any significant mistakes otherwise.

I am glad people are not giving him too much flack for that punt block last week -- he had 2 guys up the gut and forced the eventual blocker to the outside (he made a very good cutback to block it) but he ate up the guy coming straight up the guy -- that was as good of a play as he could have possibly made given the circumstance (IMO)

    • I just cant understand taking D line over a CB this year.  WR or Bowers would make sense to me   If the team doesnt value corners this way then maybe they should start.  I dont like to pigeon hole what we draft this hard but our secondary is a bunch of nobodies and our Dline is ok, better than ok actually.  We dont even have many snaps for a rookie unless they are a really good edge right out of the gate. A rookie DT from this class isnt beating Buckner or Stewart.
    • We see many coverage failures by all teams caused by miscommunication.  Certainly there are exceptional individuals that play CB but experience and intelligence are vital.  Flowers had size and 4.3's speed, and Jones was decent. Juju has potential but because of his size and speed he will always be successfully targeted.   We are desperate for a 4.3's stud that can cover anytime, anywhere. That was Rodgers BTW.
    • Isaiah Land he says.     Every year it happens. The Dallas Cowboys make some tough roster cuts and we all wait nervously to see if our favorite prospects make it cleanly through waivers. Most do, but every once in a while, a team will scoop up that one guy we were hoping made it to the practice squad. This year, that player is edge rusher Isaiah Land. An undrafted free agent from Florida A&M, Land dealt with injuries his final year in college, but had a remarkable season in 2021 when he finished with 19 sacks, 25.5 tackles for a loss, and three fumble recoveries. While there is a lot to be uncovered with him, he still flashed enough to draw interest from the Cowboys. Throughout the summer, the young edge rusher had impressed and it looked like the team had found another diamond in the rough. Land was fantastic during the preseason. In three games, he finished with 10 total pressures, which was the second-most of any player on any NFL team this preseason. He also finished with seven hurries on 45 pass-rushing snaps. He only recorded one official sack but finished with a pass rush win rate of 20%. Not only that, he had opposing tackles so worried about his get-off that they were regularly jumping early. There were several instances when tackles would get called for a false start.    Might as well be optimistic about  Woods and Land contributing to our resurrection.
    • Nice catch Stitch.  Year two of Steichen, our very functional TE group and Downs gives me very high expectations that we will be highly effective attacking the middle of the field. If we do add another WR to help complement the other side of the field, Pittman's ability to be even more outstanding only goes up. And I feel confident another guy will be added. Our offense should be very strong for 2024.
    • I'm hopeful Colts resign Blackmon and do this in the draft
