Best Case Scenario

Recommended Posts

Peyton Manning is cleared in the offseason and is told he should be able to play another 3 years or so, therefore making a full recovery after resting this season.

2012 Draft...

We still earn the 1st overall pick with a 2-14 record and trade down to the 3rd overall pick with a team like Seattle, KC, or Miami. (We get a lot back even though we only moved down 2 spots. The team gives us their 3rd overall and next year's 1st round pick for the rights to draft Luck.

At the 3 spot, look who is still sitting there for us....LT Matt Kalil, the best LT prospect in years! We move Costanzo to RT and Ijalana to OG and look out! This OL is now a beast and still very young.

We then draft a talented QB in the 3rd or 4th round either this year or next unless a stud is there with one of our extra 1st round picks next year.

This is just my thoughts guys on what would help this team the most.

The best case scenario for us will not involve a QB or an OL prospect with our first pick.

Unless Castonzo or Ijalana are unable to play next season we will not draft an OL-man in the first round; we have too many other needs. We will probably draft a guard/s in later rounds.

Agreed with both. I can understand the desire to get the best OL possible, but we drafted our 2 OT's last year and there's no indication at this point that they won't be able be what we want them to be. There's no need to draft another OT in the first round and move our 2nd round OT from last year to a position he's never played. It would not only be a waste of this year's first round pick but it would also devalue the pick we used for Ijalana. Great guards can be had in the middle rounds and I would fully expect one to be drafted, probably in either the 3rd or 4th round.

We all love Peyton Manning. But he has maybe 2 years max. He is going to retire sooner than later. Look up the statistics of his kind of neck injury, it is NOT GOOD. Of course we'd all love for him to play as long as possible, but reality is he needs to look out for his own health, because he is going to be a DARN good coach soon and he is now a father. Our best future scenerio is Luck at QB, when Manning Offensive Coordinator/Head Coach for the next decade... Only if Manning would want to stay with the colts.
