Yes, it's going to be ugly but there's not much we can do about it.  Just hope for few injuries against a very physical team.  It would not surprise me to see someone go down with a season-ender.  And various other injuries of varying sorts and degrees.  If we can escape out of there with our dignity and just a couple dings here and there, then we did more than Cowherd thought we would.  GO COLTS !!!!

Cowherd is consistently anti-Colts the few times I have bothered to listen to him. This really isn't a surprise. Like jvan said, he may be right, or he could be completely wrong. He's just guessing like anyone else. Although it is tough to see it being worse than Luck's pick 6-fest with the Pats last season.

He actually is very pro-Colts. Had us in his top 10 NFL teams until this week. He says Luck is the best of the young QBs. Even after he said SF would kill us this week, he followed that up by saying he still likes the Colts and thinks we are a solid team. Also, the discussion of the game was in the context of his weekly eliminator picks. His reasoning for picking SF was that they are at home coming off an embarrassing loss on national TV. If the game was at Indy, he would feel different.

I happen to enjoy Cowherd--I know a lot of people don't. Either way, he is totally pro Colts and Luck. He just has an opinion about this weeks game that seems otherwise, but it needs to be put in the context of what he is doing. He wasn't just talking about us getting beat badly to bash us, it was because of his opinion of using SF as his eliminator pick this week due more to contextual factors.

Vegas has us as 10.5 dawgs. We should probably be hating on them if anyone.

Listen. Their defense isn't that spectacular. GB scored on them, Sea scored on them, Ravens scored on them. I think our offense can absolutely score on them. I posted in another thread that they're giving up on avg 30+ points a game. I believe we can make some plays and this will definitely be closer than some think.

Admittedly I don't listen to him very often nor did I hear the segment in question. However, I definitely remember hearing him bash Indianapolis in the past. Maybe I am getting it confused with a Pacers rant....

He could have in the past, and I'm sure he did or else you wouldn't be saying he did. I started listening to him consistently about a year ago and haven't heard anything overly negative about the Colts or the Pacers.

Now that I think more about it, I think it was a rant he went on about how terrible Pacer fans were due to low attendance while having a good team.

So you're telling me I should start Alex Smith over Luck this week in fantasy?

KC plays Philly....I might have regardless

I think Luck has either a very good game or a very bad game (no middle of the road). Smith is Smith and won't hurt you but probably won't bring a ton of upside (middle of the road). Do you like to go the horse track or mow your yard on Saturdays?

Yeah, Cowherd loves Luck to an almost unseemly degree. He's always pointing out how much he was asked to do last year, defending the "he turns the ball over too much" argument by pointing out the high # attempts and down field attempts, comparing Luck's reads to the easier reads of the other rookie's, brings on like Cosell who agree... So this isn't a usual opinion for him. He's a Vegas guy, he's going with Vegas. And if Luck plays great and drags the Colts to a win then he can say he told us all along how great Luck was.

You nailed it. I thought it was interesting he chose this game instead of Jags @ 'Hawks.

Been a longgggg time colts fan... But guys use your head here.

49ers are gonna dismantle us... We barely beat the raiders lol

Allen, Thomas, and Vick out FTS???? Get on your horse grigson, we need some legit play makers.

Here's what I'm hoping for- McGlynn and Satele get burned and pummeled so many times by Willis, bowman, and brooks that they make an immediate switch to Holmes and Link so they start the next "gelling" process :) whose with me???

GO HORSE

Might be, but that is not his M.O.  He prides himself on logic and taking emotion out of it.  And his relatively high correct to incorrect ratio.

Oh I know CC. He was in Portland for years before he made the big time. I am not saying he will be right or wrong, I am saying he knows how to stir it up. However, I hope he is wrong in this case.

Yeah, it's classic radio shtick. If the Colts beat the Niners it's going to require an amazing game out of Luck so either way it's an "I knew it all along! I told you so! I told you this last year, I just underestimated my own genius..."

Maybe he's saving the Jags for later because they're a bye wk in an eliminator?

U frightened or what?   Good thing the 49ers looked so bad on Sunday or u would be expecting several careers to come to an end.

Best time to face the 49ers the QB has looked bad and their defense lost some good players. If all else fails Donald and Ahmad better be ready to man up.

It certainly looks like this could be Luck's worst game ever on paper- tough D is * off after being blown out, we're playing in their house across the country, our rookie guard making his first start gets Justin Smith as his welcoming party....I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Luck had a horrible game.

But that's why they play the game. Just because our backs are up against the wall and conventional logic says we'll get smashed doesn't make it so. I'm looking forward to see how we handle the hostile environment. I'm not expecting a win- but if we can play better than we did last year in similar spots, I'll be happy with the progress.

    • Any chance we take a OT with the 1st pick?
    • FWIW:   Today I listened to a guy from The Athletic interviewed on ESPN.   (Darren Lee). He said interviewing GMs at the combine, almost all view DeJean as a safety except two teams.  He thinks the Colts and Jags view DeJean as a corner.     I don’t know this reporter, never seen him before, so I can’t speak to his credibility.  But it sounds like he did a lot of homework.     And I appreciate your view on pro day times being reliable or not.   I’m always skeptical on pro days.  But I thought DeJean helped himself on his testing.
    • I could care less what he does. Been too long ago.
    • I’m with ya..     I'm not sure we’re going WR at 15 either.  I think we could go DE, and it’s possible we could go CB as well.   Gosh,  I love Mitchell and really like Arnold as well.  And if we trade back I would be fine with McKinstry or a DE on defense or one of the 2nd tier of WRs that could be there in the 20’s.  So many options.   I keep reminding myself, every pick could produce a surprise, because I think Ballard will have so many options to choose from.      Im also not sure Ballard will use all 7 rounds.   He finished in 5 rounds in his first draft 2017,  and he finished in 6 rounds in 2019.   Maybe he uses all 7 rounds, but I’m not confident we will.     One week from tonight.
    • My Final Mock Draft   15. Brock Bowers, TE,  6’4 245 Lbs, Georgia - Blue Chip Prospect.  Rare combination of acceleration, speed and body control. Hands-catcher operating with good coordination and technique. With Pittman on the outside Bowers will control the middle of the field and seams. AR Will develop much quicker into a top 10 QB with Bowers as his TE.  46. TJ Tampa, CB, 6’1, 190 Lbs, Iowa State - Elite physical traits. Plays with good positioning throughout routes. Very good in press Coverage and Zone. Expect him to compete in training camp and be named a starter.      82. Calen Bullock, S, 6’2 190 lbs, USC - Elite physical traits. He has the range to play single-high safety, the athleticism to line up over the slot and the ball skills to chalk up impressive on-ball production. Expect him to compete in training camp for the starting S position.    117. Tez Walker,  WR,  6’2 195 Lbs, UNC - Elite speed with very good body control. Career average of 30.7 yards on touchdown receptions. Gives us very good depth and competition with Pierce.    151. Grayson Murphy, DE, 6’3 260 Lbs, UCLA - Shows impressive quickness and change of direction to help turn speed to power as a rusher. Good depth.    191.  Keaton Bills, G, 6’5 320 Lbs, Utah - Cerebral player, quick to react to twists and stunts up front. Very good depth.
