Colts Defense After 5 Games.

I really expected better run D. Its so hard to watch our D stay on the feild for most of the last half of the game. I admit that the offense failing to sustain drives is a part of the problem. What is goin on though, didnt we make moves to shore up this problem? It very frustrating watching this happen year after year.

On A side note I cant believe we got up 17 points only to watch it get pounded away.

We are giving the receivers too big of cushions. There is no excuse for that, especially when they only need 2+ yards for a first down. That will continue to kill us, until Coyer does something to fix or we get rid of him.

It's a good thing they got rid of Tryon,Lacey is clearly the better player.

It starts with the offense!! The first half...the D played pretty well until the last drive. Then, the offense couldn't move the ball in the 2nd half and the D was on the field all half and wore down. This D is designed to be adequate with Manning at the helm....and that was fine. But he's not there and they are suffering b/c of it.

lol, the offense gave the defense a 17 point lead.

The defense gave up a 17 point lead.

That's 3 scores.

That's not the offense's fault.

After all, how many of you have run around here spouting about our defense being built to play with a lead this year?

We had a lead. A 3 score lead.

And we lost.

Sure, it's the offense's fault.

The tampa 2 deffense flat out does not work anymore. It hasnt been successful since Dungy came. Yes we may occasionaly get a sack but who needs to pass when you allow almost 10 yards a carry. Larry Coyer was a mistake he was no good as a coach in Denver and he has proven to be even worse here in indy. It may be close to the time to think about rebuilding the defense, and at least drafting a qb to develop under Manning. But even with Manning healthy with the amount of time the defense is on the field it will be tough to be successful.

Offense didn't show up the 2nd half.

Passes were dropped

Offensive line was overrun and cause running game to disappear.

3 and outs before the defense even has a chance to catch their breath and people expecting the D to play well.

Yea for the most part it actually is the offense's fault.

The offense had 30 total yards in the 2nd half until midway through the 4th quarter....right when the Chiefs took the lead. In other words, the defense can hold a lead if the offense remains competent. They didn't, and the Chiefs were given a lot of extra possessions in a short amount of time. That's tough for any defense, let alone one that has struggled as has ours.

I'm not saying our defense was "good," but the offense didn't help them at all in half number 2.

Our defense started out bad, look okay vs the Browns, looked good vs the Steelers, looked pretty good last week, and now it's back to bad. It's going nowhere, and Larry Coyer is to blame.

u blame coyer for what, its not coyer fault that guys are missing tackles and that once again management are not drafting corners and safties to cover alot of undrafted guys who have low ceilings u have to coach to what your players can do we dont have and good corners so we can blitzs or man cover dont blame coyer this is a passing league and u need corners

Three scores.

The defense is built to play with the lead and rush the passer.

This was their ideal situation.

And we lost.

If 3 scores isn't enough of a lead to hold in the NFL there's a serious problem, and it's not with the guys on the sidelines.

Better yet, where is Kevin Thomas? I thought he was gonna be some great CB? He isnt injured, but when Powers went out, we brought in a rookie.

I for one will be glad to blame Coyer. The other teams offensive coordinator doesn't have to be a genius when he knows his offense is going to get the same defensive look every time his team steps up to the line of scrimmage. And his assistant coaches have to teach tackling which apparently is not a big priority. A different look once in a while might make the offense hesitate a microsecond.....sometimes thats all you need.

It's irksome that the coaches stubbornly persist in starting Lacey even though he's regressing with each game. He stank it up today against KC and was clearly over-matched, out-muscled, and out-played. He allowed Dwayne Bowe to catch the ball four separate times on the exact same crossing route and then failed to tackle after the catch -- which led to KC's first TD. As if that wasn't bad enough, he committed two costly penalties (face mask and pass interference) that kept another KC offensive drive alive. Then he failed to stop Bowe on a 2nd TD catch in the end zone despite committing another pass interference penalty that was declined.

It's clear that Lacey does not have the size, strength, nor talent to cover tall and athletic receivers. If he can't handle Bowe, what do you think will happen when he lines up against Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and other big / tall receivers?

What is the team's fascination with Lacey? I don't care that he has more experience than the younger corners or if he's a stud performer during practices. If he continues to fail during game time when it counts, he should be benched. Justin Tryon proved last year that he was a far better CB than Lacey, but instead of awarding Tryon be a starting job this year, the Cols sit him and then cut him from the team! I don't understand their reasoning.

Doesn't help when the offense puts them right back on it going 3 and out over and over and punting it away.

That was more on the defense, even if the offense was getting first downs the defense would give up their own because thats what they have been doing all season.

You are not by yourself my friend. Their handling of Tryon is baffling to say the least.

It was comical watching Bowe abuse Lacey. Putting our worst corner on their best receiver. That's bright. Of course our coaching staff failed to make any adjustments. Just left him on Bowe one on one the entire game to be exploited at will.

Lacy most have racey pictures of Polian at some hotel. What else could it be? The boy cant play. Before all the posters start asking " how long have you been an NFL coach or GM ?" It doesn't take much to see that this years product stinks on the football field. We have been blown out, we have been nipped in the end, now any amount of lead will not be enough. Irsay's twitter says give me some game updates". Here is one for you sir, Your football team sucks!!!!!!.

90% of the players on this defense shouldn't even be in the NFL. Our secondary looks lost on every single play, can't remember the last pick we had. Our linebackers can't tackle, cover, or generally be in the right position. Our D-Line is soft like cookie dough. Bethea, Freeney, and Mathis are the only legit players on this unit.

It's called being gassed. Tampa bay did it last week and pittsburgh the week before. They tired our D out, because it was on the field to much and when they did get off the field the offense didn't help by going 3 and out or in the pitt game turning it over for a TD in less than 10 seconds.

Soooo whos fault is it they are on the field more... offense or defense? id say defense.... with a 3 and out by the offense the defense could come in and give the opposing defense a 3 and 0... but noooo not the colts defense they cant do that... And i was soooo hyped for the defense too, lacey has just been a dissapointment along with how the colts are playing the pass.

If your offense goes 3 and out, The defense has a chance to do the same. Do they always have to give up 13 play drives. Thats like letting someone kick you until they get tired. They stopped the run against pittsburg and had a chance. They did not come close to doing that today.
