Like I said amongst rookies

Ok well I'm pretty sure that everyone else that was talking about whether or not Luck is elite was talking about elite in general, as in among ALL QB's, not just rookies.  and in that regard, in terms of all QB's in the league, no Luck is not quite to the elite status yet.

That's really a myth. Allen's the better blocker, but Coby can block (and block in space).

hey now, I heard somewhere at sometime from someone but I can't remember who that Fleener couldn't block so it must be true. :P

lol   j/k of course.  I agree with you.  I think Fleener gets an undeserved bad rap in terms of blocking.  He's not as good a blocker as Allen, I don't think anyone would dispute that, but he's not nearly as bad as many try to make him out to be.

I did'nt have to watch Bradshaw beat my Colts & did'nt Bradshaw Win A Big Game ??

Eghhhh...

The Steelers won several big games, with Bradshaw as quarterback. The Dolphins won big games with Marino, also, just not a Super Bowl, unfortunately for Marino and his legacy.

The difference is that the Dolphins lost playoff games in which Marino was oustanding, like in '94 against the Chargers, when Marino was 24/38 with 262 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, and they lost 22-21 because Pete Stoyanovich missed a 47 yard field goal at the end. Meanwhile, the Steelers won Super Bowls with Bradshaw going 9/14 with 96 yards and a touchdown, but the defense only gave up 6 points. Or when he threw three interceptions in the Super Bowl against the Rams.

The difference is that Marino carried his teams, while Bradshaw was merely a piece of the puzzle. A very important piece, and he did his job and made big plays along the way. But Dan Marino was a significantly better quarterback than Terry Bradshaw was, and it's crazy for anyone to reduce their careers to just Super Bowls.

But have at it. I've been protesting it at the top of my lungs for years, and it hasn't made any difference.

Okay let me make this simple & my self clear - my use of term elite used earlier today understand my context or my attempt to explain my thoughts regardless what your use is read this & tell me if I'm unclear .. Thank You

I'm not to sure Andrew falls under the " elite" catagory yet .

Sure he does he was an elite rookie who shoulda got the Roy . 11-5  is how the Colts finished after all they were believed to be the worst team & would be celler dwellers . 12's rookie record was much better than 18's .

If anyone really believes that RG3 deserved the Roy & carried his team into the playoffs with no running game or swiss cheese for a offensive line then yeah your probably right .

Then Luck may not be elite , IMO Andrew Luck did more with less then any other rookie & yes in my world he is elite .

During a practice like this, I know they are running 7-7 drills and 11-11 drills, but I have 2 questions.

1. When I watched 7-7 at mini camp, they did not advance the ball, they stayed at one spot and just took snaps, is that what they are doing here or are they advancing the ball upon completions?

2. How many sequences/drives is Andrew Luck seeing daily? I see that he was 17/22 today, but how many drives did it take to get there? 22 passes is not enough for our franchise QB and I am getting worried that this "downhill running game" crap is getting out of hand. He needs around 30-35 opportunities a game, IMO.

It's practice, not a game

Um, yes you are very unclear.  I recognize all of those words, but they dont quite fit together that way.

The discussion that you joined was about whether or not Luck is an elite QB...not an elite Rookie but an elite QB.  You changed it to elite rookie.  Sure he was an elite rookie (you know, WAS, since he's not anymore ;) ), I think most would agree with that.  However that's not the discussion that you joined.  However, as I said earlier, I had all I needed from you after you said Marino was a good QB but not elite. ;)

Either Chapman is going to be great or Satele and McGlynn are terrible. On the camp updates it was reported that Chapman collapsed McGlynn and Satele into the pocket knocking down those 2 and two others, a TE and another OT.

Well we already know McGlynn is terrible, and Satele is potentially just as bad (depending on how much stock you put into that he was not 100% last season) ... I am going to go with Dustin's sentiments and hope the 2 are not mutually exclusive.

I know he's a real long shot, but I'm rooting for Rayford.  I was listening to an interview he did and the kid loves football, he refuses to give up the dream.  He's 27 so this may be his last shot.

Plus, a 6'7" LB has to be able to bat down balls, as well as kicks.

Just curious, how is a 27 year old man called a kid?  For that matter, a 23 year old?  lol  I just always wondered.

Don't worry yourself about Luck's attempts. We're going to throw the ball plenty, but we're not going to throw it just because "he needs 30-35 passes a game."

And the number of throws he attempts in an afternoon of camp has nothing to do with how many throws he'll make during games. Absolutely nothing.

I agree, my point was that Im curious to see what the breakdown between rushing attempts and passing attempts are. I dont want to put TOO much focus on the run and take the ball away from our best playmakers.

It's practice, not a game

Thank you for the condescending and pointless answer, go troll somewhere else.

I simply asked a question and stated my reasoning behind it. If you didnt have anything worth saying then dont post it. No point in being rude just to be rude. We are all on the same team here.

Simply pointing out it was just practice is rude and trolling behavior? Ok....

does anyone have a clip of chapman dropping our linemen like bowling pins

That is probably the greatest thing I have heard from a training in years.  If he can do that to other players during regular season, we will FINALLY have a fun stopping force on the inside for the first time since Siragusa was with us.  Plus, I love the bowling pins analogy :)

He doesn't but he shouldn't either.  I mean he's only a second year player.  Even Peyton Manning wasn't an "elite" QB going into his second season in the NFL.  It takes time to grow into that.  At this point we should be looking for signs that Andrew can grow into an elite QB and if anyone honestly watched his rookie season you saw those signs but the key part is signs not a finished product yet because he's not that and odds are he wont become a finished product till he's completed four to five years in the NFL.  It doesn't mean he's not a very good QB and it doesn't mean we have to wait that long to win but he probably wont be at his peek till then.

    • I would personally like to see more bootlegs, and more throws on the run. AR is SO good at that.   Especially since they love playing out of shotgun so much.
    • Army is playing mistake free football, very impressive so far. One of a handful of unbeaten Group of 5 schools.

    • Once again running out time to put out a complete list of both offense and defensive players and where I have them ranked among their peers.  Common theme from original pre-college Week 1 many of the top players are not even listed or have fallen sharply after around 4 weeks of playing.    2025 NFL Draft QBs Cam Ward - Miami (FL) - Ward’s 3x300 games in a row have earned him 3-straight 90.0+ passing grades.  Jaxson Dart (MISS)  Diego Pavia (Vandy) - after 4 weeks and is R2 in the SEC ahead of Ewers, Manning, Milroe, Nussmeier, and Carson Beck.  Thrown 6 TDs no INTs, recovered 3 teammate fumbles. Ben Wooldridge (Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns) Noah Fiftia (Arizona)  KJ Jefferson (UCF) Tyler Shough (Louisville)  Cam Miller (NDST) Kyle McCord (Syracuse)   2025 NFL Draft OL LG Michael McAninch (Air Force) - After 3 weeks has a 91.7 overall season grade with a 92.4 RB grade.  Proved he can hold up to Baylor didn’t allow any QB pressure. RT Tyler Needham (Rutgers) 6’4” 306-pounds – After 3 weeks been dominant.  On 48 PB snaps only given up 1 QB hurry. LT/RT/OG Grey Zabel (North Dakota State) RT Lucas Scott (Army) 6’3” 305-pounds – After 3 weeks has an 85.2 RB grade.  Figure the Army trains more hand-to-hand combat and could be decent in PB game as well. LG Joshua Gray (Oregon State) LG Donovan Jackson (OSU) - good to see Jackson play again and display his dominance in his return to action. OT Wyatt Milum (West Virginia) RG Luke Kandra (Cincinnati) RG Tate Ratledge (Georgia LT Kelvin Banks Jr (Texas) LG Dylan Fairchild (Georgia) LT Percy Lewis (Auburn) 6’7” 355-pounds – After 4 weeks on 85 snaps has a 78.5 grade as a backup. OC Jake Slaughter (Florida) LT Josh Simmons (OSU)   2025 NFL Draft RBs RB/WR-KR Brashard Smith (Southern Methodist) 5’10” 196 pounds - Smith already has 17 missed tackles, 3rd most among all college RBs. RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise St) 5’9” 215-pounds  RB Quinshon Judkins (OSU) 6’0 219-pounds RB Jonah Coleman (Washington) RB RJ Harvey (UCF) 5’9” 208-pounds RB Ja’Quinden Jackson (Arkansas) 6’2” 233-pounds – Issues fumbling RB Treveyon Henderson (OSU) 5’10” 208 pounds RB Devin Neal (Kansas) 5’11” 215 pounds RB Omarion Hampton (UNC) 6’0” 220 pounds RB Nicholas Singleton (PSU) 6’0” 227 pounds RB Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks (USC) 5’10 208-pounds   2025 NFL Draft WRs WR-Z Tai Felton (Maryland) WR-X Tre Harris (Mississippi) WR-X Ricky White (UNLV) WR-SL Nick Nash (San Jose State) WR-X Tetairoa McMillian (Arizona) WR-Z Kobe Hudson (UCF) WR-SL Kaedin Robinson (App St) WR-SL Xavier Restrepo Miami (FL) WR-X Andrew Armstrong (Arkansas) WR-M/ST PR-KR Jaylin Noel (Iowa St) WR-X Jayden Higgins (Iowa St) WR-Y Emeka Egbuka (OSU)   2025 NFL Draft TE TE Harold Fannin Jr. (Bowling Green) - outproduced rest of TE class against top 25 ranked teams and single-handedly beat PSU.  Prior to week 4 R1 I total yards (204) and YAC with 131. TE Tyler Warren (PSU) TE Jalin Conyers (Texas Tech) - After 3 weeks has an 83.7 overall PFF grade and with Texas Tech excelling in run-blocking.
