im guessing he got popped

Yeah he go popped but you could tell Landry just held back after Pagano reprimand. He prob whispered in his ear "Merry Xmas". Landry was all over the field today. Hits in middle of field and GREAT run stops in the box. Esp since Bethea was not there today.

I didn't think about this earlier. Landry got beat by Fleener up the middle for a big gain. Was he playing the position Bethea would ordinarily be playing?

Chappell had said Lefeged had took Bethea spot for practice today, but who knows on that particular play

Since you have a keen eye & natural gift for Special Team's Brent & SW1 values your opinion tremendously, I will keep an eye out for Mr. McManus. AV can still get the job done, but we need to start grooming his successor. Cruel perhaps, but that's the cut throat, business salary cap side of the NFL.

Age comes to play even with kickers.  That extra 'OOOOPH' to kick a 52 yard field goal is the difference between wide left or right!!!  Just ask me...getting older sucks sometimes :)

So, Prime is back before he can leave the building, and McKinney's gone.

BTW, is this one of those IRs where they can bring him back after week# ?, or am I thinking of something else.

I know, I know, difficult to tell what I'm thinking sometimes.

Also, gotta be odd to be Prime today, huh?

Not sure.  You may be thinking PUP where they can come back immediately/as soon as ready.  I did not see if this was the 'permanent IR' or the one they can come back after so many missed games.  The rules committee on here may be able to help us buccolts. :)

Well describe "Good Hits" exactly.

Cause Laron Landry if anything could be the reason someone on offense gets injured

Anything that is a good clean NFL hit.  Landry for example, does not need to 'launch' at a Reggie Wayne, DHB...TY....etc...these are teammates.  Snot bubbles are for the ENEMY :)

That said, Pags loves live hitting and I do too.....we play in pads not shorts.  If that were the case McGlynn would be an all pro :)

They said Laron popped DHB in yesterday's practice. Guess he was the first victim of Laron as a Colt

He's gonna be a force this year. Make WR's think twice before coming across the middle

Phillip B called it a love tap by Landry's standards...click on "Who hit who" from Colts.com via Indy Star.  Mathis was in Costanzo's grill.... :)

Probably was a love tap. I think Landry has enough control & common sense to know that it wouldn't be smart to knock out your own teammates.

Save the brutal K.O.'s for Arian Foster, CJNoK, & MJD haha

I do not know Landry personally....on the common sense issue...:)  Sometimes hitters just cannot hold back....

Manusky said Werner is currently working second team defense behind Robert Mathis as the Colts rush defensive end.

Didn't I see Walden has been solid so far?  I heard the ever-present "He was setting the edge" I do believe!

To have a one-two punch of Walden and Werner could end up being very effective.  I really cannot wait to see who is second behind Mathis!!  Sidbury......and the list goes on...very exciting.

I know he's a real long shot, but I'm rooting for Rayford.  I was listening to an interview he did and the kid loves football, he refuses to give up the dream.  He's 27 so this may be his last shot.

Plus, a 6'7" LB has to be able to bat down balls, as well as kicks.

I am with you....love seeing the guys being given a chance.  I read where Hickman is also being looked at inside LB....exciting.

Rayford is a kick blocking specialist....that would be great hearing our guy Bob Lamey after a Rayford block!   :)

@andrewmishler: OC Pep Hamilton said Bradshaw's injury status does "not necessarily" affect any decisions at RB. Likes the mental work he's doing.

@andrewmishler: Hamilton on DHB: "He's fast. He has the potential to be an explosive playmaker and he's a pretty good run after the catch guy." (1/2)

@andrewmishler: Hamilton followed on DHB: "We would like his hands to be a little more consistent, but he's working at it."

@andrewmishler: Hamilton: "I'm excited about Griff (Whalen). He's having a good camp so far. He still has a ways to go, but were excited about Griff."

@andrewmishler: Hamilton on Fleener: "He's making plays that big-time NFL players tend to make."

@andrewmishler: To piggyback that @JimIrsay tweet, Pep Hamilton said the Colts are "a physical, downhill, running football team" today. Panic button?

Interesting fact I discovered on the colts.com roster

Mr. Josh McNary weighs more than our Mr. Jerell Freeman.

So, could McNary be the ILB partner of Freeman? I think that's gonna be something I watch this pre-season

Bremer just confirmed McNary is working at ILB.

This is the Jim Irsay tweet that was referred to

@JimIrsay: 5 KEYS 1) Protect #12 better 2) Stop Run(In Top 10 in NFL) 3) Run the Ball(Top 10) 4) Outstanding Special Teams 5) Win 3rd Down/Defense

Yep, you do that, and have an elite QB, you're going to win games.

I think I'm more excited about this team than any in the last 10 or so years.

I'm not to sure Andrew falls under the " elite" catagory yet .

This season might have to make that "yet" be reassessed, although being part of considered Elite is consistency and longevity if he has a exceptional season combined with having a halfway decent one last year (with zilch to work with in key areas) then the debate might start more earnestly.

Does this mean Josh McNary hasn't been doing well?

@andrewmishler: I get that Josh McNary is a cool story and everything, but I don't really understand the obsession with him from a football standpoint.

:scratch::eek:

I think Kevin Bowen's tweet yesterday made it pretty clear he impressed the coaches in one on one drills.

To me, how can Mishler say this after one day anyway?  28 sacks at Army was not a fluke.

    • I would personally like to see more bootlegs, and more throws on the run. AR is SO good at that.   Especially since they love playing out of shotgun so much.
    • Army is playing mistake free football, very impressive so far. One of a handful of unbeaten Group of 5 schools.
    • Quick listing of my top defensive players after 4 weeks.  Enjoy and time to enjoy the weekend.     2025 NFL Draft DL/Edge LDEdge Jared Ivey (Ole Miss) 6’6” 285 pounds NT Rene Konga (Louisville) 6’4” 290 pounds RDEdge Princely Umanmielen (Ole’ Miss) 6’4” 255 pounds Edge/LB David Walker (Central Arkansas) 6’2” 260 pounds Edge/LOLB Josaiah Stewart (Michigan) NT/DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss) – 6’4” 290 pounds LDEdge Ashton Gillotte (Louisville) 6’3” 275 pounds LDEdge Jack Sawyer (OSU) 6’4” 265 pounds DT 3-tech Tyleik Williams (OSU) 6’3” 327 pounds 3- 4 RDT Vernon Broughton (Texas) 6’4” 305-pounds DT-3T T.J. • Once again running out time to put out a complete list of both offense and defensive players and where I have them ranked among their peers.  Common theme from original pre-college Week 1 many of the top players are not even listed or have fallen sharply after around 4 weeks of playing.    2025 NFL Draft QBs Cam Ward - Miami (FL) - Ward’s 3x300 games in a row have earned him 3-straight 90.0+ passing grades.  Jaxson Dart (MISS)  Diego Pavia (Vandy) - after 4 weeks and is R2 in the SEC ahead of Ewers, Manning, Milroe, Nussmeier, and Carson Beck.  Thrown 6 TDs no INTs, recovered 3 teammate fumbles. Ben Wooldridge (Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns) Noah Fiftia (Arizona)  KJ Jefferson (UCF) Tyler Shough (Louisville)  Cam Miller (NDST) Kyle McCord (Syracuse)   2025 NFL Draft OL LG Michael McAninch (Air Force) - After 3 weeks has a 91.7 overall season grade with a 92.4 RB grade.  Proved he can hold up to Baylor didn’t allow any QB pressure. RT Tyler Needham (Rutgers) 6’4” 306-pounds – After 3 weeks been dominant.  On 48 PB snaps only given up 1 QB hurry. LT/RT/OG Grey Zabel (North Dakota State) RT Lucas Scott (Army) 6’3” 305-pounds – After 3 weeks has an 85.2 RB grade.  Figure the Army trains more hand-to-hand combat and could be decent in PB game as well. LG Joshua Gray (Oregon State) LG Donovan Jackson (OSU) - good to see Jackson play again and display his dominance in his return to action. OT Wyatt Milum (West Virginia) RG Luke Kandra (Cincinnati) RG Tate Ratledge (Georgia LT Kelvin Banks Jr (Texas) LG Dylan Fairchild (Georgia) LT Percy Lewis (Auburn) 6’7” 355-pounds – After 4 weeks on 85 snaps has a 78.5 grade as a backup. OC Jake Slaughter (Florida) LT Josh Simmons (OSU)   2025 NFL Draft RBs RB/WR-KR Brashard Smith (Southern Methodist) 5’10” 196 pounds - Smith already has 17 missed tackles, 3rd most among all college RBs. TE Tyler Warren (PSU) TE Jalin Conyers (Texas Tech) - After 3 weeks has an 83.7 overall PFF grade and with Texas Tech excelling in run-blocking.
