ManningToCollie's Colts mock draft 2.0

Recommended Posts

Final Colts mock draft will be Thursday.

Without trade:

1st Round 24th pick: Colts select Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

The more I watch Desmond Trufant play, the more I think he has the potential to be an elite cornerback. He is a very athletic corner with good coverage and great against the run. Him paired up with Vontae Davis, Greg Toler, and Darius Butler will really make our secondary stronger.

3rd Round 86th pick: Colts select Trevardo Williams, OLB, UConn

Williams excels in pass rush and that's exactly what the Colts need after departing with Dwight Freeney. Having 115 sacks in his Senior season, you can clearly tell he will bring an impact to the game. He should challenge Walden for the starting linebacker spot.

4th Round 121st pick: Colts select David Bahktiari, OT/OG, Colorado

Bahktiari is on my list for the most underrated offensive line prospects. His run blocking is great and his pass blocking is good but has some issues. Bahktiari can play both offensive tackle and offensive guard which can help us with depth.

6th Round 192nd pick: Corey Fuller, WR, Virginia Tech

Fuller is a deep threat with some height which the Colts are lacking besides Reggie Wayne. I think he has the potential to be a very good number 2 receiver outside of Wayne. The thing I like about Fuller is his separation with corners. Similar to Reggie Wayne, he doesn't have elite speed but he is prospect to watch out for.

7th Round 230th pick: Ray Graham, RB, Pittsburgh

Yes, we have Donald Brown, Vick Ballard, and Delone Carter but we can never have enough running backs. Graham fits the scheme of a power back and could be used well for third down situations.

7th Round 245th pick: Earl Watford, OG, James Madison

More depths moves for our offensive line. Small school prospect who could have potential to be a starting guard.

Not too bad at all. If Trufant is available at #24, he would be difficult to pass up. I keep reading different opinions of Williams, but although he is a tad undersized at 6' 1" he has a tremendous first step and would be a significant threat in the pass rush. Bahktiari is actually ranked fairly high on Mayock's Big Board. He might be a great 4th round find.

If Williams did have 115 sacks in his senior season I think he might get picked higher lol

Dont like Trufant in the 1st, I think we can get him in a trade down, rather go Jamar Taylor or pass rusher or Guard

If we go Corner in the first and pass rusher in the 3rd I'd rather go Corey Lemonier

I like Oscar Johnson in the 4th if we go Guard (He played LT at Louisiana Tech but is projected to play Guard to to his lack of foot speed, He started out Right Guard at Tech)

Rather go with Chris Thompson in the 7th as well

if we are going CB in the first id rather take DJ Hayden, or Rhodes, one of the 2 are likely to be there, i highly doubt 3 CBs will be taken before 24, and i like them better than Trufant, and who knows, a team may like Trufant ahead of those 2, i still like Hayden the best tho but love Rhodes' size

If we go CB in first round, I'd prefer a hard hitting, pressing player as Pagano is the DB-whisperer, so he could probably teach them a thing or two.

Now if I am not mistaken criticism about Trufant has been his tackling ability, and from the videos posted on youtube, Gavin's Jamar Taylor looks like a really good player. He plays very aggresively and I that is what I would want for the Colts.

Along with the video I put up I'll add I dont think any of the Corners coming out are on the level of Claiborne or Janoris Jenkins BUT I  think the players I listed as guys I like at Corner (in particular I have them) have that ability in my opinion to be shut down Corners and I will even add one......Trufant but I still wouldn't take him at 24

    • Yep. He must of woke up Thursday with it. I assume Pinter will play center if he can’t go. That tackle slot is worrisome if smith can’t go. The defense is looking ridiculously banged up.
    • QB is hard.  It's easy to sit back and expect guys to look like Marino but every QB has a different ceiling and a different path to that ceiling.  And again getting there is a long and tough road and the toughness in that road includes everything from injuries to quality of the team around them.   Richardson still looks like the guy we saw on tape in college.  He is an elite run threat who can put the ball anywhere on the field, but his consistency in ball placement is not good.  I used to believe that can't be fixed.  Until Josh Allen.  Now these types of QBs are guys teams will take a flyer on, because of supply and demand, and the immense impact if you can hit on one of them.  But here we are and he's still the same QB, which is a bit of a concern to me at this point.   It's not like he doesn't still have time to get his game in order.  He does.  And even if he fails in Indy he'll have another chance with another team due to his talent level.  So it's still too early to get all crazy about where he's at.   For myself I'll say what I keep saying about him: he needs to learn to move the offense from the protection of the pocket.  That is how you have a long career and end up in the Hall with a million passing yards.  If he does not develop that part of his game the end result will be his teams will use his legs to move the offense and he'll get hurt and miss time and demonstrate why RBs have such a short shelf life.  So his career is in his hands.  He has to learn and do it or he'll suffer the results.
    • I wonder how Kelly got his neck injury he seemed fine and even practiced on Wednesday right,
    • Seems like every time the Colts face the Steelers the OL gets injured smh.
    • Through three games, Richardson is tied for sixth among QBs with 18 rushing attempts (6.0 per game). That's about half of the rushing attempts of league leaders Jayden Daniels, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/nfl-qb-rushing-yards-leaders-2024
