Irsay: Manning is OK

I don't think Jim actually knows. There has been no communication allowed between team personnel and players whatsoever.

So, I think what he is saying is that, he was fine before, I expect he'll be fine now.

Probably true but, be nice to hear from the team doc

Peyton won't say how he is feeling. I remember after he was struggling with his bursa sack injury he said he wished he would have kept kept quit because he didn't know how the jags (i think that was the team he was playing) to know he was hurt so they wouldn't rush him more. We won't truly know how he is feeling until the season starts and we see how accurate he is.

Our management tell us what they think we want to hear, whether it's true or not.

Marvin is nearly ready....Bob is nearly ready etc.

So, no to your question.

A while ago, I remember reading that teams were allowed to discuss things with doctors regarding player's health. So I am sure that Manning is keeping Irsay up-to-date on his status through his doctor.

Also I don't believe for a minute that most coaches, GMs, and involved owners are not in regular contact with their marquee players. They may have to send a text through a couple of other people first but I bet they can get it done.

i feel that the colys should go out and find a veteran QB to back up PEYTON JUS IN CASE HE IS NOT READY FOR THE OPENING GAME. KOLB WILL BE A GOOD FIT FOR THE COLTS.SO I HOPE IRSAY WILL LISTED TO THE FANS AND GO GET A QUALITY BACK UP QB

Everyone is forgetting one major detail in this whole is Peyton ok thing... the guy has NO contract! Im sure he is waiting for clearance from the Colts before he goes and throws a bunch. If he gets hurt on his own time with no contract, who's to say the Colts would help with the rehab.. ? Hes smart. Don't throw, wait for Colts rehab specialists to give the ok to go, then start practicing. Peytons a thinker... trust me when I say he is just waiting for the OK.

Thanks but that article also just speculation, Irsay said hasnt seen any medical records etc , this from yesterday TV

I read a post they showed on NFL network that simply said IRSAY : says Peyton will be ready to start the season, nothing at all regarding injury or training camp

If you are looking for something more than speculation at this point, you are not going to get it.

Kolb wants to go somewhere to be the starter. He is not a good fit for the Colts. Also, I am thankful every day that Irsay and Polian do not listen to the fans, and I hope that continues.

Absolutely! Just imagine if we fans had a say:

1. By not resting our starters, we may have 3 SB's.

2. We wouldn't have drafted 3 useless centres in one year.

3. Bob's big contract would have been injury astute.

4. Ugoh would never have been drafted.

5. We would not keep wasting draft picks on RBs whilst ignoring our O-Line

6. We would not waste our 2 Pro-Bowl DE's as our middle line stinks it up every year.

7. We would never have heard of Jerry Who's

8. Hayden would be on half the salary.

9. Bob would have been IR'd last season.

10. Gonzo wouldn't have.

11. Diem cut not Lilja.

12. Caldwell. Say no more.

Just saying, that's all.

Welcome back btw, good to see you.

It's easy to say all that now, retrospect is always 20/20. But how many people here were happy when we drafted 3 O-lineman, how many people here were happy when we picked up Brown and Hughes? Ugoh had the talent, he just lacked the drive, hard to pin that one on Polian. As for the IR's, how do we know that team docs believed Sanders would have healed and Gonzo wouldn't have and maybe they told Polian there is no way Gonzo is coming back and Sanders will be back? How many fans would have picked up Bethea in the 6th round? How many would have picked up Mathis in the 5th round? Who would have picked up Saturday and Brackett as undrafted rookies? There is a reason why we have GMs, fans simply can't do the job.

Polian has won Executive of the Year multiple times in the NFL and he is one of the best GMs in all of pro sports. He was successful in the CFL, successful in Buffalo, successful in Carolina and successful in Indy.

We also would have:

1. Signed every free agent who came on the market.

2. Offered Manning the vet minimum on every contract.

3. Fired all the coaches after every loss.

4. Traded for JaMarcus Russell (yes, it was suggested), Terrel Owens, Randy Moss among others.

5. Drafted Ryan Leaf.

Just sayin'.

What's with the Kolb talk? You do realize some team is going to give up a pretty penny, and high draft picks to make him a starter, right? There's no way he'd take the peanuts offered by the Colts to have him play as an Emergency-Only QB. Besides, I wouldn't trust Kolb in this system any more than our own crummy backups.

The system isn't good for "system" QB's.

This would be just about the last move the Colts would consider.

I've been seeing all this Kevin Kolb chatter, I just think that it would be the stupidest thing if we got Kolb. The guy gonna want 4.5 milion dollars to backup a QB who has NEVER MISSED A SNAP IN HIS CAREER. The guy doesn't want to backup, he wants to start. Sure you can say "What if Peyton gets injured?" Like I said, never missed a snap, and there are much better options for Kolb out there like the Cardinals, Broncos, Dolphins, 49ers, and even the Titans. Why would he come to the Colts. I would lose a ton of respect for Polian if he signs him, but he won't.

I think/hope Peyton will be ready. I just can't see a Colts game where #18 doesn't start. As for the Kolb talk, what the heck, lol?!? Pay an unproven QB who wants to be a starter 4 mil to be a back-up? About Bill listening to fans, I know a bunch of stupid people who if the management listened to them, we would be 0-16 every season. They're working as the management of one of the most successful sports franchises of the past decade. I think they know what they're doing. Now I'm not gonna say I like Caldwell as a coach, but I even heard people talk crap about Dungy, but hey, at least he smiled. Anyway, as much as I'd like to see Jon Gruden be the coach of the Indianapolis Colts, it's just not gonna happen, and Peyton will continue to be the coach behind center, and he will break all meaningful career passing records as such.

I agree, I am not sold on Kolb yet. I think Andy Reid and the Eagles have done an excellent job of hyping him up so they can trade for him. He is 3-4 as a starter, has thrown more picks than TDs...yeah, he has played in a pro offense and has NFL experience, but so does JaMarcus Russell. Not saying Kolb is as bad as JaMarcus, but I'm not sold on him.

I've never been sold on Kolb either, but like you said they did a good job preparing him and hyping him. I think, with the right coaches around him, he could be good. That's why Arizona could be good because of Whisenhunt and Fitzgerald, and the same with Miami with Sparano and Marshall. Both coaches are great at teaching the QBs.

If the Colts have to get a backup (I think they should), they should get a guy like Caleb Hanie or a Tyler Thigpen. Both guys want around 1M, and are definitely better than Painter, and are still fairly young (mid 20s).

I think Whisenhunt is a good coach. With proper coaching and a weapon like Fitz, Kolb should do well in Arizona. I personally think that's where he is headed.

Pat Devlin seems to be a solid QB. Apparently he is a smart QB with an accurate arm. I wouldn't mind seeing the Colts pick him up in place of Painter. I remember Brandstater did well in the pre-season, but he was released in favor of Painter.
