Don't Give Up On Collins Yet

Collins does nothing to help, but it is not his fault we are losing.

Was he a waste of money? Yup. That money should have been spent getting O-line players for this season, most specifically a player not named Linkenbach.

We could have used the money defensively on a corner/db not named Jacob Lacey.

In the long run, the entire D needs to be revamped as well as the O-line and ST. Yeah, pretty much the entire team.

Collins is mediocre. Painter is bad. It doesn't matter because neither is good enough to do anything with this team. The difference is Painter costs us nothing extra and we could have used that money in other positions rebuilding this team.

It would have been better to keep CJ for the money spent on Collins.

At that point, MAYBE Painter could have at least done something...but as you said, neither one will do much good, and they paid Collins, so they might as well use the better guy, since they are going to be out the money anyway.

Yes, he had a pretty bad game today, but keep in mind he's only been with the Colts for 3 weeks; he's still learning. The O-line is terrible, especially Jeff Linkenbach. He has barely anytime to throw, but he still made some nice throws today to Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. He needs time, a man can't save his football team with only 3 weeks of training. Now, stop turning your backs on him and realize that he's still got some talent, and with time and a better O-line, he could excel in this offense. THoughts?

Ok who do we blame then? Do we blame Polian for gambling on Peyton's health and waiting until week 2 of training camp to get Collins?

Collins was never going to replace Peyton. He was never going to come in and throw for 350 yards 3 tds and carry the team on his back the way Manning has done. He was brought in as a decent, veteran QB who would probably do a better job than Curtis Painter. So far his play has been average, but he is not the reason that we are losing. So I am not giving up on Collins or blaming him. I blame Bill Polian for failing completely and utterly in recent drafts, and we are now paying for that.

Average? Are you serious?

Maybe not blame anyone, it's just a really bad situation that the Colts are trying to make the best of it. Also like someone else said while Collins isn't help the other guys around him aren't helping him by dropping easy passes and the Link just being revovling door at right tackle. Like most things in the NFL this is a complex problem that you can't put all at the feet of one person.
