" Honey Badger " at the senior bowl

Recommended Posts

Honey Badger Mathieu is at the senior bowl practicing, attempting to repair his image for NFL scouts. He was quoted in saying his " honey badger days " came to an end when he messed up at LSU and would like to start over, but understands he hurt himself and put himself in this position and also understands the skepticism by NFL teams because of his off field issues in the past year an a half.

Me personaly, i think we should take a chance with him. we need secondary help and i think if anyone can set him straight and keep him there, it would be pagano and manusky. he was decent in college, and if im not mistaken was also a ST guy. doesnt hurt to have that extra returner incase another one gets hurt. Chances are he could fall down to a late 4th round pick if not well into the third day of the draft., BUT even if we have him as a nickel back, i believe he will still make our secondary better then it was these past two seasons. and the thing about this type of pick is, the NFL team who drafts him has leverage on his contract.

Like I said in the other threads, it's a low-risk high-reward pick. At the best he'll be a ball-hawking nickel corner that's a huge threat in the return game, at the least he'd be a waste of a late round pick. At of all the players available in the 4th, 5th round, he'll have the most upside.

waste of a pick

Agreed, if he wound up not being drafted, then bring him in if possible but I would rather have Rhodes, Elam or Vaccaro.  Not to mention that we still have FA, why risk the pick when we could used it for some of our holes in the line or back-ups for the line

no one is suggesting honey badger in the 1st.  How about we get Rhodes, Elam, or Vaccaro AND The Honey Badger

it would depend on the cost and what position are you proposing he play?  I don't want him as a safety and on ST we have many players that can return.

    • I won't respond the the other nonsense posted in this post because it's off-topic, but the bolded is complete and utter horse manure... He has plenty of tape of him going through 2-3 read progressions, moving safeties, holding them with his eyes while waiting for routes to develop, etc. You've clearly not watched much or any of him.
    • I’m looking forward to the XFL.  Hoping it lasts longer than the AAF did.  The AAF had all their teams pretty much in the south and none in the Midwest or Northeast.  Hopefully, the locations of the XFL teams will benefit the league.  Every XFL game is televised nationally, also, so it everyone should be able to at least watch the team they wish to follow each week.  Starts the weekend following the Super Bowl!
    • One of the wisest questions I have seen on here ever!  I totally agree.  Why would you think an older Brady would be any better behind a bad o-line?
    • The new money they get for the deal will effect the cap. As far as Hilton and funchess goes, we need both because we lack experience at that position. Funchess's injury was unfortunate, but he played well vs the chargers and we need a big body target. Hilton was putting up really good numbers before he got hurt and he's been critical to the team's success. With all the extension and players like Mack, Nelson, and Leonard that will soon get big contracts, we can't go hard in FAs. I do think Brockers fills a big void to help not only our run defense, but also keep our LBers clean. Mcdonald is sure handed and a possession target that we need along with a very good blocker.
    • One thing most forget about Aikman is he was pounded into the ground and out of the league.  I thought him and Jim Kelly were made of steel.  Guys like those two is why we have rules to protect the franchise QBs today.
