Late season moves that might make or break a good playoff team

What defines those late season moves?

Replacing Bledsoe with Brady.

Replacing Alex Smith with Kaepernick.

Replacing Cam Cameron with Jim Caldwell.

While the 3rd one may not look as ominous, it is the fact that the Ravens have become a throwing team, ala Falcons at the beginning of the year, and gained momentum due to the fact that teams really dont know the identity of the Ravens' offense yet. Now, they know, it is Flacco's team and not Ray Rice's team.

Falcons, once they put it more on Matt Ryan, at least got their first playoff game win but teams had seen enough of them over the course of this year. The Falcons' change did not come during the middle of a season.

It seems like when you have a playoff team, a tweak like this late in the season more often works out than not. Discuss?

I don't think replacing Smith with Kaepernick had much of an outcome in the way things played out. The system works well for either QB and I think they probably would have gone to the SB either way. Guess we will never know. If Kaepernick goes and balls out in New Orleans, though, well that might change the conversation...
