would you do this trade

Depends on how many holes we plug in FA. Without a 2nd round pick, I would say no, but that does have a chance to be a top 5 in 2014.

The Colts have no reason to start trading high picks.

So no, I wouldn't do this trade.

I personally would NOT trade.  My luck a guy like Clowney would actually play like one....and I would get run out of town by the Colts Forum fanatics like me  :funny:

Seriously I would play the hand I am dealt, and let Grigs do his thing....from draft to FA......to the AFL....to a playground near you....this gym rat is going to look for talent.  TY very much!!!   :colts:  :colts:  :colts:  :coltshorse:  :coltshorse:  :coltshorse: !!!!!

No,  I would not do this trade.

First,  we're building now and we don't to put this off another year.

Second,  your 'Undisclosed' 2014 pick is likely going to have to be our #1 that year too.    Still want to do that deal?

You think the Raiders don't know they may be sitting on a franchise player pick?

Besides,   suppose the Raiders pick if 3rd,  or 4th, or 5th?     The player you've traded for is now gone.    They'll be another good player there,   but it's another year down the road.

Wrong message to send to the team....

If they're getting our 2013 1st, then they are giving us a 2014 1st + another pick; not the other way around.

Draft pick interest.

Did some doctor find a way to reanimate Al Davis?  If they didn't there is no way that Oakland goes and starts to trade future 1st rounders again.  Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie is going to build the team the right way and get them back to the proud ranchise they used to be.

Only way I would give up our 1st is if the player Grigson really wanted is gone, and another team will give us their 2nd from this year and their 1st from next year's draft.

Where we are is great in some ways.

The dude you draft is getting paid pretty much squat for 4 years, and you will find a value pretty much guaranteed somewhere and luckily, the Colts have a bunch of holes/openings to take advantage. All you need is a good GM to see what the best deal is and take it. Luckily, I think we do.

If we have a great FA, plug the holes in our O-line, some help in the secondary and an extra pass rusher or two, then I would absolutely consider it. The Raiders pick is likely to be a top 10 pick possibly even top 5, which even in a weak draft class we can trade down for a lot of extra picks.

    • I agree to an extent, but knowing Ballard's history, I don't see him gambling much either.  If though for instance, if Love is their guy, and he's not projected to go until early second, I could see them going DT first IF they have a trade partner to pop back into the mid/late 1st round (17-22nd) for a QB (Love). Or they may be happy with both Love and Eason for instance and feel confident at least one is available later.   I honestly don't care as long as they don't mortgage the future.
    • Being middle of the road isn't going to be of much value in trying to get a QB, if that's even a thing (it probably should be, but don't be shocked if it's not).   I feel like we're watching a slow rolling undoing of future potential and we're kind of ending up where we were under Grigson and Pagano when they go fired, for different reasons. They had Luck but a bottom barrel roster. Ballard and Reich have a passable roster (when healthy) but QB issues. Both are going to result in hovering around 8-8 and that's no mans land when it comes to fixing big issues through the top of the draft.
    • My insights were correct! I knew he was getting over 300 million!
    • Well put "HarryTheCat", definitely below avg.
    • There's only 10% difference in hit rate between 2nd and 3rd round TEs. And 3rd through 5th all have similar hit rates. Given well rounded TEs have arguably the 2nd steepest learning curve (QB is first) when transitioning to the NFL, early impact TEs are pretty rare (unless they are limited to receiving and not so much blocking). In short, if you're not going 1st round for TE (which teams rarely do), rounds 3-5 are just fine.   I also doubt the FO sees TE as dire right now (enough to use a second). They just locked up Doyle, and MAC was improving and tracking well last year before his regression (really lack of targets, not his regression) this year. And, probably most important, TE is a devalued position (similar to LB), are are one of the best values in FA. That plus the steep learning curve (longer development) make FA TEs more attractive than drafting an early TE.   In terms of talent, this isn't a great class for top end TE talent anyway. I don't see any TEs projected in the first round. Only 2 that might go in the 2nd, but I'd actually bet on only 1 going mid to late 2nd. Then there are 2-4 that will go 3rd or 4th. There are several hidden gem type that could go 4-6 IMO.
