Espn To Retain 'monday Night Football' Through 2021

The agreement includes 17 Monday games a season through 2021 and coverage of the Pro Bowl and NFL draft, along with the option to carry a wild-card playoff game.

i wonder what the bold part means. i am guessing it would be up to abc (espn's parent) whether the game is on espn or abc. it's hard to imagine they could reach a wider audience on cabl. maybe the can simulcast it

no shocker here, but the wildcard games are usually shown on fox or cbs.

maybe if the matchup is something like steelers/ravens or pats/jets espn can decide if they want it?

seems kinda generic with the way they word it, i'm interested to see how that works.

I find it hard to believe FOX or CBS would let a wild card game go to another network. Personally I think ESPN's Monday night football coverage is a pile of nonsense!!

abc has had broadcast rights to wildcard games for as long as i can remember. they do two, and the others fall to their respective networks
