CHARTS ARE SHOWN AS LISTS HERE- READ WEBSITE / Link at bottom FOR EASIER APPEARANCE & UNDERSTANDING & few things left out on reasoning

Stampede Blue , Not Big Blue a different editor gives analysis, fdrops Diem & Bullit, notes who we resign and has money left for a WR , Safety, Others he predicts we will try & get

.

There is an introductory explanation of new rules based on &other bits & pieces I left out

the 53 man roster for Week 1, including Colt Free Agents they should re-sign, other Free Agents they should sign (including some rookies), and attempted my best guess at what those deals would look like. I'll explain a little more my methodology after the jump. All salary data came from Spotrac, which is an excellent site for salary data.

Let's jump in...

Money used is totally explained , other charts like current signed players and there cost are discussed

Finally he decides

How will the Colts spend that money that they have left?

Free Agents

First Last * 2011 Salary 2011 Bonus Years $ (Mill)

Adam Vinatieri K 1,200,000 1 1.2

Joseph Addai RB 2,750,000 4,000,000 4 20

Antonio Johnson DT 1,300,000 450,000 3 5.5

Charlie Johnson OL 1,250,000 750,000 3 5.5

Peyton Manning QB 10,350,000 25,000,000 5 110

Jamie Silva DB 500,000 1 0.45

Eric Foster DT 700,000 300,000 3 3

Free Agent DB 2,400,000 1,000,000 4 15

Free Agent DE 320,000 Rookie

Free Agent LB 450,000 2nd Year

Free Agent OL 335,000 Rookie

Free Agent QB 335,000 Rookie

Free Agent WR 1,750,000 600,000 2 4.5

Total 23,640,000 32,100,000

I have the Colts resigning six other former players besides Manning, including Joseph Addai, both of the Johnsons, Eric Foster (stay thirsty), Jamie Silva (I like his special teams play despite coming off the injury), and Adam Vinatieri on a one year deal.

Now need 6 more spots As you see, I don't have names next to the positions, but I think those are the positions the Colts will go after. The Defensive Back is a Safety, and that should be enough to get a good player to play with Antoine Bethea. The Wide Receiver's salary was made with one player in mind: Plaxico Burress. I have to think that would be a deal Burress would take in a heartbeat, and it wouldn't kill the Colts. I don't have much heartburn if that money goes to the DL, LB, or the OL, but I think it is best used on a toy for Manning. I could see a couple of those other Free Agent spots given to Colts Free Agents, or obviously undrafted rookies.

So where does this leave the salary at for the Colts? $115,645,000, giving the Colts a little over $4 Million to work with, if they so choose. I actually think they won't go all the way to the cap, due to expiring contracts after this season.

As a finale, here's my full 53 man roster, with 2011 cap hit included.

haha if only he could...

On a topic-related note, Kelvin Hayden is overpaid

agreed, article wavers a lot on Hayden, gives him 1 more year to prove himself & if doesn't cuts him next year

Not sure about a cut but renegotiate that pay, as soon as he got it his performance dwindled

If Addai is brought back at 6.75M front office drug testing needs to be included in the CBA. Bank the 555K set aside for Mike Hart because he won't make the team. The team won't spend 2.35M on a FA wideout. And.....if the 3.2M FA DB is for Bullitt, he's stoked for the 600% payraise.

Bullitt isn't mentioned as being brought back, its for unknown DB free agent most assuredly a diff safety

& the WR is specific for Plexico Buress, the only non colt free agent named in the article

Once again all charts are easier to read in article, In preview they look great but dont post the same

I understand. But the several I mentioned are problems/liabilities for different reasons. There's no way we bring in PB, either....a guy in jail for a couple years that's older than Reggie & can't stretch the field. No thanks.

after this time period he would have to demonstrate speed or route running ability & catch ability, Only reason I think stampede blue is saying it is he was at 1 time a go to big play TD receiver and has DUNGY pushing / mentoring him to get back into football as he did Vick

Yes others have problems & injury history

a three day time period to lock up & sign ones own Free agents may push teams to do so as once regular free agency hits will be like the wild west and u never can tell by time u call someone if even will be available so may want to sign who u know & can first to insure u g have a position filled

Nobody ever in/around football that I respect more than Dungy. But....when it comes to taking action I'll bet dollars to doughnuts the Colts don't sign PB. I think he'll be a good possession guy for someone after he gets back up to game speed/condition, but that's not a need we have to fill & even if the team decides to get backup it will most likely be a less costly UFA or FA. We'll see.

I'll take a look at the link in a second, but a quick question:

What is the Colts' cap for 2011 at this very moment, without Peyton and other free agents?

The cap for 2011 is going to be $120 million, with $3 million additional.

How much room do the Colts have?

    • No.   You weren’t.   If you were the least bit sincere, we’d be having these conversations in private.  But you’ve repeatedly ignored my efforts to do that.  Your call.      Then you avoid me until I’m in an uncomfortable conversation with another poster.   You use that awkward moment as an excuse for you to come in with some sincere friendly advice.   The problem is, you’re neither sincere, nor friendly.  And you’ve been doing this for months now.  This is not new.   The pattern is clear and obvious.     And the shame of it all is that even with our different views on Ballard we have enough in common that we should be friendly.  Maybe not friends, but friendly.  You wouldn’t need to address me as “Sir.”    “Good deed going unpunished”.  You flatter yourself.     But your actions speak much louder than your words.   There’s no reason for me to trust you.  And here we are.  A real shame.
    • In a year when the Colts were in serious need of a QB and in position to draft one, Ballard came up in front of the media 3 days before the draft and straight up said something to the effect of "That guy everybody in media is talking about(Levis), we are not taking him". I don't know why you think the Colts are trying to throw us off the scent this year specifically. They are not trying to give us away the pick(thus the vagueness), but I also don't really think they are trying to mislead anybody. This usually becomes specifically apparent in retrospect after the draft when you look back at a lot of those quotes in the videos they release pre-draft... and they were talking precisely about players we ended up drafting, which they reveal in the post-draft video by extending some of those quotes(they did that with AR last year for example).    And about why people are doing it(guessing who they are talking about) - because it is fun. Nobody has the illusion that we will be right in our guesses 100% of the time... or anywhere close really... but it's still fun. And it's part of why the Colts release those videos with those quotes - to create engagement with the fanbase... part of which, and the entirety of which that 70 pages thread and whole board is about in the offseason. is to guess who the Colts might take and how they might feel about specific prospects.
    • Sir, I was just trying to help you out. No good deed goes unpunished!
    • Not the least bit surprised to hear from you at this moment.   You see me in an uncomfortable conversation (with a moderator no less) and you seize the moment to take a shot at me.  And you try to act like you’re giving me a sincere explanation of what you’re doing.   Like you have an ounce of credibility with me.      This is not the first time you’ve done this.  While I may not be surprised, I’m certainly disappointed.
