I'll worry about when Adam retires or is released from the the last year of his contract. I'll say this as hard as some are trying to get Adam out the door this new kicker better be perfect and better be the key to us winning Super Bowls because if you listen to some talk people make it seem like Adam is the guy holding us back.

AV will probably stay, I know a little while ago people were worried about him becoming a cap casualty because his final year hit is big for a kicker, but that was before we cut half our roster a few months back. After that, I don't know, Pat might be a common answer but I've heard serious concerns about his accuracy.

Oh there is always a college kid or two that comes along that is worth taking a look at so I am not sure if it's a poistion we need to address unless Adam isn't coming back because odds are if he's worth having and Adam's on the roster we aren't going to have any place to stash him because he would be a waste of a practice squad spot let alone a roster spot because Pat is as good as any kicker in the NFL at doing kickoffs. About the only way we could stash him would be for him to go on IR which he would have to be "hurt" to do.

I like Pat a lot, but go back and look at his college stats, not too impressive, he's barley made extra points in the preseason. Adam Vinatieri has made field goals to win super bowls. Not everyday do you have a kicker that can make winning kicks consistently every year, look at the vikings game this year, and what should have been the Jags game also. Plus as stated, not all rookie college kickers coming out are going to be the next big thing. A 2 million dollar cap hit wont keep us from getting to the super bowl.

former Purdue kicker Carson Wiggs is pretty solid. He was picked up by the Seahawks but I don' believe he made the 53 man roster over Hauschka.

Maybe if AV retires, we can give him a look.

No appealing kickers coming out of college. Dustin Hopkins is the best guy, but he missed two chip shots a couple of weeks ago.

Caled Sturgis K out of Flordia is not bad. Can make 50+ yard field goals. But i would still like to stick with AV still. Gives us the best chance to win games when kicking.
