Jacoby best interest are to start next season and improve and earn himself a possible starting job somewhere else if we draft a QB and he sits a year. Â I think we need to slow down on us drafting the future. We have no idea what ballard is thinking or if any of these QB will do well on interviews or on the whiteboard when they are asked to break down plays. Heck Burrow could end up being really bad when it comes to interviews. Ballard might decide to give Jacoby another year since so many weird things happened this year.

Whoever we draft, chances are he won't start next year. IMO if we draft a QB, Brissett will be the overwhelming favorite to start the season as our starter. I would be kind of disappointed if Ballard missed on the best QB talent in the draft and settled for the 3d round types. Those picks are wild shots and have very low success rate for QBs. First-to-early second is the range where you can say the GM is drafting a QB because he sees him as a potential franchise QB. Anything past that IMO, you are drafting more backups or wildcards or injury insurance QBs...  If Ballard waits for round 3 to address QB this should tell you enough about the level of talent he thinks he's getting. He has no problem drafting players he values extremely high much higher than the consensus(Leonard, Okereke, Willis) if he thinks they have the talent. I can only imagine how much less likely he will be to fool around with the QB position and let a player who he really likes fall to round 3 for example. IMO if he doesn't draft a QB early, he probably hasn't given up on Brissett... or the QB he really liked got taken before our pick.  Â

The questions are only going to get harder. I think the question was a little harsh, but not unfounded. The contract they gave him screamed audition. Basically it was a one year extension with a raise. -

I would love to have JB stay as backup, but I think you are right. If we draft a QB, the rook doesn't need "ghosts" in the locker room either. JB probably wants to go somewhere where he can compete, just not sure where that would be. He'd be best going somewhere with a different system IMO.   I really don't want to keep Hoyer though. Unless he's some savant at teaching and preparing for Ds, just not sure of his upside. I wouldn't mind taking a shot at Eli for backup. Or hire him to replace Marcus Brady. Not to impressed with him given we've not seen a lot of improvements with JB. -

If it gets to the point where Ballard and Reich decide they don't believe in JB anymore, then we need to draft a QB in round 1 and see what Kelly has.
