Nice Article on Peyton coming out in ESPN Mag. Sept. 3.(merge)

I've heard of "my way or the highway." I've heard of "the Patriot Way." And now, "the Manning way"...""It's like he started looking at the playbook from an airplane...he's looking at everything through a microscope. And everyone knows that the guys who can keep up with him in the position meetings are the ones who are going to get the calls from him come game time...If you aren't precise, he'll find someone who is...His frustration comes from knowing that the guy who wasn't in the right place at the right time knows better. He knows they know better, because they've worked together on that same play a couple of hundred times in practice and in the tape room...[CB Tracy Porter] "You tell me what I did wrong on that first play and I'll tell you what you did wrong on that next play. That's the only way we're going to get better. Deal?"

This is why I refer to Peyton as Yoda. He is a master manipulator at the line of scrimmage who knows what the opposing secondary is going to do before they even attempt to implement and execute it on the field. Never underestimate the power of sheer genius through countless hours of repetition, diligence, and trust.

This is what Yoda always brings to the table week in week out no exceptions.:goat:

Great article Gramz! Thank you for reminding us all what GREATNESS really looks like and feels like.

exactalactly. we colt fans know about this all too well. if i were a bronco fan, i'd purchase & save the edition of the magazine

True it may be a collectible when he goes into the HOF someday. I may get one to put with the rest of his things I have because it's still part of his career which I will still follow. I now have 2 teams to follow Colts first and then Broncos.

"The veteran safety and the Canton-bound cornerback share 23 years of NFL experience and have a combined 62 career interceptions. Adams has played for the Browns and 49ers, Bailey for the Redskins, and now they're together on the Broncos. Their assignment during this particular session of minicamp was simple -- make the afternoon of 25-year-old receiver Eric Decker as miserable as possible.

"We knew what was coming," Adams recalls. "We knew the play. We knew the route. We knew where the ball was going, and we were both there when it got there. What happened next was ... it wasn't human. It was our introduction to Peyton Manning."

Great article. I saw quite a few things I never have before. The perspective from vet DBs and receivers about what it's like to deal with him are priceless. We've gotten platitudes from them in the past, but not details I don't think. Some of the comments about his Colts days were unusual as well.

In other words, "fluff" implies that the writer spent ten minutes on it and very little thought. This was well researched and written.

I'd like to see some of these 'notebooks' they're talling about.....

had you ever heard the theory of the 'third year' before?

I had not..

okay maybe fluff was the wrong word. what i meant was the article illustrates manning in a way we are all well aware of. yeah there were a few nuggets beyond the stuff we already knew. but fluff isn't necessarily bad if it is well put together

No. The article sounded like he GAVE one to a reporter (whether this writer or not I don't quite get). What particularly stuck me was the details about what he teaches WRs about their own jobs in a logical progression over time. It's one thing to say (like 1,000 prior articles) that he practices endlessly until they get their timing down. It's another thing to say that he teaches them things that one would think the WR coach would be in charge of. Actually their college WR coach. It sounds like he is personally involved in throwing away the books and re-teaching them better. Anyone want to take another crack at a thread concerning whether a great QB is made by his WRs, or whether he makes them?

Southwest pointed this quote out, but I can picture James Earl Jones saying it in a movie.

As he walked off the field, the defensive back felt a hand on his shoulder. It was the quarterback, who said: "You tell me what I did wrong on that first play and I'll tell you what you did wrong on that next play. That's the only way we're going to get better. Deal?"

Months later, Porter still shakes his head while telling the story. "Dang right, that was a deal," he says. "He wants me to be better so he can be better. And he wants to be better to help me get better. I'll follow a man like that into any game, anywhere, any way."

I love that line: ""It's like he started looking at the playbook from an airplane." Prodigies always view the ordinary from an extraordinary perspective just Albert Einstein viewed atoms or Alexander Graham Bell viewed the transfer of sound waves over long distances. With Peyton, it's like playing multilayered chess in the course of a fraction of a second. King me. Point, set, match. Thank you for playing. I needed to break a sweat today. haha:thmup::td:

http://espn.go.com/n...suit-perfection

short excerpt:

Welcome to the new world of the Denver Broncos. It's a place where veterans and rookies alike are becoming indoctrinated into the Manning Way. Where the urban legends of PlayStation passes and all-night film study are suddenly transforming into reality. Where an entire organization is being pushed out of its option-running, wobbly-pass-catching, plays-drawn-in-the-dirt ways and thrown into the up-at-dawn play-action, check-down, adjust-your-footwork deep end.

This just in: They love it.

Sorry, I double posted this article. What a joy to read it.

I want Peyton to be the coach of the Broncos when he's done. Sorry folks, but I'm not returning him to Indy :)

haha BAB. I can't say that I blame you on that one my friend. Once a person has seen Greatness up close and personal, they never wanna let go do they?

Nice try though. Favorite sons always return home to where their NFL career started. :colts:

You know, Denver is mighty nice. Coloradans are already showing him a LOT of love... You never know. haha

In all seriousness, though, I'm so grateful he chose us.

This quote made me jump in my chair:

When pushed about his two new young deep threats, he smiles and adds: "Yeah, I might be pushing them a bit more. But only because I see their potential. It's scary."

I like scary!

I have relatives that live in Denver and yes, you do have a beautiful state no question. Yes, anything is indeed possible. If #18 wins 2 SB rings in Denver, relocation is a distinct possibility even I can't refute that.

I love Sam Elliot's voice in this Coors commercial too.

SW1-

I cannot claim Colorado "my" state as I live in Cali, but these videos made me want to go visit my in-laws and drink a cold one (no, not Coors!).

I've got relatives in Bakersfield, CA too. Another gorgeous state as well. Drink whatever your heart desires BayAreaBronco. I just like Sam Elliot's voice and the Rocky Mountain tie in in that commercial that's all.

In honor of your state BayAreaBronco, here is "Hotel California" by the Eagles LIVE...

My favorite version of this song... I love it when groups/people play acoustic versions live.

Glad you saw it... you were actually one of the people I had in mind when I posted. I "knew" you'd enjoy ;)

Thank you. Please keep them coming! :)

u should hear this album on a breathtaking 5.1 audio system with either the suuround 5.1 hybrid SACD or the surround 5.1 DVD AUDIO ( no longer made & I am fortunate to have , with some nice visuals )

I Just cant believe what i spent to put in bedroom with what i have already in living room , but its better than falling off a coach just by shifting weight Plus with all moms issues, besides mine, and now having to hire wheel chair van for her Dr specialists and going to visit her in assisted living I hardly am free to use it

Thankfully still have her through & that's whats important
