  1. Forcing OT on the road against a very good Chargers team is definitely not a bad way to start the year off, considering we could have won had we eliminated at least one of the bad things that went against us (2 penalties that led to TDs and Adam's missed kicks).  A lot of encouraging things yesterday, O line looked great and Marlon had a phenomenal game.  TY is still TY.  Brissett made throws when in mattered, protected the ball, and was efficient.

Big negative from this game outside Adam was the run defense.  Need to do better up front against the run.  We got good pash rush from Rivers, but we were missing Lewis and Sheard badly on rush D.

We got Tennesse, Oakland, and Atlanta on deck.  All are winnable games.  Clean up mistakes and build on the positives and take it one game at a time.  Our biggest test will be Sunday Night vs KC.

  2. I think I have come to terms with him being retired, but then again, I had his hard count cadences stuck in my head this morning for whatever reason so maybe I am not over it fully yet.

I think Andrew really wanted to play this year, but I think his mental state got the better of him as the season got closer and wanted to get out before he thought it might have been too late.  I just think he didn't feel comfortable talking about his mental health with the game and with his press conference being rushed he didn't feel comfortable giving us all of the reasons why he left.

As a fan, it's frustrating to see a young star leave when the team is finally ran well from an organizational level and with an abundance of young talent.  But if it is truly his mental health, I am glad he is stepping away so he can re-gain a grip on that.  Part of me thinks as well that he might have feared having worse injuries down the road.  I always hope a player can walk away while they still can, rather than being carried away like players such as Favre and Theismann (I know Favre was up in age, but getting knocked out on your final snap is not the way to go out).

Maybe someday Luck will come forward and tell us.  But until then, I wish him the best in the next chapter of his life.

Why go through the trouble?  Chad Kelly will take in interm role as backup until he takes the mantle from Brissett.

Kelly is suspended the first two games so he'll be on the Reserve/Suspended list.  They'll need somebody their for at least two games in case Brissett gets hurt.

It's quite possible we lose @ LAC and other games against division opponents, but I don't think this type of result is out of the question.  I still think the Colts have the most complete team in the division on both sides of the ball.  Jacoby is not playing with the same team as he was in 2017.  In fact, only 25 of those players from 2017 (not including Jacoby) are still on the team, but that also includes players that were on IR (Kelly, Hooker, Desir, Hogan) and the PS (Walker, Alie-Cox.  Really only about 10 returning starters from 2017 if you don't count special teams.  Brissett has had time to learn under both Brady and Luck and has a whole season and two training camps in Reich's offense.  I think 10 wins is a realistic goal.  If it doesn't happen, we'll have to figure out what next.  But for now, let's have faith in Jacoby.  He can be a really good QB if he sharpens his accuracy and decision making.  He certainly has the arm to be a good QB.

  5. Does anyone think it is still a possibility we bring Ajayi in to see what he can do?  I think Wilkins and Williams will be fine, but if for some reason they can't play by Week 1, we would have just Mack and Hines, and Hines isn't really a runner but more of a receiving back.

Based off what I saw against the Bills last night.

    Offense (24)

    QB: Luck, Brissett
    RB: Mack, Hines, Wilkins, Williams
WR: Hilton, Funchess, Campbell, Cain, Fountain, Rogers
    TE; Doyle, Ebron, Alie-Cox
OL: Castonzo, Nelson, Kelly, Glowinski, Smith, Haeg, Boehm, Andrews, Barton

    Defense (26)
    DE: Sheard, Muhammed, Turay, Phillips

DT: Autry, Hunt, Lewis, Stewart, Ward
    OLB: Leonard, Banogu,  Adams,

    MLB: Walker, Okereke, Speed
CB: Desir, Moore, Wilson, Ya-Sin, Tell, Milton
S: Hooker, Geathers, Willis, Farley, Odum

    Special Teams (3)
    K: Vinatieri

    P: Sanchez

    LS: Rhodes

    Practice Squad (10)

    RB D'Onta Foreman

    TE Hale Hentges

    T Antonio Garcia

    DE Gerri Green

    LB Skai Moore

    WR Penny Hart

    RB Aca'Cedric Ware

    WR Krishawn Hogan

    K Cole Hedlund

    DT Sterling Shippy

    Reserve/Suspended

    QB Chad Kelly

    Notes:

    - I liked what I saw from Chad Kelly, but I don't know if they would keep 3 QBs on the active roster.  He's suspended the first two games of the season so they will have to make that decision by Week 3.  I do think he deserves a spot on the Practice Squad.

    - I need to see some actual game play from Foreman before I put him on the 53.

    - Nate Hairston has an uphill battle to make this team.  I think they would favor Tell for his athleticism and Milton for his special teams ability.

    - Carroll Phillips played really well yesterday.  I can see him making the team if he keeps up his level of play.

    - Fountain impressed me yesterday and so far has earned a spot on the 53.  I think Rogers stays for now but if Cain and Fountain are producing, Rogers could be cut if they want to only keep 5 WRs.

    - The backup offensive lineman did not impress me.  Maybe Ballard will get a waiver-wire pickup to improve the reserve O-Line.

    - I thought Speed played a good game and I think he can contribute on defense this year

I must be losing it, since I forgot Houston.  Milton does not make the 53 then with Houston there.
