If we ship out anybody it's probably a WR or CB. He says OL too but I don't think we have the depth to be trading any OL away. In fact, I'd think we'd potentially be trying to get OL depth in return. That or a late round pick.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Rogers , Hairston, or Collins got traded

You still miss the mark and you reply without comprehension.....
Follow. The. Bouncing. Ball.
If you ran a play last year that is ALREADY on film why not run it in preseason to see if your newer/younger guys can execute said play.
I've clearly stated throughout this entire thread to withhold the new wrinkles.....
For the record there were zero rookies at WR with the 1's......Pascal (3rd year in nfl), Rogers (4th year in nfl), Johnson (4th year in nfl) and Funchess (5th year in nfl).....
Actually I don’t believe I missed the mark, I just think you’re failing to understand the point being made here. The 1’s were on the field for 2-3 series to knock the rust off. They saw 12-15 plays at most offensively. You’re arguing as to why the coaching staff chose to call “vanilla plays” I along with several other forum members have reiterated the same thing. For the sake of you arguing your point it just seems as if you’re the one that can’t comprehend why which is fine. Although there weren’t many rookies playing at WR outside of Dulin, you still have other players at other positions on the field. There are 11 men on the field at all times my friend. So yea there were rookies at WR , OL and TE. It doesn’t make sense to call an exotic play for the sake of seeing if they can “execute” it in a first preseason game. I would suggest you go re-watch the game, you would notice that they ran the same plays whenever a different set of guys saw the field. They were clearly evaluating them.

I took the time out to re-watch the tape from yesterday and listen this kid can flat out FLY. He looks like a Leonard clone and was very impressive his his first live game as a Colt. He made a few bone head moves but that’s to be expected as a rookie. Overall the good outweighed the bad. He showed Amazing lateral movement and agility to get from sideline to sideline. He has track speed and acceleration is off the charts. He was almost always in the mix of the play with a tackle or assist. I was really encouraged and surprised. I think Speed is going to a dawg here in Indy.

He was known as a big time pass rusher in college.
Most definitely I watched his tape, it didn’t translate in his first year , but he seems to be putting it all together now. And it also looks like he is moving much faster now.

I don't know if Luck is making the injury worse with the reps, if he's relatively ok, or if I'm getting played. Truly dumbfounded right now.
He’s sitting out for the next 3 practices he hasn’t had any reps in about a week or so if I remember correctly.

Grover Stewart is starting to pick things up as well.
I hope he’s under Autry’s wing , he seemed to get a lot of penetration on a few plays I was very happy about that.

I have to say I thought he really held his own last night and played pretty well. Anyone else think so too?
Willis looked decent I thought his play was kinda masked by playing with the 1’s. I would have liked to see him play some more with the 2s and 3s. I was more impressed by Speed boy can he fly. He looked like Darius Leonard 2.0 out there.

Exotic wasn't mentioned. Normal calls from last year that were on tape already. Why not see if Pascal can execute those routes? Or Cain? Or Johnson? Tough to "evaluate" when you're going 3 and out because you call vanilla plays.
Less thinking? Play faster? Bogus.....they should know the playbook already.
So I’m assuming you missed where they mentioned they are going to build and install more from what they did last year? I have several friends and family members who play in the NFL I’ve seen their playbooks, believe me when I tell you to learn not only your assignment but everyone else’s assignments on each and every play is not a simple and easy task ESPECIALLY as a rookie. So no its not bogus.

So you're saying that none of those guys that lined up with the first team were incapable of processing the playbook? You may need to rethink that thought process.....
Im speaking SPECIFICALLY, in regards to the rookies and new vets brought in. Also You do realize the starters were in for all of 3 series? Why would they throw some exotic play calling when the starters were in on limited snaps, That’s pointless. Once again the preseason is for evaluating your guys. Which is why the play calling was Vanilla it requires LESS thinking and your guys can play faster.

Based off what I saw against the Bills last night.
Offense (24)
QB: Luck, Brissett
RB: Mack, Hines, Wilkins, Williams
WR: Hilton, Funchess, Campbell, Cain, Fountain, Rogers
TE; Doyle, Ebron, Alie-Cox
OL: Castonzo, Nelson, Kelly, Glowinski, Smith, Haeg, Boehm, Andrews, Barton
Defense (26)
DE: Sheard, Muhammed, Turay, PhillipsDT: Autry, Hunt, Lewis, Stewart, Ward
OLB: Leonard, Banogu, Adams,MLB: Walker, Okereke, Speed
CB: Desir, Moore, Wilson, Ya-Sin, Tell, Milton
S: Hooker, Geathers, Willis, Farley, OdumSpecial Teams (3)
K: VinatieriP: Sanchez
LS: Rhodes
Practice Squad (10)
RB D'Onta Foreman
TE Hale Hentges
T Antonio Garcia
DE Gerri Green
LB Skai Moore
WR Penny Hart
RB Aca'Cedric Ware
WR Krishawn Hogan
K Cole Hedlund
DT Sterling Shippy
Reserve/Suspended
QB Chad Kelly
Notes:
- I liked what I saw from Chad Kelly, but I don't know if they would keep 3 QBs on the active roster. He's suspended the first two games of the season so they will have to make that decision by Week 3. I do think he deserves a spot on the Practice Squad.
- I need to see some actual game play from Foreman before I put him on the 53.
- Nate Hairston has an uphill battle to make this team. I think they would favor Tell for his athleticism and Milton for his special teams ability.
- Carroll Phillips played really well yesterday. I can see him making the team if he keeps up his level of play.
- Fountain impressed me yesterday and so far has earned a spot on the 53. I think Rogers stays for now but if Cain and Fountain are producing, Rogers could be cut if they want to only keep 5 WRs.
- The backup offensive lineman did not impress me. Maybe Ballard will get a waiver-wire pickup to improve the reserve O-Line.
- I thought Speed played a good game and I think he can contribute on defense this year
You forgot Houston lol and for some odd reason I feel like they only carry 5 WR not 6 I think it’s going to be between fountain and Cain who have both been having good camps. I think they carry one less OL because of some of those guys flexibility to play multiple positions if needed and one more TE, I foresee Hentges making the final 53.

Bugs the crap out of me. You have your first stringers out there, execute non-vanilla plays for crying out loud.
I'm not advocating breaking out year two wrinkles but what's wrong with plays that we ran last year that are already on tape.
How can they possibly evaluate game day tape with 76 3 and outs......?
Because in game situations require players to make reads even on offense. Some of those guys don’t have the ability to process that mentally because they don’t have the playbook completely down. It’s also the preseason for crying out loud lol, you’re trying to get a look at how guys perform their focus is not on how to win the game. If it were they would have gam planned.

Traditional slot WRs and APBs have a lot in common. A lot of short to intermediate routes in the middle of the field. A lot of APBs in college end up being slot WRs.
If you think Rogers stats are underwhelming, you must really think bad of Pascal. Grant, and Inman.
Grant was bought in to be a number 2 WR, I can’t give a real opinion on his season because he was significantly injured for a majority of it.
-
Interesting statistics, I find it odd how close Hines and Rogers are in receiving yards and other categories. Rogers statistics seem very underwhelming.

Was not expecting this.
Like the move he’s young, and if he can return to form this is a good look for the organization. I believe he can be stashed in the Practice Squad.

No, it doesn't. He had an MRI, but they said they don't know yet whether he needs surgery or not. Ot sounds like the MRI revealed the nature of the injury, but they need time to determine the best kind of treatment.
So, of course we hope he'll be ready by week1, but as much as we know at the moment, it can be anywhere between a few weeks and an IR designated to return.
If it was something much more serious news would have broken. Every other injury they’ve been transparent about.

The article specifically states that, "...Sheard has had an MRI."
If he’s had an MRI and we haven’t heard any negative news my argument still stands.

Based on what?
So then on what were you basing your belief that he'll be ready by week 1?
If they thought that the injury was that severe he would’ve had an MRI by now and we would have heard something already. They just said he will miss some time, I take that as he will miss preseason and be ready by week 1.

What is the exact nature of the injury? Was it a tear? Sprain? Muscle pull? What was the timeline the doctors gave?
He hasn’t had an MRI as of yet

Anyone know if Shakial Taylor has beef with Parris? I like the attitude hes bringing to try to make the team, but its like hes head hunting and Parris is his only prey. Much props to Parris in not retaliating though. Most people would be upset with that after it happened on more then one occasion.
I don’t recall them playing each other in college, so it’s hard to say if they have legitimate beef but the targeting has to stop imo.

I believe he’ll be ready by week 1 I don’t think the injury will keep him out of regular season activities.

It looks like he might already be ahead of Farley.
If i remember correctly Farley is still being worked back in, remember he sustained that injury that forced him to be IR’d. But I meant as far as making the roster I believe he’ll be a lock over Kindred.

Odum has a good shot at beating out Farley as our 3rd safety. That said, Odum will get a lot of snaps as it is a long season.
He won’t beat out Farley maybe Kindred but not Farley
Jalen Collins struggling ?

He’s made plays and he’s had some plays made on him. I don’t think he’s losing as many battles as we think. All we hear are the negatives which end up being positives for the WR that he are matched up with.
