  1. It's not a training camp fight, though.  It happened in the locker room, if I understand the situation correctly.  It's not like they were going at it hard on the field and just got really aggressive and played after the whistle.  This was a situation where one guy walks into a locker room and the other guy sucker punches him over a money dispute

The minute you open your mouth or put a finger in another mans face is the moment a punch is excluded from being referred to as a sucker punch.

Geno got exactly what he deserved in this instance.

  2. How does Deflategate fit into there mission?  Also, there seems to be a statement missing how their economics professors are qualified as experts in the Ideal Gas Law.  If the AEI considers Deflategate to be a "most important issues of the day", then they really need to re-read their mission statement.

They took a break from denying global warming and selling out to their right-wing investors to take an interest in the NFL.

  3. True...how could I forget about that? Oh...except that you're wrong. Kraft didn't 'give' it to him. That was the pc explanation for what happened. If Kraft was going to gift him a ring, it would have said 'Putin' on the side, not 'Kraft'.

Hanging around this place has killed your sense of humor.

  4. Yeah that must be it!

    No.

It's weird because he wasn't a member of the team in any capacity. It is a nice gesture, sure...just unusual. Plenty of teams in plenty of sports have that type of player, and they aren't just given a ring when the team wins the championship after they left. It's not worth a snide comment, I just think it's unusual.

Please. Kraft gave one to Putin and he never even played the game.

  5. Where was management in 2009 when the city near-rioted over their refusal to listen to fans? Yet somehow, 2 years later they had a change of heart and took the fans advice.. for once. I know how hard it is for Texan fans to see their legend catching passes from the "best QB he has ever played with" but please, do your health a favor and lay off the salt.

  6. I listened to it live and soon as he said he was driving through Indiana and was from foxborough I knew it was a prank.....and then made it even more obvious with the accent. I can't believe anyone fell for it. But Dakich is a massive tool anyway. Not the first time he has been pranked.

Yeah, I was surprised your radio guy didn't pick up on it as Christian was being really obvious with the accent and saying he was from Foxboro. Christian is a tool as well. All these former Pats players only have jobs in our media because of Brady and Bill. lol.

BTW, like the shortened screen name. It has a certain pizazz. Maybe I should go with AMF? The "football" part is getting lame I think.

He did pick up on it. Listen to the longer version on the second link http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/christian-fauria-tried-prank-call-dan-dakich-didnt-go-well.html

He even calls WEEEEE..EEE...E..E...E, EI out.

And just to note, I don't even mind the pranking. It could have done with more humor.. But whatever. Colts fans and personalities have been hearing what Christian was saying all week non stop and Dakich like many others are just short of patience with it by now.

  7. Sliding in itself is called as a penalty.

I think it was Austin Collie who was called on it for us a few years ago.. And in his case there was no post slide celebration. He was flagged for the slide.

The NFL screwed up on this one. They should have never given any credence to the flag being on the prayer cause it wasn't. He was flagged on the slide, as they do and should have done in that situation. If I'm that official, I'm mad at the NFL right now. Instead of backing up their own rule, they panicked and basically called the man a bigot.

Personally, I think they should just get rid of the rule - But I like to see a little personality from the guys so celebrations don't bother me.

  8. I think it is always easy to say this when it is not YOUR team. I know I was really upset when Wilfork was having his issues with the Pats FO this past off-season and his reasons were legit as well. It is what it is. A fan by definition - fanatic - is not always rational.

Same attitude I had with Peyton. Hated to see him go. Only difference is it was the decision of the team, not Manning himself. Only thing I was saying in that post is for Texan fans to have a little perspective and hopefully not hold this against someone who has been Amazing for that team and community. Not ripping Qwiz at all for speaking with emotion, I get it.

  9. NFL stars seldom get honored at the alma mater until they prove themselves at the next level VL. All this really means is that RG3 gave Baylor a $1,000,000 donation IMO.

Yes, that last sentence is mere speculation on my part, but it happens quite frequently. The money in exchange for a public display of idol worship in the form of a statue.

You're exactly right. All he did for Baylor was sell merchandise. TV time. Attract better recruits (To further his value past his own time). Except, your million dollar estimate is probably quite low.

  10. You realize that he waited till after the Draft to voice his sentiments. He wanted a quarterback, it has nothing to do with the regime. Watt, Cushing, and others have come out and applauded BOB and the direction he's taking the team.

Cushing and Watt have time to see things develop. Andre doesn't. Savage, if he is the guy, is a project that may pay dues in a couple years. If he's not the guy, the Texans will be looking for a QB in the draft again next year. Which again, means a couple years out at best.

I don't like that Andre has been so vocal to the media about this and my guess is he feels it's the only way to put pressure on the FO to force a trade.. Rough for Texan fans, for sure. But it would be way worse for fans to turn on him - This is between him and the FO and has nothing to do with fans. You can be a fan until the day you die, you can only play the game for 15 years (ish). AJ isn't a Houston native, he's been more than loyal to the team for nearly his entire career and now he wants an opportunity to chase a dream that the Texans can't give him. You guys really should wish him well, thank him and in 5 years welcome him home.

Calling him a cancer and saying things like 'good riddance' doesn't show the man the appreciation he deserves.

  11. I'm not sure where many of you are coming from. You think I'm talking in circles because many of you bring up different comments about the Baltimore Colts and their fans, some I need to defend. Sure I know the Baltimore Colts became the Indy Colts , and from a franchise perspective they are the same. I'm just pointing out in my comments that the history took place in different cities . I have long accepted the move, or I wouldn't be a Ravens fan. However , I rarely see an Orioles fan touting St Louis Browns accomplishments as their own , as you see in Indy. Sure, it's technically part of the franchise, but Am I really going to brag about a 1944 AL pennant that was won in St . Louis ? That is the same obsurdity I see when ESPN has a special about the greatest game ever played , commented on by modern day Indianapolis Colts. That is the kind of thing I have a problem with , where history is arranged to take Baltimore out of the history books.

I think I've been pretty fair about the move. I know what kind of owner Irsay was as I observed him from 1972 until the end. He was a bad owner , as is Peter Angelos of the Orioles. I told you guys I don't like Eminent Domain, and I think The Maryland politicians goofed up. If you look back at the lessons of time, certainly we should have built a new stadium. Now that being said, I do have problems when fans are blamed in Baltimore for the move, or Baltimore gets snubbed in the history books or some type of NFL show. When I hear from some fans that Bob Irsay was a good , benevolent owner , well that's not quite right also.

So all in all, I think I'm pretty fair in my comments across the board , but I get hit from a million different angles from you fine folk, so it takes a lot of explaining. As I've told you, I'm a fan and advocate of the Baltimore Colts and Ravens. I respect the Indianapolis Colts, but to me, and many in Baltimore, it is like a totally different entity . Many here will disagree with that , but the one thing many of us have in common is a love of the old Baltimore Colts history which we share. If you followed the franchise to Indy, that's fine , I couldn't. I'm not from Des Moines and could care less where the logos landed. I'm a loyal Baltimore guy like Unitas was. Still, I enjoy these historical types if topics, as they kill some time for us in the off season, and maybe teach some younger fans history, that may stumble on some forum threads.

I don't know why you Baltimore fans take this subject so personally. I realize some point at the attendance and that's a bit insulting to your pride. Personally I don't buy that one bit. Attendance ebbs and flows for all teams no matter what city they're located in, depending on peoples outlook on the product put on the field.

You're mistake is that you believe your opinions are facts when they're anything but. You can't make a claim like "Fair offer" when fair itself is subjective. Well it looked fair to me? What does that matter if it didn't look fair to the man that matters (In this case Irsay)? You have a timeline. Those are the only facts that aren't up for interpretation.

Just accept it.. When your 'Fair Offers' were being made, the negotiations had already degraded to it being personal between ownership and government. They played politics and the fans of the team lost.

But carry on, Holy Crow of Colts past, carry on dispatching those heathens from afar. Reason be damned when bitterness taps on your front door. Nevermore, Old Crow. Never more.

  12. Yeah, no team is immune.

I'm just curious as to why the decision was made to not follow through with any formal charges.

Sounds like there was major over reaction on both parties here. IPD doesn't care who you are, so for them to not press charges, there had to be a good reason.

  13. This is the only good argument..There does need to be a fund that [pays from seriously hurt college athletes.

But it cant be payments for life....that's not realistic in any business.

The problem with the union saying NOW that they dont want players paid...is that the union's leadership will change every 3 or 4 years and future union heads may indeed want cash .

I think money from the sale of jerseys and autographs can be used for a catastrophic injury fund..but not to pad the pockets of amatuer athletes

My only disagreement here is that the money is already padding the pockets of some suit and tie who could care less about the education offered at their institution.

I don't think college athletes should be paid. I also don't think colleges should be able to give free scholarship rides to 'student athletes'. I wouldn't want to see college athletics absolved but it shouldn't be the primary outlet to major league sports.

There needs to be a 'minor league' type of system where those with aspirations to play NFL football can go learn the game, develop skills and progress to the NFL - Without impeding the education system. Let's just stop pretending most of these guys are there to better themselves academically, open more doors for those who are and let the athletes go make their money in farm leagues before getting their golden opportunity in the NFL.

  14. Jvan, there is a very good time line that is on line from the Baltimore Sun, that just lays out good old hard facts of what led up to the move. I think most of us are against Eminent Domain. But people on here give Irsay a complete pass. Irsay was bargaining in bad faith, continually playing off Phoenix, Indy, and Baltimore when giving each assurances he would move there, or in the case of Baltimore, stay there. On March 25, 1984 , Schaefer and Frank De Francis met with Irsay with an expanded package that they believed met Irsay's demands. On March 26, 1984 the Maryland Senate studied two bills relating to buying the Colts for local ownership at a fair price , or the Eminent Domain. Here is what Sen. Bromwell who actually sponsored the Eminent Domain bill said," We are sitting on the bills, we don't want to tip the scales. It is a very sensitive position we are in. The way Irsay is, I don't want to be the guy who make him jump off the deep end." These are hardly the comments of a guy who really wanted to do Eminent Domain. On the contrary, they wanted to get a deal done, but every time they met Irsay's demands, like a corporate blackmailer, he came up with new demands.

On March 27, 1984, Irsay presented a new list of demands, after Schaeffer and De Francis had met the original demands. Word was already getting back to Baltimore that Jim Irsay and Chernoff were in Indianapolis under assumed names, and that the move was imminent. In that context, the State Senate passed the Eminent Domain

Bill 38-4, but it had not gone to the Senate, or was signed by the governor. Schaeffer has said that bill would have never been signed while the Colts were in Baltimore. Meanwhile , Shaeffer and DeFrancis were getting approval for Irsay's latest demands which included a 15 million dollar loan at 8 %, guaranteed home attendance at 43,000, and purchasing the training complex. Schaeffer got the go ahead on these, but Irsay did not return calls twice, when they were calling to tell him all his new demands were met. So essentially, Baltimore met all of Irsay's demands, and the Eminent Domain bill would never have been signed , had Irsay picked up the phone, or bargained in good faith. Shortly before 10 PM , the moving vans arrived in Owings Mills with Irsay breaking his last promise that he would call Mayor Schaeffer before any kind of move. Irsay may have been mad at others in Baltimore , but Schaeffer advocated for Irsay until the bitter end, when he threw the Mayor under the bus for the last time. This is the other side of the story you will not here from the revisionist history crowd, but it is dead true.

So.. They approached Irsay with what they thought was a fair deal, then went and loaded their back pocket with what amounts to theft. They were good guys though.. They didn't throw down their trump card right then and there, they waited to make sure Irsay was going to make the right choice first.

Irsay was a horrible owner. But a good definition of negotiating in bad faith is sitting down at the negotiations table with a loaded gun in your waistband. It was like a drunk and an * trying to agree. Sorry the fans in Baltimore paid the price but the blame was entirely mutual and Baltimore Colts fans should remember that.

There was no precedent at the time of the Colts moving for leaving behind the legacy of the team. That had never been a consideration until the Ravens came along - And understandably, the city of Baltimore had already been stung and would have been hypocritical to not have done things that way when the Browns moved. The Baltimore Colts history is part of the Indianapolis Colts history. Whether people like you like it or not. That is the only fact that matters. I don't see how that takes from your memories or love of the Baltimore Era. All the old logos and players, they are part of Colts lore - Which is shared with Baltimore in the same way that the Rams lore is shared between LA and St Luis.

  15. You know when the Michael Vick news broke in 2007? I just assumed he was innocent why would a millionaire QB with the best selling jersey in the league be involved in a dog fighting ring ,they must have just used his money ,maybe his brother Marcus but not him,  he couldn't have..so you just never know about people.

I said that in my post. It wouldn't shock me. Millionaires and Billionaires do much worse for the 'thrill of it'.

But I doubt it. Why sell pills? You want to do something exciting? Go sell the glamorous stuff.
