  1. I wouldn't be surprised if the 2010 draft class is looked at as a good class in a few years.  And that would be because of the first two picks.  Angerer has performed but Jerry Hughes has just started making his mark this year.  With the loss of Freeney, maybe he will become an even more important contributer and start performing like an first rounder.  Even though he should have long ago.  There are also a few other contributers in the later rounds that have helped us and continue to help us.  The biggest being Kavell Conner and Ricardo Matthews.

Towards the end of your post you talked about longterm players and role players and backups.  I disagree with that list.  Both Nevis and Angerer have shown the ability to play at an NFL level, especially Angerer, who has become a very important piece to the defense.

Looking back in a few years I would say Luck, Hilton, Allen and possibly Ballard will be considered key players of the offense.  The reason I don't know about Ballard is because of the history of Colts backs, Brown had a good rookie year but then he got hurt and his backups started to perform and he wasn't considered an important piece to the future of the Colts.  It will be interesting what happens this draft and how much defensive talent will be added.  I hope most of our picks are used on the defensive side of the ball, with the exception of the Offensive Line.

This guy has impressed me when he performed at the combine.  I don't know, maybe it's just me, but when I watched him he seemed more athletic than the majority of O linemen out there.  When you look at his results they aren't too shabby.  He ran a 4.99 40 yd dash, which isn't bad for a guy who weighs 314 lbs.  He recorded the best (or one of the best) 3 cone drill times of the entire OL.  Which holds alot of value when you think about it.  If he is agile, he has a better chance on getting up the field and throwing a block.  He also put up 31 reps on the bench press.

With his speed and strength I don't understand why NFL.com has Schwenke ranked at a low 3rd round pick.  I would say he deserves to go in the mid to upper second round.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he switched and played guard or tackle(He played guard up until his senior season at Cal).  He has the speed and agility to get to the second level of defenders and if he gets drafted to a team with a veteran center, he could play at one of those positions and make an immediant impact.

Of course, I'm not an expert, but this guy has really impressed me.  I think the Colts should look into him.  Does anyone else see this in this guy?

  3. I don't see how you guys are putting Peyton so low. Have we forgotten is career in Indy? I mean yeah he is returning from an injury but still he is not #6.

I don't think Newton should be #7, yeah he had a good rookie season but so did Vince Young. Let's wait to rank him so high until we see what he does this year.

  4. RGIII is not who I would want behind center. yeah he can run, and he can throw but does he have the mentality and character that it takes to compete in the NFL. Back in '98 we were debating between Leaf and Manning. Now it is RGIII and Luck. Now don't get me wrong, I hope both of them have successful NFL careers but I don't think RGIII will. Luck on the other hand is very athletic and, at least from what I have seen from him, has the mentality that is needed from an NFL QB.

  5. I completely agree, we have had 9 consecutive winning seasons thanks to these great men. I will always be a colts fan and I have also never met any of them but I will always cheer for the colts no matter what. Thank you to all of the great colt veterans for all of the success to enjoy.

  6. Of course they can. They have the ability to win.

Tebow has the ability to win. But I think the Pats will put points up. That will force the Broncos to try to match the points. Review will try to force the issue and end up making mistakes. The best shot for the Broncos to win isn't Tebow, it is the Defense. When Brady plays poorly they lose. However, Brady picked them apart once already and he can do it again.

I don't think Brady will be able to pick them apart again. That was when they were on the losing skid, they weren't playing as a team. They have regrouped and they will put up a fight.

I guess we'll find out in a couple of days.

  7. Tebow has as much heart and determination as anyone. However, he has a slow delivery, he is often indecisive with the ball and holds onto it too long. I think Tebow is a great guy, but not a great QB. At least not yet. I believe Brady will be able to put up more than enough to get a win and the Pats' D will be sufficient. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what my gut is telling me based on what I've seen this year.

Tebow is a little hesitant to throw, but if Tebow is able to scramble it will open up some throws downfield when they keep a guy down to keep Tebow from scrambling. I don't think the Pats D will be able to cover all of the WRs and stop him from scrambling. That is what I think will be the difference, maybe not his arm but his ability to run. Plus the broncos have a some good backs, a decent D, and a good kicker. I think the Broncos can do it.

  8. Whats really starting to tick me off are the no calls on offensive holding. I seen numerous times this weekend of defensive lineman getting held big time and a few times they were even pushed in the back so they couldn't get the sack. This crap has got to stop. And the inavertent whistles on both the Lions (which cost them 7 points) and last nights no lateral fumble which kept the Steelers in the game.

That has been a problem for years there is always missed holding calls and it really ticks me off as well. It does seem like the saints and pats get some help from the refs.....

  9. How will we be able to get Morris Claiborne? He's the top CB in the draft on most Big Boards. I say he goes at the latest top 10. That would mean not taking Luck, which Irsay already said he wanted to do. Can't have Claiborne

When has Irsay ever said he wanted to take Luck, he has never came out and said that.

And besides that if the Colts wanted him they could trade after they take luck (if they do) to get the 8th or 9th pick and get him. There is a way to get him and luck.

  10. I'm not very sure about Freeney playing LB, maybe on goaline or 4th and 1 situations but not as a starter. For the secondary I say we take Morris Clayborn, CB from LSU, in the draft. At SS we have Melvin Bullet, why do we need to fill that spot? He is young, he just happened to get hurt this year. If we want to improve our run defense why would we change to a 3-4? Drake Nevis just finished his rookie season and he is not that bad, he could turn out to be a decent DT. We have some guys that are just going to get better, there is no reason to switch to a 3-4.

  11. I don't get all of the fans that want RG3 the heisman is a joke if we do trade the first pick we need to pick someone with POTENTIAL just because RG3 won the heisman doesn't mean he is a NFL ready QB we either pick Luck (not completely sure about this) or trade the pick and grab someone who could help out our secondary. Which is an immediate need, but so is the QB spot so we would need to grab a QB later in the draft but not RG3

  12. I disagree with you. Kolb didn't have much consistency and he still got a huge contract. With that said, you could argue that teams have learned from the Cards' mistake and will be more careful and scrutinous in their QB searches

That is true but Flynn has only played 2 good games. I just don't see any logic in getting a big contract after 2 good games. Maybe a team desperate enough for a QB would be willing to gamble like the Cards did but not many teams are that desperate. The Dolphins have Moore who possibly could start if needed. The Rams have Bradford, the Jags and Titans, Vikings, and Panthers have rookie QBs. There are also some decent QB prospects in the draft. So with the current situation I don't see him getting a big deal.

  13. Matt Flynn could be a successful QB but he needs to prove that he can do that consistently before he gets a multi-million dollar contract. Many backups have done what Flynn has done. I don't think any team will offer him a huge contract but he might get a pretty big one. If he can do that consistently he will easily get a starting job in the NFL.
