  1. 3-1

I can't see us losing to the Raiders at home, even if we don't play our best.

Miami won't be a pushover, but it is a home game, so should be 2-0 at this point.

As improved as I think the Colts are, I'm not sure we will catch the Niners sleeping - would probably have a better shot if it was at home.

Jax won't be as bad as people think, but with Luck on our side, we should win this game.

  2. Freeney is playing hurt in a new position without Mathis on the other side. I agree, a healthy Freeney in his prime would not need much help on the line to be disruptive, but right now he does need help, and Hughes is not good enough. If Mathis can get back, we should be better at pressuring the QB. This definitely is an area of concern right now. Freeney very well may not be back next year, and certainly not for superstar money. Hughes also may not be back next year - limited usefulness, and a total non-factor when playing Freeney's position. Hopefully we can get our defensive line starters healthy this year and not have to depend on Hughes. Freeney can still be a difference maker, but again, he needs help on the D-line - Mathis, and someone to put pressure up the middle. If he can get healthy it should also improve his speed and power.

  3. Well, I predict a 9-7 record for the Colts, which I know is very optimistic, but I am a glass half full kind of guy. And I base it on the "tough" schedule. No, the schedule doesn't look bad, with only 2 home games against playoff hopefuls, and 1 of those is against Texans, last game of season - which may count nothing for them if they are as good as everyone is saying (but I don't necessarily believe at this point). We do have four tough road games, starting with Chicago this weekend, (New England, Houston, Detroit), but the other four are all up for grabs.

  4. I'm with you fellas.

Possible Devin Hester return, possible turnovers resulting in points/field position, battle between Marshall and Vontae Davis.

Watch the poise of Luck, even with the adversity faced by any of the above. Offensively, we should score at least 20.

Defensively -not sure what to expect - but agree that it will come down to stopping their running game. If we fail to stop them at the point of attack it could be a long afternoon for our defense. The good news is we have a potentially potent offense again, and getting down 14, 17, even 20 points(if it is early enough) does not mean we won't be there at the end of the game. In the end, Bears experience, talent likely to win out. But here's hoping for at least 3 Cutler interceptions (but only happens if we can stop the run). Go Colts ! (But as a prediction I say Bears 27, Colts 24).

  5. Fugger will likely go to practice squad unless someone else claims him. Chapman was a given when he was drafted - knew he would not be available for the 1st half of the season at least, but to get first round talent in the fifth round was worth it to the Colts to help build the defense for the future.

  6. Adams has made it tough to cut him. The size, speed and hands that he showed yesterday seems like it might be worth the roster spot to work on developing him as a top receiver. I worry about cutting him - could easily end up on another team, but he would be the 6th receiver. I would try to keep him if we can, especially with uncertainty at other receiving spots - Collie - concussions, Avery - knees, T.Y. - shoulder injury, and Brazill - also young and unproven. But, we will see. I am looking forward to seeing who the initial 53 are.

  7. I never doubted that he would be ready week 1. My concern now is that he will be ready week 1, out weeks 2-4, ready week 5, out weeks 6-10, etc. My opinion is that any hit that jars his head will result in further concussions and missed playing time, and as much as he plays in the slot, he is bound to take some more hits. Time will tell.

  8. As a medical professional, I actually agree with Kravitz on this. Collie has proven to me without a doubt that he can no longer take a head jarring hit without getting a concussion. So, if he goes back in, it will just be a matter of time before he gets knocked out again. From a health standpoint - Collie has to be aware of that and make the decision that makes sense to him. From an organizational standpoint - we will have to cut another receiver to keep Collie on the roster and hope we have someone to bring back WHEN Collie goes on IR. From a fan standpoint, Collie has been my favorite receiver not named Reggie or Marvin since Brandon Stokely left, but it will make me nervous if he has to catch a ball in traffic or in the middle of the field from now until he retires.

  9. I would be suprised if Avery doesn't make the team as well, but still waiting to see him on the field. Collie has to be a concern with concussions and will be more of a liability every time he takes the field - any shots to the head or hard landings on the ground will cause another concussion. I really liked Whalen's tough catches on Sunday and hope to see more of that (maybe with the first team).

  10. a little perspective please. A) it's a football game. B) yes I did forgive someone for murdering his parents who were like a second family to me. C) It was not a fun game to be at, but it is long past and there will likely be many more football games to come.

Remember, when you hold something against someone the only person you are hurting is yourself, (and your loved ones who see you suffering).

  11. I agree - the tight end position is key to today's NFL offense. I was excited by the Fleener pick - thinking may need to get the Nike Jersey of Fleener this year. I was suprised by the second TE pick - thinking DT or DB would be priority there - but apparantly talent level at that point didn't warrant anything else but picking the next TE. I am glad that we have a GM that knows talent trumps need and that hopefully all the needs can be addressed over 2-3 years of drafting and free agents. Meanwhile, our offense now has pieces in place that could make us hard to contend with (though may take 2-3 years to realize full extent as the young players adapt to the NFL).

  12. Way too early to grade - still have 6 more picks. But from who we have taken - Luck - A+ no brainer, Fleener - I actually love this pick - size+speed+hands =TD machine so I say an A. I don't follow college football enough to know the other guys, but Allen was winner of John Mackey award so expect good things out of him - B+ until I see more, and then taking a speedy receiver/return man could help to improve field position put more points on the board, so I would give a B for Hilton as well, (and if he has better hands than Garcon could easily turn to an A this year). I look for defense, defense, defense today.

  13. I would like Fleener, but could see them going defense. I don't think we need another blocking TE - would love to have someone that can complement our excellent receivers. (I am counting on Avery returning to form).

  14. The Colts still have some offensive weapons. The analysts saying that the Redskins have more is what bothers me the most. Our #3 receiver is going to be their #1. If Avery is any good and Collie can return to form the Colts could have a very formidable receiving corps.

With the exception of losing Saturday, our O-line is already better, and losing Saturday may even be a plus allowing for more size in the middle as well. So all we can really say at this point is we don't know what we have on offense or defense going into the season since there are so many new parts. We won't be as good as if Manning were under center, but we should still win some games.

  15. I was also most interested in seeing if Fleener made it past 1st round. Our O-line was beefed up in off-season - so not as big a priority. I agree the #1 priority is to get the right defensive players for the new system, but to be honest - I don't know who they are. Everyone seems to like Upshaw - and if he is that good should also be motivated by getting passed over in the first round. Our greatest need is at cornerback, but may be able to pick someone up later. If Fleener could be the next great TE - I would still want him. It sounds as though he has the size and speed to be good.

  16. I agree with the heart part. It would be great to get a big, fast TE that could be used as a receiver. Of course if somebody else wants him bad enough they could always jump ahead and pick before. Otherwise I would go defense with either Upshaw, Worthy or Jenkins - it really depends on who the Colts staff feels will best fit with what they want to do defensively. But I still would love to get Fleener.
