  1. I think someone else needs to take over play calling. How does Taylor only get 10 carries, in a game where you are having success running the ball, are way behind in time of possession, and have an injured QB with limited mobility. Also, we need to shuffle the WR depth chart, nobody besides Pittman seems to be getting open. During training camp we thought we had depth for days. I am ready to see someone prove they belong.
  2. This isn't Madden. These GM's are real people with long term friendships and associations with each other. If Ballard were to try to game the compensation of a trade he already made, it would damage the Colt's reputation among the league. That would be worse than the loss of the 1st round draft pick. The Colt's and Ballard are men of their word, they will honor the trade they made for Carson Wentz. We can criticize it after the fact, it's what we do.
  3. The problem with the pass protection is Ryan Kelly is playing more hurt than we knew and whatever side Davenport is on. Wentz is the exact QB we needed these first two weeks, any other QB would have been murdered by now. Hopefully he recovers fast from his ankle(s) we need him if we are going to get back into the mix.
  4. Man, Edge looks like he could lace em up and still go.
  5. I will say this, the QB competition is making this one of the funner training camps in recent history. There is a reason to like both QB's, and with the Ballard way of developing from within, I believe we keep and develop both going forward. I am hopeful for both to improve, but if we can get Eason to make his reads a little faster, I think he has the higher ceiling with the ability to make every throw on the field. Conversely, there is no reason to think that Ehlinger can't do some strength work, and work with a QB coach in the offseason to make those throws outside of the numbers a little sharper.
  6. Over the next couple of weeks, we need to find a better answer at LT, and our backup OL in general needs to raise their level of play. We are loaded at WR, DL, and LB it seems. Perhaps instead of cutting some of them we can put a package together for a better LT.
  7. I thought both QB's did well. The situation is as the media has framed it, Eason has the NFL arm, and when protected looks like a solid QB. Ehlinger has the mobility to extend plays, but his arm strength causes him problems when needing to thread the needle in an NFL type small separation. Overall, I give a slight edge to Eason, but these are two QB's worthy of developing and keeping in house.
  8. Yeah, i definitely agree Eason is no Mahomes. I also agree that the coaching staff really like Ehlinger, but his performance today proves why they are still trying to develop Eason's skillset. It is quite possible by the end of camp they like neither guy and we go with someone we don't even know yet. I also disagree with the one full year thing, for all practical purposes this is the first year they have been able to see Eason at work. So far it has been up and down. I just hope Wentz comes back sooner than later, I am not comfortable with either Eason or Ehlinger.
  9. I don't see this at all. I believe Reich was being very forthcoming, Sam earned the right to be tested against our #1 defense, and in all honesty he wilted under the challenge. I expect Eason to regain the majority of the starter snaps going forward.
  10. I probably will have an unfavorable take on all this, but this is what I believe: 1) Costanzo was JAG until we drafted elite players around him, once we got Nelson, the entire unit ascended. 2) Losing out to Little and Cosmi early in the second round was a surprise, and they had to go to their value board at that point. 3) No way in hell do we move Nelson to LT 4) Whoever we do decide to plug in at LT will play his best football on this elite line group.
  11. We need to trade up and get Kwity Paye, didn't think he would drop this far.
  12. Ok, maybe I missed it, but which winning QB is available in FA or via trade? I think my point, and some others on here are that Stafford is on a much weaker organization which contributed to his win/loss record. A fresh start with the Colts could provide him better results, ala Philip Rivers going from going from 5-11 two years ago to 11-5 with the Colts.
  13. True, winning is a team stat. As good as Peyton Manning was he only won one Superbowl with the Colts, and the best QB in my opinion Dan Marino, won zero. But do you deny that Stafford is an improvement to our currently signed QB (Eason only) ?
  14. The only QBs in NFL history with 45,000+ passing yards and less than 150 INT: • Aaron Rodgers • Matthew Stafford end of list

  16. 20M cap hit in 21 23M cap hit in 22 I would argue he is a younger Philip Rivers with a better arm and more mobility on a cheaper contract. This is a no brainer for the Colts. I would guess that Stafford will get a lot of say in his destination. My guess is it will cost the Colts a 2nd rounder to get him, unless there is a bidding war, then it might take our first.
  17. Who would ever want to trade Nelson? He singlehandedly transformed our OL and elevated the play of EVERYONE along the line. He is the best player currently on our roster, and no one would compensate us equivalent to Nelson's worth. Leonard to a lesser extent is the same thing. Players like that you don't trade, you do everything you can to resign and keep.
  18. I agree there is no way to position effectively for that. But he could decide that the players at 21 aren't worth the pick and decide to trade it for future value, especially if they are bring Rivers back for one more year. Just trying to figure out value for future picks, the value charts don't seem to list future draft pick values.
  19. I feel like the Colts are not going to be in a position to draft an elite QB for the forseeable future, and definitely not at 21. What value could we get to trade the #21 for a future 1st rounder that could eventually be high enough to draft an elite QB prospect? I know you have to get lucky, and the trade partner needs to have a bad season, but would Ballard trade for a future #1 on the premise that it can be high enough next year to get the QB of the future, or at least high enough to combine with our 2022 1st round pick to move high enough? What would our compensation be in addition to a 2022 1st rounder if we trade our 2021 1st rounder? a 2021 2nd, 3rd?
  20. The Titans play in the afternoon same time as us, no matter what happens during the 1 PM games, we have a shot in during the 4 PM slot.
  21. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Especially with the amount of youth we have added over the last few drafts, we need impact players now. I don't expect us to be drafting at 13 or lower again soon.
  22. Seems like a strange topic for a post. This offseason has been nothing but good news. Solid competition on defense, to the point that there is a chance that Walker gets supplanted by a draft pick, and another LB that won't be denied playing time in EJ Speed. Rock Ya-Sin being better than advertised. Denico Autry playing like a man on fire, not to even mention our WR competition, TE room, and DL playing like men on fire. Being cautionary with Luck and Campbell during games that don't count makes sense. We did the same thing when Peyton was here, sucked in the preseason, and ruled during the regular season, this time we will be doing it with a top to bottom complete defense.
