And the owner says we’re all in when they’re not. I don’t understand why so many defend the owner on here. He’s done a lot of questionable things throughout the years right Mr. Luck.

Because again people heard what they wanted with the “all chips in” comment.  He was alluding to he didn’t think the team had been fully committed the previous season and held Wentz largely accountable for that.  When he made that comment he was saying Matt Ryan was fully committed and would help the team be fully committed.

it was never meant as a comment about roster building as has been explained several times.

As for why do people defend him?  They remember what the Colts were like under his father who was truly a bad owner.  Jim Irsay has put a winning team on the field way more often than not as Owner.  That’s why people like him as Owner.

As for her personal life I think even the most loyal Colts fan will admit Irsay has demons that haunt him.   They aren’t proud of it.  No one defends his demons.  They might feel empathy for him but they don’t defend them.  They just wish him the best fighting it because what else can they do?  He’s not going to sell the team and they aren’t going to stop being Colts fans.

Most early articles and rankings I have seen project the colts to be worse than last year. Power rankings in the 21-24 range. Even seen articles talking trading Buckner for picks to build for the future. Projections all have us third or last in the afc south.

The “articles” about Buckner are just straight spitballing by people who want attention.  There are no legit stories suggesting the Colts are even thinking about trading Buckner.  In fact if you follow the Colts they are pretty much saying Buckner is going to be here because they keep talking about having the Buckner/Stewart duo back together.

You keep asking me to say you’re right and I say you’re right and it’s still not enough.

Yiu said if Houston was lucky then Ballard was lucky and I said yes Ballard was lucky!!    Chris Ballard was lucky!   And what do you say?    You’re wrong.

We’re done for the day.   Do NOT respond.  This has been an embarrassing exchange for you.   You're winning but you’re not winning by a big enough margin.

Dear God!   What a hot mess!

He just wants to fight and win arguments on the internet.

Naw, everyone and everything sucks. Burn it all down. Fire everyone and sell the team. /s

Yeah at this point it’s not even about Ballard to me.  I am not a fan of everything he’s doing so I can get on board with some of the criticism of him it’s people throwing temper tantrums because Ballard isn’t doing exactly what they want and acting like he’s never done anything right and running to every thread to say it over and over and over.  We get it some are sick of Ballard.  However, we can’t fire him and posting about it every chance you get on a message board isn’t going to make Irsay fire him.

If people are fans of the Colts then why not pull for what he’s doing to work even if you disagree with it?  I just want the Colts to win I don’t care who the GM is or what he does to get the team there.  I have no clue if what Ballard is doing is going to work but what I do know is the season isn’t over in March like some are acting like it is.

It is what it is though, by the same token if people want to just be angry about Ballard I can’t stop them and I am not going to try.

And we don't know how durable he will be, although we're certainly hoping very much that last season was a fluke. One of the downsides of having started only 13 games in college is that the sample size for Richardson proving his durability is smaller than most college quarterbacks. I heard a college coach talking this winter about what he looks for in the transfer portal - players with proven production and durability over players with impressive athletic potential who haven't played as much. He said that a risk he doesn't like with guys who haven't as much is that they haven't demonstrated their ability to remain healthy through a season or multiple seasons. That makes some sense to me.

Yet some are freaking out and saying the Colts can’t depend on Brents because he’s injury prone but attacking any argument that dares to question if we know about Richardson yet…

My thinking, he called Veach Monday of last week and asked if a 3rd and future 5th would do it, and Veach said he'd be in the running. Then he called Sneed's agent and asked what the price would be, and the agent said something like $84m for four years. And that was it.

That’s pretty much what Holder eluded too in his interview with JMV and Holder said those kinds of talks happen all the time and most people in NFL circles don’t consider those real trade talks which is why Schefter said what he said.

He also said when they decided to move on from Sneed and didn’t get Hunter they pivoted to plan B which was to bring all their guys back and said had they landed Hunter then Moore would have been allowed to walk for sure and perhaps Grover as well.

Novel concept.......but most of the 'fans' on here then call him Bargain Bin or dumpster diving..........heck, a lot of folks are mad he didn't re-sign Autry even though most of those very same people said he was a 'camp body' when he signed him as a free agent.

So again, there is literally no pleasing most people on this board.

Like I said yesterday I found it funny people were complaining that all Ballard did was keep his own and not let people walk to get different players in one sentence while being upset that he looks to be moving on from Blackmon and is probably going to sign a different player to replace him in the next.

destination also matters.   More so in the NBA.

I already talked about the NBA and explained why it mattered more in the NBA.  The NFL destination doesn’t matter nearly as much because they don’t have max contracts.  You can pay a player what you want and at some point someone is going to outbid someone.  So it’s not that I forgot it, it’s just not a major factor in where free agents sign for the NFL.  That’s my point.  If you disagree so be it.

If it did places like Detroit, Cleveland, Green Bay, Cincinnati, or New England would never get free agents all of those teams have been active in free agency in recent years.

Think about this though.  What is the salary cap hit of a pick 15 player?  Pretty high, all things considered?  If Ballard doesn't seriously go for Sneed, a proven player, because of price; do you think he will spend a good capital draft pick and the salary cap implications for a player that is NOT proven?   I think corner is just too high of a price at 15, IMO.

I think its EDGE, WR, or TE (Bowers), and then try to trade the guy pick 15 will be replacing...maybe some sort of package.  JMO.  But maybe I'm over thinking this.

    https://overthecap.com/draft

about 3.4 million for the Colts.  Sneed wants about $22 per year per reports.  Huge difference.

Hi folks.  Sorry to disrupt the "why haven't we fired Ballard yet" discussion, but I wanted to ask if anyone has heard if we've made any kind of offer or approach to CB Xavien Howard or not.  Or if they've heard of a reason why he's still on the unsigned FA list.

What I don’t want to happen is that Ballard’s past failures basically force him to go DB at 15. Then we’re looking at a second-round WR instead of an elite prospect WR at 15. The last thing I want is uncertainty about AR because we don’t give him all the weapons we can. It would be the most Ballard occurrence ever for AR to struggle and then Ballard says “Look, gosh darn it, Anthony played his tail off but I need to get him more explosive weapons. That’s on me.”

There is no promise any of the elite WRs are going to be there at 15.  If they are I know I would prefer to go WR at 15 and CB in the second.  If not and the best player is a corner then you take the corner.  That’s the thing we have to see how the draft will play out and we don’t know yet.

I REALLY hope Partridge is the answer because that would save us a lot of money and/or draft capital, lol.

I’d also add I do think Ballard felt the line needs more talent too.  Assuming Holder is right and the Colts really tried to land Hunter that would point to that.  Beyond that maybe he doesn’t feel the other guys out there would add the improvement they need for the money they wanted.  We all saw with Ngakoue just adding a vet pass rusher wasn’t enough to fix it either.  It has to be the right guy.  Maybe that will come in the draft maybe it won’t and the pass rush will be a problem again.  Just gotta see what happens.

I think Sparano was what the Oline needed, but then there were reports of complete breakdowns from Strausser at the end.

As I said to another poster, there's a difference between the Oline and the Dline in that the Oline actually had produced at a very high level - the Dline hasn't. What we got from the Oline was a return to form (somewhat). What we hope to get from the Dline is new heights and that's a different and a bigger ask in my opinion.

I think that’s a fair read but often time the way you get more out of guys is to change coaches.  Clearly that’s what Ballard is gambling on.  Time will tell if he’s right or not.

  14. This thread should be changed to Colts fan death match.  It’s turned into I must be right in my argument more than legitimately discussing what’s going on.  I’ve played my part but I am trying to stop for the record so no I don’t think I am better than anyone.  My advice again would be two smart people can see the samething differently and it doesn’t mean the other side doesn’t know what they are talking about if they don’t agree with you.  Just my two cents carry on however you want.

Just noticed the Bills signed Mike Edwards, who I believe the Colts had him round for a visit.

Also probably means they aren’t signing Blackmon then.  I wonder if his asking price is still too high.

Not really that much more when you think about it.

Titans wasted Henry’s career, blew a 1st seed in the playoffs.

Texans consistently murdered in the wild card or divisional round.

Jags repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot despite first round picks and major free agent spending…

I am sure I am in the minority here but the Jags have basically done the things Colts fans are screaming for and I think I would take Ballard’s record over what the Jags have done over the same period of time.
